Any mascera by itself smudges under my eyes, so usually I use a waterproof mascera then when it dries I use clear mascera over it and it doesn't smudge
Also it works for bottom eyeliner. Just dab the clear mascara wand end on the eyeliner once you're done. I've gone in the pool dunking under a bunch and it hasn't budged

Do you have oily skin? I find that if I haven't set my undereye area, or if my concealer is tacky, it'll grab mascara (even waterproof). I've been battling mascara transfer for a while now myself. I'm going to try these tips though- seems like it'll work.
I have combination skin. But it is really oily in the T zone, especially my nose. I always set my undereye area with powder, but the mascara still tranfers. Maybe it's because of my eye shape or something.
Guys, I've finally found a trick that works for me! :) I used to think that my case had no hope, but I found a way. No smudging. At. All. So what I do is when I apply my foundation, primer, and concealer, I make sure there is none of those creamy/liquid-y products on the area where my mascara would usually smudge (which is the outer half of my lower lash line). I would wipe it away with a clean finger and then set everything with powder as usual. Then there would be no smudging. Even if I skipped the step of applying powder to my lashes before mascara (like I usually would to help prevent smudging), it would not smudge. I hope this will help you all with smudging problems :)

I think my problem this whole time has been too much on the brush and not letting them dry before blinking and starting my day. Cuz my makeup would be flawless, highlight and contour, everything. I am 36, in the 24 years I have been wearing makeup, I have NEVER found a non waterproof mascara that doesnt run on me, even though I never wear it on the lower lashes.I do what you said months ago- wear a non waterproof mascara UNDER a waterproof mascara- that way it never runs while Im wearing it, and then the regular mascara underneath makes it easier to get off. Blinc mascara is my favorite. It doesn't give any volume, but it gives a beautiful, natural deepening color to the lashes and will not smear due to the tubes. I love it!
Wayne you're a genius! My favourite mascara for not smudging is Blinc. Instead of painting the lashes it forms tubes around them that are honestly indestructible until you need to take it off, which you can do with warm water and gentle rubbing. You can cry and rub your eyes but it will stay there. My favorite everyday mascara as it is very subtle but still defining.
I rarely wear mascara, but I did have this green one once that I'd wear quite often. It was waterproof too. I have no idea who made it, but I loved that stuff! These days I just wear liner type eye shadows in a light golden and glittery tones, something just barely noticeable, but still gives me a bit of sparkle. TFS luv! The best way I've found is to put a card, (I like to use a business card) right behind my lashes so that the whole lash is touching the card from base to tip. This helps not only prevent smudging but it also helps to coat the whole lash and separate them.

curl the lashes...apply mascara...then place a tissue on the lower lashes and blink to blot off the excess mascara after that apply a bit of loose powder on bottom to prevent smudging
Great tips, as usual! I suffered from mascara smudging for a long time cause I have extremely oily skin. But then I've tried Clinique Lash Power Mascara (it's tubing mascara) and finally this problem went away!
My favorite mascara is the Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara in either Waterproof or Regular formula and i believe it does help my lashes grow as it claims!

Mascara transferring to my under eye area is by FAR my biggest makeup issue! Lately, I've been using Covergirl waterproof Clump Crusher. WOW is all I can say. For years I was spending $20 on (what I thought) my HG Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes. So done with that, I'll keep my $8 tube! It's truly been a life saver, just another example of a drugstore product blowing a high end option out of the water for me! Not that I could ever part from Sephora, though!

I put on a thin coat of waterproof mascara (Makeup forever...), then my favorite mascara, then another thin coat of waterproof....I have very long lashes and this works well for me....I think I saw this tip on ur vid about how to keep the curl in ur lashes...you suggested this very technique! I've had this problem all my adult life but now I have found 2 mascaras that NEVER smudge on me. 1. Eyekco curvy mascara and 2. Liz Earle mascara. Both ate brilliant but my ultimate favourite is Liz Earle worn on top of the LE lash primer. I promise it is brilliant!!
I've had good luck with loreal million lashes waterproof. Plus you can do a natural or super dramatic look with it, depending on how many coats you use

