    The last OP gets 0/5 from me. I was bullied in school and I tried everything to get him to leave me alone. He would thump my ear, steal my comics, and one time even threw my bookbag out of the bus window. The only way I got him to stop was by taking and throwing HIS bag out of the window. Return-fire is all you have, and this girl took a LOT of abuse before firing back. She's justified in my opinion.

      @rachaelautera5150 4 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      I agree. I was bullied a lot too, and the girl who lived down the street from me was the worst. She would get the rest of the neighborhood kids to gang up on me too, even kids who I never met. They would even throw snowballs at me if I left the house during the wintertime. I couldn’t even go outside without being harassed. We tried everything to get the harassment to stop, going as far as calling the police, but nothing worked. Then one day we were waiting for school to start when she got 15 other kids to start chanting “losers” at me and the two friends I still had. I finally snapped and punched her in the nose. Her family called the school to try to get me into trouble, but of course they didn’t do anything. After that, she and the other kids finally left me alone. The only way to stop it was to return fire and getting violent but it worked, and she still hasn’t forgotten about the time I punched her.

      In dutch we have a saying that goes 'if someone doesn't want to HEAR, they have to FEEL' which means if you've told someone politely to get off your back but they don't wanna listen, they'll have to deal w the consequences.
      I was bullied a lot as well & the one time my main bullies actually left me alone was when I shouted 'I AM NOT YOUR PET OR YOUR PROPERTY. STOP COMMANDING ME & BOMBARDING ME W QUESTIONS. I OWE YOU NOTHING'.
      Since I was usually someone who didn't speak A WORD with anyone but teachers, everyone was gobsmacked but at least they shut up.

      as for what she went through I think 'Amy' (i know it isn't her real name) needs to see psychologist about the emotional abuse (I would make "Helen" pay for it, if she is really sorry then she will do it). It's better to have 'Amy' talk with a qualified professional, I have a relative who works with young people and 'Amy' might need professional help

    • @cypherglitch
      @cypherglitch 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      unfortunately when spiteful parents ge the ear of their child they can manipulate the child to think their husband or wife is a crazy violent person, because people think kids cant make this type of shit up, but sayin that only a hardarse person would not even think that there is some type of truth to what they say straight away.
      There have even been cases documented where women who were meant to care for and test children to see if they have been violated, to twist and manipulate the childs thought process, just so they look good by their piers because they clamed the child was abused by the father just after they saw how the child behaved without talking to them.

      That parent sounds so much like mine, my mum screamed at 11 or 12 year old me for not saying anything when my older sister screamed slurs and abuse so loud they could hear from the house. They justified it by saying I was manipulative by staying quiet so the neighbours (too far away to hear) would think my sister was this awful person and I was a sweet angel. This is why I’m planning on moving out age 16 lol

    If your parents use your income, more than the disposable part to buy unnecessary things and milk your work and money without consent, they should go to jail. Also that's not borrowing money from your child. There's an elaborate word, IDENTITY THEFT.

    • @emilychb6621
      @emilychb6621 4 ปีที่แล้ว +64

      Yea it's a felony for a reason.
      If your parents attacked you and broke your arm you'd also go to the police or CPS.

      Something similar happened to me, minus the casual racism. It was my first choir competition and we had two choirs in school, the all girls choir and the mixed choir. I was in the girls choir and one of my best friends in there was a girl on the chubby side but she was far from fat. She was also battling an eating disorder and had came a long way even though she was heavily bullied for her weight and I was so proud of her. She and I were getting dressed and this was after school hours but she forgot something in the choir room. She had on a sports bra and a pair of leggings and she ran into the choir room like that, grantide she was showing maybe an inch of her stomach and her arms, it wasn't like she was walking around buck naked. But the moment she went inside the choir room all hell broke loose as some of the snobby mixed choir girls shrieked like my friend murdered somebody and began to berate her for "walking around half naked at school when she's so over weight" and "did she think the boys would like looking at a pig like that?" She started to cry and she ran to the bathroom. I looked at the main girl full of fury and yelled that she was straight up mean and the worst person I ever met before running off to comfort my friend. She was making herself throw up when I got back the the bathroom and crying really hard. I just remember holding her and shaking with so much rage as she cried her heart out. I eventually went to go grab her stuff for her out of the choir room and on the way back the girl I yelled out was balling her eyes out and her friends started telling me how terrible I was for yelling at her. I told them they were terrible for yelling at my friend and making her throw up. They said it's what she got for looking like a fat whore. I told them that what I said to her wasn't even that bad and what they said to my friend was way worse and I told the girl if she really wanted to cry I could drag her ass behind the school and they backed off. My friend was so upset she decided to miss our first competition and went home. They never got in trouble and thankfully neither did I but that girl and her crew avoided me and my friend like the plague after that.

