I caved. Bought the 75th LCP max 6 weeks ago… and today I picked up the bodyguard 2.0 … god dammit it just feels too good in the hand. With that 12 rounder in? Psh game over.
Just purchased two bodyguard 2.0's. One for me and one for my wife. One works perfectly with hundreds of rounds. The other one will not fire at all because the unfired round jams in the chamber locking the slide forward slightly out of battery. I had to push the slide against the range table to finally get the cartridge out. Did this with PMC Bronze FMJ and Remington Hollow Points. Did it with both the 10 round and 12 round mags from both guns. It is off to S&W for warranty. I figure that the chamber is out of spec. I tried putting a round into the chamber with the barrel out of the gun. It was very difficult to remove the cartridge. Did the same with the good gun and the cartridge would fall out on its own. Love, love, love the gun. I just got a bad one and a good one.
My experience with LCP, LCP2, LCP Max, Bodyguard, Glock 42 - never had any issues. I still think the micro compact, 6+1 guns have their place, but there are fewer and fewer instances when they make sense over the LCP Max (and now the Bodyguard 2.0). I'll be picking up a 2.0 at the soonest because I think it will be taking the primary place as my pocket-size option.
Love how you fully explain your reasoning, because it’s what the special use for you is. I do just frames for times with the kid for very similar reasons as you, but I also Carry compact + on other situations. What matters to me is that we carry and test what we use.
Need a Kahr cw380. Smaller than Glock and nicer than Ruger. Never understood why they aren’t more popular. It was striker fired when literally every other 380 was hammer fired. I shot it next to the Bodyguard 2.0 last week, it’s still a great option if you’re ok with 6+1.
I am a striker fired guy and Kahr triggers are terrible to me...Just mushy crap...I used to own a Kahr P45, it was a nice gun but hated the trigger.. You could never predict when the shot would break..
Kahr P380 and CW380 capacity is 6+1 (7+1 with MagGuts), are +P rated, have a phenomenal trigger and are only .75" thick which is .02" thicker than the Beretta Pico but the Kahr's are smaller overall. Granted, they have a long pull, but it's butter smooth... like a very good double action revolver. It'll be hard to unseat it as my pocket carry but I'm going to give the Bodyguard 2.0 a chance to do so. Surprised you don't have one on the table as they're very nice in every way. Yeah... I'm biased for now. Nice video!
I know the P365-380 falls into a slightly larger size category, but I find it the perfect size for the .380 ACP cartridge. Bonus that you can get 15 round mags for the 365 as well. 🙂
This new Smith looks great! Much better than first bodyguard. I also recommend the Kahr P380.....and I have had good luck with the discontinued Taurus PT 738 TCP.
Spn! How does it compare in size for the reflex? I have yet to find any local stores with the Bg 2.0 in stock and am curious how it sizes up with the reflex. The reflex is my smallest handgun but am really looking for a pocket carry and the price on this thing seems to seal the deal.

The Glock 42 is one of my favorite pistols to shoot at the range. Most small .380s can't fill that role. But if the BG 2.0 shoots as well as you say it does, then it has a real contender as a multi-role pistol.
I have a Diamondback DB9 that I use specifically for pocket carry however one thing I dislike about it is how it doesn’t have any type of safety on it whatsoever. The trigger is also quite light. It’s the smallest 9mm pistol you can buy but I think I’m okay with going down to .380 ACP for the M&P 2.0

I just went to the range today to fire mine for first time. Out of 50 rounds fired, I had 4 light strikes (failure to fire). I put one of those light strike rounds in my LCP Max and boom. There’s something wrong with the striker in my NEW Bodyguard 2.0. It’s going back to SW for evaluation.

Good neighborhood argument makes no sense. Criminals travel to commit crime. I grew up in a town with lots of poverty, drug crime, and gang crime, so im not stranger to violence. Now that I've grown up I've moved into the middle class suburbs without much crime. However, the crime here is from people from a nearby town traveling here to vommit crime (lot more expensive stuff to steal here than there). Just because we aren't commiting crimes in our communities does mean someone else wont enter them and do so. So yeah, a living in a nice place doesn't mean anything. Can't count the stories of people in nice suburbs being killed. When you buy a handgun you're not just buying it to be prepared at a sketchy gas station you're buying it to be prepared at all times.
I will be honest, I have no need for a pocket pistol, but I wanted this little pistol as soon as I held it. So of course it came home with me immediately after that.👊 I have not had much time with it, I've only put 5 mags down range to make sure it functions. Plus I didn't have any .380 ammo as this is my only .380, I had to go get some. The only other S&W I have is the Equalizer, and they are very similar pistols and they shoot very similarly, obviously the Boduguard 2.0 is smaller, but it is like the shrank the Equalizer into the Bodyguard 2.0👊