I had the same problem a while ago as i wear lots and lots of mascara, and i noticed when i was taking of my mascara off a lot of lashes were falling out! I think it was due to how i was removing my mascara..I now always use bioderma cleanser to remove my mascara as it gets everything off in one swipe of a cotton pad!!..I would recommend Revlon Grow Lushious Mascara as this does help grow your lashes and make them look and feel fuller again :)
Whenever I buy other products I try and collect disposable silicone mascara wands from MAC and Channel counters. I apply my mascara with a clean wand using the wand from the tube of mascara to apply to the disposable one. This uses very little product. And it stops bacteria from multiplying in my mascara tube. I use a small toothbrush I keep for the purpose of washing the disposable silicone wand that way I can use it more than once. I use regular soap and water to clean off the wand and leave

I swear by L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes. It NEVERRRR smudges on me. Period. I have been using it since it came out and have tried using different things but it is always reliable so even if I use a different type on my upper lashes, I use that one on my lower. Perhaps you could try it out suggest it to your viewers!
All I was thinking about when you were talking about blinking and looking down/up before the mascara is dry was how I always feel like sneezing after I apply mascara :)) There was a time when I couldn't even help it and I used to blacken my whole lower eyelid!

I have had huge problems with mascaras smudging onto my browbone because my lashes are so long, but I've discovered that Covergirl water resistant mascaras prevent the smudging, while remaining easy to remove at the end of the day. Covergirl's water resistant formulas are the only ones I've ever used that haven't smudged on me, including completely waterproof mascara from other brands.
Good tips. I wish I knew of a good waterproof mascara, one that leaves lashes soft but still holds up. My favorite mascaras are tarte gifted, tarte lights camera lashes, Mally volumizing, and Diorshow.
my eyelashes are so curly and long(I really love them) and I usually use the "take the smudged mascara off your face once it has dried" technique and it works very well. The problem I sometimes have is that over time what happens is my bottom lashes rub against my face while I smile throughout the day and it transfers. I usually use Mirenesse's iCurl tubing mascara. After years of trying other brands, having allergic reactions and basically very few good results, I've found a brand which consistently works for me.
Try Sens'Eyes by Makeup Forever. It removes all makeup from the eyes or lips, including anything waterproof. It is also great for sensitive eyes. Hope that helps.
I use L'oreal double extend beauty tubes mascara. It does not smudge and comes off easily with warm water. The formula coats your lashes with tubes. It is not waterproof so is not suitable for swimming or crying.
WAYNE! You have to try the Falsies Feather-Look from Maybelline, it's amazing! This mascara isn't waterproof, but I have cried my eyes out and the mascara was still looking natural and perfect as can be, the only thing that happened was I lost the curl only because I don't have that naturally. This mascara looks amazing, and makes your lashes soft and stays put all day long! Best mascara I've ever tried!
thanks for the tip about the powder! thats a new one. i have almost always used drugstore mascaras but even waterproof ones aren't great for preventing smudging. the giorgio armani eyes to kill waterproof mascara (in silver tube), however, resisted smudging for me this entire summer though which was impressive.

You should try switching to gel liner - much darker and doesn't move all day, even if you sleep with it on, stays put! Otherwise try going over your eye pencil with eyeshadow as that is meant to keep it in place x
I have been using a Anastasia Lash Genius mascara top coat. It works. Most mascaras even waterproof make me look like a racoon. But using this ' stays on all day! I had lancome sample and a Estee Lauder mascara and they still smudged . But Everything else. . Looks great all day.
Hi Goss. Thanks for all your great videos. I find that my eye cream makes my mascara run. I couldn't figure out why my waterproof mascara started running when in the past it was very good till I tried wearing it without applying eye cream first. It made a lot of difference. So that could be the root of some people's smudging problems.
i looooove mabelline mascaras.. Falsies original is beautiful and the plush original is great for thickening and curling.. the waterproof versions don't have the same effect of curl and volume but they are still good mascaras in general for no smudge and they usually never clump when i do my mascara for the original or the waterproof formulas

