    I notice you have one of the best animation books(besides The Animator's Survival Kit) Character Animation Crash Course by Eric Goldberg.

    Yeah, *Huion* has those thin LED light boxes that would be perfect for someone who wants to get started on the cheap. 👍

    I love this set up
    it is so sensible , your camera is seeing the things you are doing ,,.like reaching for items as you work people are nosey and love seeking out background items .(nosey)
    also ,,when they (viewer) magnify to full screen ,any reflections or small mistakes in your drawing stand out like a sore thumb , on a full viewed screen painting board ,,,, we need all the help we can get don't show em. PIKE

    What is the black disc with the rulers. I’ve been trying to find it everywhere and I can’t.

      Mine is a 12f Animation Disk: www.chromacolour.co.uk/black-plexiglas-animation-disc-12f.html
      This is what I had before and works just as well: www.cartoonsupplies.com/content/12f-student-pro-animation-disc-12-left

    Is there a portfolio you would recommend for carrying 10 1/2"x 12 1/2" animation paper? Is there (if any) a specific brand used in the industry?

    • @TonyGaddisToons
      @TonyGaddisToons  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh gosh. I'm not sure if there is an industry standard. I hate those huge portfolio bags. I've found that most laptop bags work well. This is the one I have: a.co/d/cwsQO3K It holds quite a bit of paper easily and also has lots of pockets for all my other art supplies. It also converts to a backpack, which is nice for travel. I got mine from Office Depot for like $65.

    Mr. Gaddis, I have a technical question regarding the setup of your animation table...Was the power switch for the backlight preinstalled in the upper right hand corner as it appears in your video, or did you install it yourself? I am looking to do the same with my table, for ergonomic reasons. Thank you.

    • @TonyGaddisToons
      @TonyGaddisToons  ปีที่แล้ว

      The light table I have now, yes, it was already installed when I got the desk. I did make a light table once, and sold it, but I had a friend that was an electrician install it. I would be happy to take more detailed pictures of my current setup and send them to you if you want. Just send me your email.

    what do you use the metronome for? you have a video on the subject?

    • @TonyGaddisToons
      @TonyGaddisToons  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi ArtMan. Sometimes I use it to help get the pacing of an animation. I talk about it, a bit, in my video "Six-legged Charater - Final Pencil Test Part 4 of 4" at around 0:58 Here's a link: th-cam.com/video/9NULlqYdEsg/w-d-xo.html

    what type of camera do you recommend to use? I got one of those cheap brand less 4k cameras will that do? I mean can't be any worst than the types of old cameras they use for making animation could be on par or slightly better and how do you frame the cels with it? like do you frame the whole paper and crop it out later or do you crop it within the cameras area?

    • @TonyGaddisToons
      @TonyGaddisToons  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, that should do just fine. I just use an HD webcam. You'll also want good lights, like led with daylight bulbs. I get as close to frame as I can with the camera and crop out the rest later.

      @@TonyGaddisToons but is the quality as good as the pioneers had it! like disney or even flix the cat? I just want to come out as good quality as like tmnt, BAS, and late 80s and 90s cartoon. will a regular HD camera produce it like that? I mean seems like they would all be better than those cameras they had even from there best quality ones.

    • @TonyGaddisToons
      @TonyGaddisToons  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As long as you have a camera that shoots in HD, then yes, the quality will be better. Keep in mind it's just meant to shoot a rough, pencil test and then cleaned up and colored digitally. In the old days they cleaned it up by inking and coloring on celluloid sheets. Even if you did that, any HD camera will be high quality to look amazing.

      @@TonyGaddisToons That sounds good to me because my first serious animation should be in the traditional sense therefore using cell sheets to create my first Traditional animation ever! I've already got the multiPlane With like four glass Panes, I got the camera I got some cell sheets I got the lights and I think I got everything I need to get started after I organize the studio.

    Where did you buy that hole punch that punches Acme?

    • @TonyGaddisToons
      @TonyGaddisToons  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a regular three hole punch. I modified my disk to work with the standard three hole punch system. Also, I just buy pre-punched paper.