Yes, my local Vance Outdoors sold out quickly and now taking orders. I have one purchased and waiting on its arrival ... they are selling a bunch of these
Been watching vids all week wanting a pocket pistol for jogs, in sweats/shorts or anything w/o belt, bought lcp max today cause it was only one that had a 10+ mag. Otw to shoot at my range I found two videos (others must have been 3+ months old) and they talked about BG 2.0 and how it’s the cremè de la cremè, same capacity. I was getting anxious thinking how I basically spent the same money not knowing this was even a thing. Got to the range and was disappointed in myself because they had both as a rental. I decided to shoot my ruger. 100rd later I tried their BG 2.0. Phew, on all levels. Anyway, I made the wrong choice.
I own the original M&P Bodyguard 380 & the Ruger 380 MAX and found the Ruger MAX far more pleasant to shoot as it had a wider pistol grip which made it more comfortable to shoot but BOTH are accurate and I can ring the steel at 50 yards. I checked out the new Bodyguard 380 at the store and the pistol grip felt like it was gonna feel as UNCOMFORTABLE as the original....
What? How can you hold the Ruger or the old bodyguard and then say the new bodyguard is uncomfortable? BG2.0 is the absolute most comfortable and ergonomic pocket pistol I have ever held. I held it sxs with my current pocket carry lcp and it's time to sell the lcp and get the BG2.
@@preston1614 I said I held it but have NOT shot it and simply based on such a narrow gun it reminds me why the original Bodyguard was uncomfortable because it was snappy and the narrow pistol grip hurt the web of the hand. As I hear from many other videos, they addressed the snappiness so issue of hurting the web of the hand may no longer be the issue..... In regard to the ergonomics, YES they are BETTER and I like the pistol grip angle, typical M&P. I am a BIG M&P 2.0 fan. I will wait for Academy to offer the 10% Veteran Discount in the fall. BTW, the Bodyguard 2.0 that I held has an external safety...
I need at least 10 round. I would rather have them and not need them.Thats why I didnt get the DB9 even do I like it. I did want another pocket pistol as a backup to the LCP max but it seems like the bodyguard 2 will be my main pocket pistol whenever I get it( definetly no time soon).
I'm waiting for Vedder to make a Pocket Locker holster for the Bodyguard 2.0 as well as for it to come down in price a little bit. I enjoy my Ruger LCP MAX but it looks like the Bodyguard 2.0 is the last .380 CC pistol I will ever need lol.
@@DarlingEbony Underwood's 68 grain "Defender" is rated for 1300FPS and actually outperforms it's +P brother which is rated for 1400FPS. Yeah... I don't understand it either but I've watched several videos proving it.
8:19 There are people who don't pocket carry these guns, instead they do IWB or OWB with these. That's why the SIG P365 quickly made their gun optic ready, and most of the followers (S&W and Ruger included) are doing it for the same reason. One can choose to pocket carry, and not installed a red dot, but other can stick it in the waist band and choose to put a red dot on it, and optic readiness makes more people choose the way that works for them :)
i think a big reason why pocket pistols aren't optics ready is that no one makes optics small enough to fit them. i've never owned a pocket pistol, but to my knowledge, most of them are an inch or less in width, and most of the optics i've handled, the mounting screws would be too far apart to mount to something that small. i'd be intrigued if someone came out with something small enough for a pocket pistol though
Slide literally isn't wide enough. If you want an optic, get an optic ready pistol and carry this in addition to our in lieu of the optic cut pistol. That's my use case for it. I will always carry my MC9 with holosun EPS Carry and default to it unless I literally can't and I have use cases when I can't.
You’re right about capacity with the new bodyguard 2.0, but like I’ve asked you before and you never answered, why not review the Kahr PM9, CM9, or MK9. It’s smaller than the bodyguard 2.0 and uses 9mm. With the magguts +1 extensions you can get 6+1 or 7+1.
There is definitely more than one good micro gun out there. Case in point: the S&W CSX. The CSX is a very good little gun. However the CSX is a hammer pistol, not a striker pistol.

