True, Japanese industries manufactured one of the best fighter plane, Etc. Technology level stood equal or more to Europe, America during World War II. That was not few decades ago, but more than half century ago!
When will people get it through their heads, these things (Korean, Indian, Malaysian, Chinese etc) cars depreciate so much and so fast, it's false economy. You ARE paying more than you would for a proper car. It's simple maths people.
no, what i am trying to say is that aston martin is owned by a person from the country it is from, while rover is owned by a foreigner, which means it is not a true british car manufacturer.
ya actually I think what you said it's right, cars are pricy there. 10k for a chery? here you can get a brand new chery for about 1.7k or you can spend about 20k for a new BMW, or likw 13k for a brand new hyundai i30.
i didnt really like aussie top gear at first. but they're getting into the groove now and forming their own identity and i like it i think its much better. the comedy isn't as forced. having said that they dont really have as clearly defined personalities as the uk guys so original is still better obviously.
Actually owned a Chery (QQ) for 6 years and it was TERRIBLE. The total cost of the maintenance through the ownership was probably equivalent to a new mini hatchback. Sold it and bought a Japanese Toyota hatchback instead and it was the best decision of my life.
Mostly gearbox or shock absorer. The gearbox in that thing was a 5-speed Auto-Manual gearbox and was easy to go bad. The shock absorber cracked and had to be replaced like 4 times.
山内淳カイル my fren faced the same issue as well and it only last for 3 years b4 the fuel pipe burst and set the thing on fire - Really not joking. And yet things go worse is that he cant claim insurance for this model of car here in my country then he later on bought a Proton Satria not a bad car but at least it doesnt break down like the Chevy does and it is 4 years for the Proton and now still running. And greetings from me from Malaysia.
300kg payload? That's four ISO standard passengers and no luggage ... damn. My 1990 Polo took 450 legally... And 250g/km CO2, goddamn. That's more than twice my own car. From 2003. With about the same engine power. And more than some quite fast sportscars and heavy SUVs. How do they even manage to pump that much out?
they dont make cars per se, but they manufacture cars, like there is toyota autrailia, chrysler, nissan, british leyland, mitsubishi etc. They are capable but they dont, maybe the market or something, i mean japan is right north of them lol. but they do make high tech ships and vessels etc. ( i am not austrailian )
This is the first Australian Top Gear episode I've ever seen......and I'm hoping it will be the last. Those guys have all of the charm and charisma of a wet fart.
This guy is so brave for riding in a Chinese car. I think no insurance company would insure such crapy machines which are designed for crushing toddlers on the streets.
Alto also has ESP and many other safety features and while we had it, it was a joy to drive for a car in the class.. For a cheap car, the Alto is great value.
Christ, I thought the recall we had to do on the new Jettas was stupid. They forgot one screw at the factory in the dash. At least they don't have band-aid safety measures. Scary.
From what I know, Chinese-made cars are lot more reliable than they appear to be. I once had this chat with a cab driver in China, he told me the average kms cabs do is 1,000,000, with very minimum maintains whatsoever. But I admit, I would not buy a J1 either. Chinese car makers still have a long way to go.
I disagree. I think Top Gear USA came into it's own. It took a while, and it still needs some polish, but I like the hosts and they have their chemistry coming along. And I'd rather sit through that than Twilight any day.
I heard that all cars in Australia have government-mandated speed limiters. You can't exceed the speed limit even if you wanted to. Australians are safety-conscious to the point of timidity. Plus, they mount their steering wheels on the passenger side. How weird is that?
Not true at all Australians and safety lol we are so behind every first world country lead was banned in 2010 asbestos 2001 we had cars with one airbag in 2007
It seems a lot like a longer version of Clarkson's rather destructive "review" of the Perodua Kelisa waybackwhen ... it's a perfectly good method of transporting yourself around, but it's about as interesting and high-spec as a budget dishwasher. You're just better off, for the same money, buying a higher class 2 or 3 year old one that's been run in by someone else...
the worst cars ever i hate working on them, have to replace front seat backs and put braces in b pillars and centre console just to make it safe for our roads, SHITBOXES, the amount of rust claims on them already with less than 10 klms on them aswell... could go on forever
Just several decades ago, Japanese and Korean cars were described as "fake Germany car" "Fake American car" or simply crap. It won't be easy for China to catch up. China did not have lots of experiences in building cars, and as a matter of fact most Chinese won't buy a low-quality Chinese car. But Chinese car maker certainly has lots of potential, Chinese can build reliable rockets, manned spacecarft, they cannot make high-quality cars?
God, Top Gear Australia, possibly one of the worst shows ive ever watched. the day after the first ep was aired every news channel was slamming the show as terrible across the board, they advertised the second ep of the first season... then promptly aired the show at midnight and stopped advertising it. At least Top Gear USA learned the lessons from Australia and made the show GOOD
well, you said the quickest, not the fastest accelerating... for acceleration there s the Porsche Panamera Turbo S which can do 0-60 in 3.3s, too quick for aussies to beat anyway
The difference between Top Gear USA and Top Gear Australia, is that TGA makes somewhat unique challenges, while TGUSA is just ripping off every single challenge TGUK has ever made... Also, TGA is actually quite entertaining. I would not really consider Top Gear USA being entertaining...
Shane Fell all the toyotas are tested in Japan in very very harsh conditions e.g. to find design faults and ride comfort. It's basically a torture circuit for a car testing the suspension in potholes over and over etc.
Paramount+ Top Gear Australia should do a topic about Crash and burn Daewoo Kalos, Use and abuse Holden Barina sedan and Throw Chery Omoda under the bus.

@REPOMAN24722 I think you are partially right, China is famous for imitation rather than inovation. However, it is so common that people copy from each other, even US and Russian keep stealing technologies, the most important thing here is you just cannot rely on stealing things, you should make something new based on previous tech. I would say this is a process of learning, you learn how to copy first, and then you learn how to create new things.
The bagpipe player going over the bumps made me laugh out loud.
Okay, I was in stitches the whole time, far better than Top Gear USA.
And look how far they’ve come in 12 years.
I have never seen a car test like this one.

Under GM and Ford there are Australian made and designed cars actually.
Top gear (UK) is the best top gear but I like top gear australia, and they are a lot better than the excuse for a motoring show top gear us.

You know, you can legally buy and drive a Chery in HongKong. So, by all means, insurance companies do insure this car.

The "look-at-the-arms-guy" kinda reminded me of Brucie Kibbutz from GTA 4
Illegal to sell in Victoria, due to no ESC.
At least Victorians can breath easy. Chery J1s were no longer registered on state roads saved lives.

3 years later a new Micra without ac, power windows and locks, and equipped with a manual transmission is shy of 10 grand in canada.
was it really necessary to make a car show just to dis a Chinese car ? why don't they make a show to dis themselves for having no cars ?

I have to say the australian top gear track is a hundred times better than the UK one. Far better at actually testing the handling
Alto also has ESP and many other safety features and while we had it, it was a joy to drive for a car in the class.. For a cheap car, the Alto is great value.
I liked the idea that the car took the test and came out with all parts in place. However, in Egypt, it is sold for USD 10k and that's far too much.
This is no testing , they must have tested it off road
that's one tough little box lol
