Marilyn King My comment wasn’t talking about bringing her back. Yes things happen and there is nothing we can do about it. I’m just talking about the oddities and corruption that happen behind the scenes that eventually come to light. 👋🏽
You're an idiot. People's legacies do fade. They may not be completely forgotten, but it is harder to remember them when you don't have visual or audio proof of things they've done and achieved. When your accomplishments are hidden away and can't be archived, people will eventually forget them. People are so short-sighted. Obviously people haven't forgotten about Aaliyah, but what about 50 years from now? 100? 500?
Christopher I. Gomes that was someone’s statement is it is a faction one. As time goes on her legacy will fade if no one can find her music to stream.. TH-cam videos are too old and people will only search her when they are feeling nostalgic. Current generations are barely listening to Beyoncé’s early works much less going back to the Aaliyah, Brandy, Monica era.
Yeah I knew all her singles growing up and was always there inspired by her style, but had never really heard her albums. My mother had the Red Album but I don’t remember it it and I eventually got to stream Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number.
That's why I still have my CD's..My niece is only 21yrs old and her favourite R&B Singer is Aaliyah. My daughter's name is Aaliyah , she was born in 2001 the yr of Aaliyah's passing. I was pregnant that yr. 911 , Left Eye ... Will never forget. RIP to all that Passed.
I believe he had something to do with Aaliyah’s death because from what I’ve read and done research on Aaliyah was planning to leave his label for good and start her own from the ground up definitely fishy and sketchy I’ve always felt like something was wrong about her death from the beginning
Aaliyah was not planning to leave blackground! Even if she did blackground would've still gotten a percentage of her work of they wanted. And Barry wouldn't kill 9 people just to kill his niece
she wasn't leaving but wanted to. she had to record 4 more albums for that to be an option. Virgin Records wanted her to leave and join their label directly so she could be their artist directly and not through a sub-label. unless barry knew her flight was gonna change at the last minute he had nothing to do with it. hes definitely evil but he wouldn't do anything like that (..to her). her death was the result of negligence from the airlines and virgin being too cheap. the airlines were not arguing with the passengers. they were arguing with virgin over the phone.
Berry is in his 70’s, he’ll get his karma soon. Not just for the musicians he did dirty, but specifically for that plane “incident” ... don’t trust these record labels, or execs 😤
Marilyn King 1. I can gaf how you spell his shady ass name, 2. I know exactly who BARRY is (grammar police) and 3. Just because you have an Aaliyah picture as your profile doesnt give you the right to discredit WHAT YOU ASSUME I KNOW about Aaliyah. You probably wasn’t even born, nor old enough to know her music outside of what you can get on TH-cam.
Omg are y’all slow? He literally has done things like this several times. This isn’t an accusation based off assumptions, people have stated their vehicle and things have been tampered with by him. Also, there’s plenty of motive. Aaliyah’s autopsy says she died from blunt trauma to the head, not from a plane crash. Look it up. Have you never thought about these tragic celebrity deaths and how they don’t seem right? Well record label executives believe that musicians are cash cows when they pass. It’s obvious that music sales go way up after they die. Aaliyah also wanted to put out videos for different songs, so she was speaking out more. THAT’S MOTIVE. Believe he’s a saint though, you have that right ...
@@appetite4chic878 baby i actually grew up listening to Aaliyah. I was alive before she even died. I know wtf happened. Aaliyah didn't know the plane was overweight and it was the failed engine that really caused the crash! Not the luggage!

The fact that none of aaliyah's family protected her from r.kelly and the other producers in the industry that wanted a piece (looking at you Timbaland). They all failed her. But that's a different story.
Aaliyah was a star whose light faded far too soon. Her music was amazing, her personality was infectious, and she was just so humble. I absolutely loved Queen of the Damned and she was brilliant as Akasha. Knowing she had so much more of her art to give the world is so heartbreaking. Truly, One in a Million.
Abiyah Rina her, Left Eye, Scary Spice-not the stereotypical sexy fly dress of the 90s-more on the edgy or “rocker” side for that time until the Earlys 00s-especially with me being a black goth/punk. You got to see some cool rocker garb here and there on Janet but most that was a Diva era and it was nice for me to see more tomboy eclectic and grungy looks on black women I watched on tv.
you must be millennial. aaliyah was far from "alternative". she wore baggy cloths which is very 90's hip hop. she was one of the first or not the first r&b singer that wore baggy cloths. so way off. you ain't a fan if you say that kind nonsense.
@@mindyoownbusiness9746 Aaliyah was the first sexy tomboy she actually popularized that actually invented it. Wow 😮. I am fortunate enough to own all her CDs from day one. I was wondering why you couldn’t steam her music - why would he sell the rights to her music? Why didn’t he hand that over to her mother & brother? Or sell it with conditions that it must be available on contemporary formats to continue her legacy. Shame on him. He left her in R. Kelly hands & now this. Smh. Thank you this was beyond informative and so good!!! Love this 🙌🏾
For those getting offended about Aaliyah's legacy eventually fading, we have to remember that a legacy only lasts as long as those who remember it and upholds it live. I'm an 80's baby, so once my generation die, and we will, there will be little to noone continuing to keep her name and music alive. This is especial if Aaliyah's music isn't streaming for the younger generation to be able to experience. Now I'm an Aaliyah music lover, but in all honesty I don't believe she touched generations of people but that also have a great deal to do with her demise at such a young age. I really hope her family push hard for her, if they already haven't been. She seemed genuine but that may have been her downfall. Putting trust in the wrong people. She deserves much more.
I'm glad I got physical copies of most of these albums. I had found that Libra album online years ago. That's a good album. It's a shame her uncle is a whole entire mess

Could you make a video on Kelis. Or how Azealia Banks vs the music industry. It'd have to be like intense research especially on Azealia but I think it's worth a story to tell especially since she's key reason black female rappers like Rico Nasty and Tkay Maidza exist.

There is a newer video out on TH-cam produced by the series "Into the Music" that goes into further detail as to why Aaliyah's music has been unavailable on iTunes/Spotify for the longest alongside why the blame falls entirely on Barry Hankerson and his ignorant actions penned against not just his former Blackground recording family but his own blood family (Michael, Rashad & Diane Haughton).

I feel Soo bad for JoJo. I wasn't a fan, but was amazed by her vocals and thought she deserved her rising fame. And this record label just killed her career for absolute no reason!
I still have Aaliyah's One in a Million and Aaliyah on CD. I'm literally sitting on my couch looking at shelf of CDs next to my tv and stereo... literally the 1st and 2nd CDs up on those shelves (alphabetical order by artist). In some ways, I wish Aaliyah's family was like Selena's in the way they kept up with her legacy since her death. There was a recent breakthrough with the Aaliyah MAC Collection. But we can't tell people how to grieve. They lost a daughter and sister, we only know Aaliyah as a beautiful superstar. Barry will reap what he sows and receive ultimate karma. Agreed !
Aaliyah's legacy will always remain and we fans will never forget.... Aaliyah was truly one of a kind and a true artist
So glad I bought Aaliyah’s music.
It sucks because so many people know her for her beauty but wouldn’t know her music [except her mainstream music]

Didn’t Aaliyah receive sleeping pills before the flight?

Will be sure to have our youngers and millennials discover it.