I have blepharitis, a medical condition that gives me incredibly oily lids. After years of experimenting, I've settled for 2 holy grail products : Helena Rubinstein sexy lash waterproof mascara and Majorca majorlica lash expander (this one is literally bulletproof). I've had my fair share of being raccoon end eye at the end of the night. I also have hooded eyelids which worsen the problem. I recommend UD primer potion with mufe aqua liquid eyeliner to stop liner smudging. @sopchan , HTH!
My fave mascara is Chanel Inimitable. But my fave waterproof is Estee Lauder Doublewear Waterproof -- I'm not usually and EL fan but got this as a sample and keep repurchasing it - it does not move, even from bottom lashes.
No matter whether I use waterproof or not my mascara always smudges.... I decided that maybe the best way of tackling this was to go a high-end brand.. I went through all sorts and found nothing had changed much until I finally found the best mascara by far I have ever used. My lashes are super long, not spidery, I have no smudging or flaking and it has a big fat brush which I love! clinique lash power feathering mascara... honestly 😍. The only downside is I wish there was more product in a bigger tube.
What is the best and most gentle way to remove waterproof mascara? I tried it once and I LOVED how it held the curl in my lashes but it's a pain in the buns to remove!

I find the waterproof mascara dilutes nicely with the natural oils in the eye area, and smudges beautifully like a wash of black water-color. I find that a NON-waterproof mascara doesn't dilute like waterproof, but it still smudges.
For those who have hooded and/or oily lids, try the Sensai/Kanebo 38ºC Mascara. It's water- and oilresistant. Works great for me. Never smudged since I used it. Your tips are sooo brilliant and you're an absolutly smart and lovely guy ... with also georgious eyes :-) Love your vids!!
When I prime my EYELIDS (not lashes) I tend not to have mascara problems. If I don't put a primer I will have mascara bleed down in minutes. So even if I just wear mascara and no eye shadow, I prime. That's my tip :-)
me too, however I'm keen to try a technique suggested above.......apply regular mascara, then clear mascara over the top - I guess the theory is that only the clear will smudge, and because it's clear there will be no visible residue. :D
your skin tone looks darker and so nice. how do you recommend getting a nice color like that without roasting in the sun? or getting wrinkles. i'd like to know, it makes your eyes pop. i'm about as fair as yourself

I use the Lash Power Mascara from Clinique. Since I use it I have no problems with smudging at all. Highly recommended!

Good tips. I wish I knew of a good waterproof mascara, one that leaves lashes soft but still holds up. My favorite mascaras are tarte gifted, tarte lights camera lashes, Mally volumizing, and Diorshow.
my eyelashes are so curly and long(I really love them) and I usually use the "take the smudged mascara off your face once it has dried" technique and it works very well. The problem I sometimes have is that over time what happens is my bottom lashes rub against my face while I smile throughout the day and it transfers. I'll try out only applying mascara to the root and not the tip technique! Thanks Wayneeeeeee
I usually use Mirenesse's iCurl tubing mascara. After years of trying other brands, having allergic reactions and basically very few good results, I've found a brand which consistently works for me.
I like Tarte mascara. It is fabulous on my very short eyelashes and it doesn't budge the whole day!
Try Sens'Eyes by Makeup Forever. It removes all makeup from the eyes or lips, including anything waterproof. It is also great for sensitive eyes. Hope that helps.
I use L'oreal double extend beauty tubes mascara. It does not smudge and comes off easily with warm water. The formula coats your lashes with tubes. It is not waterproof so is not suitable for swimming or crying.

WAYNE! You have to try the Falsies Feather-Look from Maybelline, it's amazing! This mascara isn't waterproof, but I have cried my eyes out and the mascara was still looking natural and perfect as can be, the only thing that happened was I lost the curl only because I don't have that naturally.

Because i have long lashes i already used to wipe the mascara on a tissue to avoid spider lashes! And wayne uses these tips too! Love hos videos!!
thanks for the tip about the powder! thats a new one. i have almost always used drugstore mascaras but even waterproof ones aren't great for preventing smudging. the giorgio armani eyes to kill waterproof mascara (in silver tube), however, resisted smudging for me this entire summer though which was impressive.
while it's still wet, use some black eye shadow to set it, just like when you set foundation with powder

I spray hairspray onto a eyebrow comb and then comb through my lashes, it removes any clumps and stops the mascara from smudging
the l'oreal voluminous million lashes waterproof is amazing for legnthening and volumizing and doesn't smear or smudge!

