  • Tim Cook: The man who turned Apple into the world’s first trillion-dollar company. There’s more to him than meets the eye, and while he may not’ve been the genius who invented Apple, he is the man who transformed the company into what it is today. Steve Jobs made Cook Apple’s CEO during a crucial moment in its history. The transition away from Jobs was seen as a huge risk. Since Apple began its historic downward spiral after Jobs left the company in 1985.
But Cook accepted the challenge in 2011 with a soft-spoken modesty that he’s become known for. And while his tenure as CEO hasn’t been without challenges, his leadership took Apple to places that no one ever expected. But perhaps the person most surprised was Cook himself. Who had humble beginnings not in the heart of silicon valley or San Francisco, but a small town called Mobile, Alabama.

Excellent video, very much enjoyed it.
I think one key initiative was missed: Cook has doubled down on vertical product integration, for instance by expanding the Apple in house silicon division which has lead to significant achievements like the M1. These are long term investments that will pay off for years to come and will allow Apple to build a significant advantage over most competitors.

Good point. And something not mentioned on the other side is unraveling Apple from its dependency on manufacturing in China.
Moving manufacturing to China may have been one of Tim Cook's greatest accomplishments, but that over-reliance has become a big vulnerability. IMO, Apple should have developed and maintained an alternative supply chain even if it were for only a small portion of their overall production. Having to develop that now seems like a big oversight, in retrospect.
Tim Cook should have been more wary of the authoritarian Chinese government.

He is very responsive to his customers, too! I had a problem and went directly to him. He responded the next day and I got the full VIP treatment. Who does that in business anymore! He has made me into a loyal Apple customer!

    Very good video! 👍🏼
I would argue that if Tim Cook would not have been the CEO and instead, promote a Jobs disciple, Apple would probably be a niche company with primary focus on design and gimmicky innovation. What Cook has done with Apple, despite the setbacks, is absolutely amazing. The fact that Jobs trusted him implicitly to run the company was a blessing.
I think Apple products will get better or at least remain consistent. It’s sooooooo important for Apple to avoid becoming innovative just for the sake of it. Just look at companies like Huawei, LG, etc,. They decided to build their phone businesses based on gimmicks and trying to “out-innovate” Apple. Well, you don’t hear much from them today because their focus was just becoming the latest “flash” - here and gone. No consistency.
So here’s to Apple to all the ups and downs and to the failures and successes. Integrity and consistency will always be your mantra.

yah, apple before last leg of Jobs leadership has shown that... needs special type of person to lead that company. average MBA wont cut it, like that forestall case resembles.

Constructive criticism: Greg, I would recommend checking the dates in your videos that you mention. It causes confusion and I have to go back and think of the context you may have meant and what the right date is. For example when you mentioned that Cool visited Jobs to get some short term advice- in 2001, (I assume you meant 2011).
