Good every part of coconut tree is usefull, I've never seen this before as a eatable. Wish to have if i get chance.

It is coconut tree stem only, not banana plant like some suggestions here. It is the topmost portion of the coconut tree. Hence, it is very delicate and delicious.. cutting that part means killing the whole tree. So it is done only when the whole tree needs to be cut down.

Childhood days was fun and memorial. We ate this a lot especially during monsoon as coconut trees tend to fall due to heavy breeze.

Do not encourage this food. If the coconut tree naturally fell down and the people eating the stem, that's fine. But for selling this, they are cutting lot of coconut trees. Each and every stem is from a tree destroyed. Please stop encouraging this food. There are other healthy eatable parts of coconut trees, have them without cutting the trees.
One guy sells at least 10stems a day.
10*365 = 3650 trees gone in one year.
Imagine if 100 people were doing this business.
100*3650= 365000 trees gone.

It tastes like solidified coconut milk with a nice crunch. But sadly the tree has to be cut to obtain this.