Can’t wait to get my hands on one but they’re selling out at all my local shops as fast as they come in
Yes, my local Vance Outdoors sold out quickly and now taking orders. I have one purchased and waiting on its arrival ... they are selling a bunch of these
I carry a LCP max everyday i just might have to swap it for the S&W bodyguard 2.0 after seeing this video !
I hope you use a pocket holster. I upgraded from a Sticky holster to a Vedder pocket holster a year ago and love it.
Great video, thanks!
Great content. Could you tell me what baseplate you're running on your g42?
For a women is the recoil manageable ? comparable to the Security 380?
I have the Spectrum with magguts 8 + 1 with the extended mag. 7 + 1 with the flush mag. Seems smaller than the 2.0
You should check out the browning 1911 380!
What kind of baseplate is that on your g42? @SPN Firearms
Why do i never see a Browning black lable 380 on these list. Thin with a great trigger and 4.25 in barrel..
Good review
Does Taurus even still make the Spectrum?
I need at least 10 round. I would rather have them and not need them.Thats why I didnt get the DB9 even do I like it. I did want another pocket pistol as a backup to the LCP max but it seems like the bodyguard 2 will be my main pocket pistol whenever I get it( definetly no time soon).
Carry an extra mag lol
Should wait awhile for recalls and such before we grab one correct ?
@Bighannes410 yea for sure, im hearing about some mag problems already
@luismalave4887 I do. what's faster, mag reload or having more in your current mag?
I'm waiting for Vedder to make a Pocket Locker holster for the Bodyguard 2.0 as well as for it to come down in price a little bit. I enjoy my Ruger LCP MAX but it looks like the Bodyguard 2.0 is the last .380 CC pistol I will ever need lol.
I can imagine how easy it would be to carry in a shoulder holster, or a cross draw holster.
How many vids are we gonna see about this thing 🤣
Bad areas find their way to good neighborhoods. So you are never really safe.
Its a shame the bodyguard has a longer barrel than the Max. If im front pocket carrying I want he barrel to be as short as possible.
You would lose so much muzzle velocity you’d essentially have a snub nose revolver at that point but weaker and less reliable
If you live in a nice area... You're a target lady.
I got the bodyguard 2.0 but I had the regular lcp .380 !
I am about to buy one of these Bodyguards 2.0. For those who have bought one, is it +P rated?
No 380 is, as there is no official SAAMI designation for 380+p
@@vlogfriendsutopia OK. I was wondering because Underwood has a .380 P+ and one other company does. Thanks for the info.
Yeah it's a pretty thin barrel, manual says not recommended
@@rushthezeppelin Again, thank you so much!
@@DarlingEbony Underwood's 68 grain "Defender" is rated for 1300FPS and actually outperforms it's +P brother which is rated for 1400FPS. Yeah... I don't understand it either but I've watched several videos proving it.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a pocket holster for the Bodyguard 2.0? Vedder doesn’t have an option.
Say you have it and get killed immediately. Non sense.
You’re 30!!, thought you was 21
I think S&W suggests NOT using +p in the new 2.0 from what I’ve heard. Not 100 percent.
The manual says +P not recommended, but I doubt occasional use would not hurt.
It's a pretty thin barrel, I'm not going to use +p in it.
This is way smaller. The p365 was made as a main carry. There are legit pocket pistols way way smaller.
Sig 365 is much larger than all of these guns.

No Hellcat 13+1?
Was about to ask if you ever got the pico running right…. Then you threw it lol
Anyone find a kydex pocket holster for the 2.0 yet?
thank you !! 🙏🏼
vs my Glock 42?
👍🇺🇸
You’re right about capacity with the new bodyguard 2.0, but like I’ve asked you before and you never answered, why not review the Kahr PM9, CM9, or MK9.
It’s smaller than the bodyguard 2.0 and uses 9mm. With the magguts +1 extensions you can get 6+1 or 7+1.
There is definitely more than one good micro gun out there. Case in point: the S&W CSX. The CSX is a very good little gun. However the CSX is a hammer pistol, not a striker pistol.
This may be a reach and maybe you already have a video, but can you review the shield plus 30 SC?
In regards to the “nice area” comment. Remember, the ‘have nots’ come to where the ‘haves’ live.
