Tony your videos have always be great and with lots of info but to your credit they just keep getting better. I really liked how you got the people in the street involved. The girl scout troop was a hoot. How in the world did you get them to work along with you? Now, the ending was perfect. As soon as the actress walked by the door I started laughing. What a wonderful job with this video. Keep up the good work. Jon
I almost forgot about newspapers. I haven't picked up of those up in 15 years. When I'm in Bangkok or other cities in Thailand, I simply use Google Maps Street View to find the exact location. On the rare occasion I can't find a location, I just call and ask them to click on Google Maps on their specific location & text/email me the GPS coordinates. Then a simple True Tourist SIM card with data (very cheap) and a GPS enabled smartphone using Google Maps is all you need. Google Maps even tells you the departure times of the BTS, MRT, and bus lines on your route. Plus, you can request the leasing agent email or upload a video of the unit in question before you make a special trip to the property.. Problem solved.
Mission accomplished! Great video. awesome production, very professional... Have any suggestions for air travel between China and Thailand and possibly to Japan from Thailand?
Be aware of using agents. They charge several months commission to the person renting the place out. And guess who's pocket this comes eventually comes out from. This is just a promotional video. Believe me as a 30 year Bangkok veteran, you can find a place by yourself.
Globalmodels Dotbiz The video isn't for a 30 year veteran. It's for people new to Bangkok. For many people it can be an overwhelming process to find an apartment in a country where they don't speak the language, they don't understand the norms in real estate, and they need to find a place quickly. I agree that if you know your way around Bangkok, an agent is of little value to you. But when I first moved to Bangkok my agent took care of everything for me. Cable, electric, water, etc were all set up and I had a full year to figure everything out on my own. And my agent even helped me negotiate an early end to the lease and got my full security deposit returned.
Very good video for those who are interested in Bangkok, from where I just left from a week's holiday.Maybe next time if I want to stay longer,I will try to rent a good apartment too.Thanks., good job.
western expat living in Bangkok, been here for 18 years I have a huge arts 8 bed room house with rooms to rent there is a huge kitchen where you can cook. wifi. Fresh food market, kho san road and access to the river are all in walking distance. beautiful views from some of the rooms of Rama 8 bridge. and a roof top garden with a bar, communal living room. and an art studio/garage. we are located under rama 8
Thanks ... loved this video. I only went apartment shopping once, with a friend who was retiring from the U.S. To bangkok. That's my dream. To leave NYC forever ... I just don't have the bucks ... and Bangkok doesn't have the jobs. But great video.
Omg thanks for your vid. Im a student and wik be going to thailand for a semester. Im very limited in funds and pay out of pocket for school. I have a few questions regarding apts. Do you mind helping to answer some, plz??
A year to figure out everything on your own? Most apartments come already with water and electricity. Then it's a one stop to True for Internet and Cable. Even a newbie can figure out on his own. The examples leading up to the promo were funny but not realistic. If you're not of an exploring type, use a site like thaiapartment.com and save yourself the hassle of being overcharged.
I found this vdo is very useful. I'm Thai and work as international student co-ordinator which means I have to deal with their 'apartment hunting' at least twice a year (each last about 1 month, give or take). Being Thai doesn't mean I can find apartment easier. Thanks Google earth that help me narrow places down (ruled out bad environment places) and estimate distance.
How many times did you change your shirt? It looks like you never sweat! ;D Great Video! I´m in about the same situation currently in Chiang Mai! How do you finance your stay in Bangkok? 25000 baht would be a bit too much for me.... Poor student...
This and THEM would be the "NOT THE WAY TO DO IT" lol... you could use our service so you wouldnt have to see an appartment or townhouse or condo or house without knowing EXACTLY how it looks and as well as a travel shoot of video from the local transportation to the home...... VERY good for finding a place in Thailand, just send us a message and we will make it all RIGHT !!!
This is deffo NOT the way to find a place to live in Thailand: stay away from farang agents, who make a month's rent commission if you rent the place they show you. You will be asked for TWO months deposit (one goes directly to the agent), when the norm is ONE month. And, yes you will pay a huge premium for being close to the BTS, especially if you live in a touristy area. Not speaking/reading Thai cost you a lot, too. Take a Thai friend to help you, and just walk around the area you like.
I love their description of "open air design". LOL!! Btw, great and extremely useful information - thanks for sharing.
"Our boss likes pink walls but he's not gay" Hilarious.
Fun and educational as always Tony! Well done.
Fantastic video! I love seeing the streets and the realities rather than just rants in bedrooms. Good job.

Nana is similar to heaven I believe, or hell, depending on what you like. When you are on the BTS (skytrain) they pronounce is more like Naa-naa
