    When I first started out in the construction field I was a helper to the GC and we had to dig a wine cellar in this nasty and rocky Virginia red clay mostly by hand as the backhoe broke several teeth in the first foot of the dig. That one was a tough job. Your job portrayed here is most excellent. Good job and thank you for sharing.

    Great Video and information. I picked up a few really good tips, thank you! I did my own 1,700 square foot basement. I live in Minnesota it is code to put at least 4" of rock over the poly and put in drain tile and a sump basket. If you get high radon levels it is cheaper to retrofit the system in if the rock is already there. If the water table goes up you are protected. I WILL NOT do a job if they will not put in floor heat tubing, it is cheap to do and a boiler or water heater can be added later. I bought a 20' and 40' conveyors for $3,000, it was cheaper to buy than rent since I will do a few more jobs.

    Having a conveyor belt running from outside into the work area so you could just dump the dirt straight onto it and it then dumps directly into a truck or something would save a lot of manual handling...

    Great pace for this type of construction which I enjoy. Nice job with no drama as it is supposed to go, hiring a firm with expirence in this type of job pays dividends. Do you vibrate the concrete or use a loose mix, because when you remove forms concrete seems free of voids? Thanks Ray Stormont

    Can you recommend what special water barrier material you guys use when underpinning the walls? So first you dig out a section of dirt, then you put up this yellow membrane before you pour your concrete wall... Is that just the water proof membrane made for doing shower tile? Or what is it called/where do you get it? I think it is a crucial detail to get right.

    I would like to have a basement dig out done. I have read that footers should be done in one pour and the same with a poured wall because of cold joints. I have read that cold joints are weak points. My thoughts is though isn't every joint on a block and mortar wall a cold joints?

    Looks awesome, as all your digouts do.
    Do you tie the footers together with rebar? Or are they stable enough separately to not need it?
    And regarding weather and rain not affecting the work, in your video of the collapsing house from a few weeks back you mentioned the rainy weather around the time of that failure. Is rain in general a huge threat, or is a failure such as that more likely caused by improper digging/ insufficient support left for the foundation?

    • @matthodel946
      @matthodel946 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure if the footers get tied together, they do seem to come into the room quite a long way, probably to counter the underpinned wall forces from rolling inwards. I've seen plumbers jack hammer through them later for underslab plumbing that gets too close to exterior walls. Regarding details, it's a soils testing condition, existing building load study, every site could be different regarding the detailing of the footers. Rain isn't a big deal for those who prethink and select the right job types. Good gutters, downspouts with huge leaders piping water far away into yard, proper drainage, visqueen to keep water out around the home. Denver has crazy flash flood rain events, be prepared or suffer.

    • @stevewort