I've been using a mascara comb as you've suggested previously. It's an awesome tip and I'm not wasting much product.
You should try switching to gel liner - much darker and doesn't move all day, even if you sleep with it on, stays put! Otherwise try going over your eye pencil with eyeshadow as that is meant to keep it in place x

My all-time favorite mascara is Mally Roncal's waterproof volumizing mascara - I get it on QVC.
i ♥ Estee Lauder zero smudge lengthening because i was sick of having panda eyes during the day! It worked great! :)
liquid or pencil liner? for pencil, get a waterproof one. and after you apply it, apply eyeshadow of the same color to set it.
The tips of my eyelashes are blonde (rest are dark brown) so I kind of have to apply mascara there.

I have been using a Anastasia Lash Genius mascara top coat. It works. Most mascaras even waterproof make me look like a racoon. But using this ' stays on all day! I had lancome sample and a Estee Lauder mascara and they still smudged . But Everything else. . Looks great all day.
I also use cornstarch on my eyelashes before applying my mascara and it works very well
Hi Goss. Thanks for all your great videos. I find that my eye cream makes my mascara run. I couldn't figure out why my waterproof mascara started running when in the past it was very good till I tried wearing it without applying eye cream first. It made a lot of difference. So that could be the root of some people's smudging problems.
i looooove mabelline mascaras.. Falsies original is beautiful and the plush original is great for thickening and curling.. the waterproof versions don't have the same effect of curl and volume but they are still good mascaras in general for no smudge and they usually never clump when i do my mascara for the original or the waterproof formulas

I have blepharitis, a medical condition that gives me incredibly oily lids. After years of experimenting, I've settled for 2 holy grail products : Helena Rubinstein sexy lash waterproof mascara and Majorca majorlica lash expander (this one is literally bulletproof). I've had my fair share of being raccoon end eye at the end of the night. I also have hooded eyelids which worsen the problem. I recommend UD primer potion with mufe aqua liquid eyeliner to stop liner smudging. @sopchan , HTH!
My fave mascara is Chanel Inimitable. But my fave waterproof is Estee Lauder Doublewear Waterproof -- I'm not usually and EL fan but got this as a sample and keep repurchasing it - it does not move, even from bottom lashes.
maybelline's one by one mascara is a staple of mine. never smudges. goes on soooooo smoothly. love your videos by the way.
No matter whether I use waterproof or not my mascara always smudges.... I decided that maybe the best way of tackling this was to go a high-end brand..
I went through all sorts and found nothing had changed much until I finally found the best mascara by far I have ever used.
My lashes are super long, not spidery, I have no smudging or flaking and it has a big fat brush which I love!

The only downside is I wish there was more product in a bigger tube.

go with a little bit of black eyeshadow on top of the (black) eyeliner, this will lock the liquid and prevent smudging :)
I find the waterproof mascara dilutes nicely with the natural oils in the eye area, and smudges beautifully like a wash of black water-color. I find that a NON-waterproof mascara doesn't dilute like waterproof, but it still smudges.

I use a little comb to curl my lashes and avoid the mess of to much mascara and smudging . A trick I learned from you:)
For those who have hooded and/or oily lids, try the Sensai/Kanebo 38ºC Mascara. It's water- and oilresistant. Works great for me. Never smudged since I used it.

When I prime my EYELIDS (not lashes) I tend not to have mascara problems. If I don't put a primer I will have mascara bleed down in minutes. So even if I just wear mascara and no eye shadow, I prime. That's my tip :-)

me too, however I'm keen to try a technique suggested above.......apply regular mascara, then clear mascara over the top - I guess the theory is that only the clear will smudge, and because it's clear there will be no visible residue. :D

I personally love the urban decay cannonball mascara, I've swam, cried, showered with it on and it hasn't budged.. Win!

i sometimes apply vaseline on my lashes berfore hand which can reduce smearing, althought, weridly, you can use vaseline to remove your eye makeup
your skin tone looks darker and so nice. how do you recommend getting a nice color like that without roasting in the sun? or getting wrinkles. i'd like to know, it makes your eyes pop. i'm about as fair as yourself