      I have to say in the last one I agree. I wish I had done the same as a child when I was bullied but my parents would... day after day after day drive in to me that I could not retaliate to bullies or stoop to their level. I tried to one time, ONE TIME. My parents heard and punished me for it and I was from an age where spanking was a punishment. "They would stop if I ignored it." I was constantly told this and it never stopped but I couldn't tell my parents that. They never had my back against bullies and I grew up socially alone. Now as an adult I find myself afraid to even meet people on most days, what if they hate me? What if the are mean about aspects of my life? I suffer so much social anxiety I can't even talk to people at length out of fear they will make fun of me or reject me out of something they hear about my life that they don't like. I would not wish this sort of mental state on anyone.
      STAND UP TO YOUR BULLIES. Even if the system isn't standing with you, if I could go back and do it again I would have let myself be punished if it meant the bullying would stop.

      @@azumarill5325 I've been bullied before. So I can speak from experience, although mine will differ from everyone else's.
      When I was bullied, I told the teacher everytime. Unlike OP, my school took actions. However, that dose not mean the bullying didnt affect me years down the line. (It takes time for events to sink in for me and actually affect me.) For awhile I believed I was worthless because of my past, those bullies were proof I was undeserving of friends and finding out the friends I had from irl school and such had been gossiping about me did not help. It only made me fall deeper.
      But... I got back up. I learned something valuable from it. Bullies only bully others because they are self conscious of themselves, and their "bullying" sometimes dosent even seem that way in their minds. In their minds, it's normal and that is how they make friends.
      Which is why, I still agree with r/slash ruling of YTA to OP. Stooping down to someone's level is never the answer. You have to hold yourself to a standard of not doing that, but also not tolerating behavior like that from your friends.
      What I think OP should have done is at least try to get the school involved, and if they end up not caring, then change the situation around. How? By confronting the bully with words that will not hurt her, offend her, nor accuse her and only explain that the comments being said to you are not appreciated and youd like it to stop. This assertive confrontation has a high chance of getting her to stop, but to still approach you in a different way. People can respect someone who stood up to them, someone who has confidence that they themselves lack, and will naturally realize you did not use any words to harm them but only told them to stop saying such hurtful comments and theyll actually consider doing so because you yourself did not use any. This can form the start of a friendship instead. And there you have it, situation changed to something nicer.
      I am aware this may not be realistic, but I truly believe if we learn to befriend our enemies instead of hating them, it would be better for everyone involved. And if not befriend them, then go separate ways in mutual agreement.
      Thanks for reading.

I honestly don’t think many older teachers even see and/or don’t care (it varies). It’s very generational but they need to be willing to learn (and some of their generation just refuse to learn. We try to teach them...and they just don’t/won’t seem to understand). It’s really frustrating. Especially ehen tbey are still the administrators (and refuse to retire). What is more disturbing to me about the last story is that the school blew off bullying and blatant racism.
    As somebody who was relentlessly bullied in her early schooling years up to middle school (in the 90s and early 2000s), that has been something I've had to face for a long time. It always breaks my heart when I hear that a bullying victim is swept under the rug by the very people who should be there to make the school a safe place to learn. I can't help but wonder if, like every other case where a school would do that, the parents of the bully were friends with a superintendent or something like that. Even if you're poor, you could have friends in high places and have stuff like this swept under the rug. It's actually disgusting that this kind of thing is still happening in schools in 2020/2021.

    Honestly, people who tell people who are bullied to "ignore them" and to "not stoop to their level" are usually the people who've never actually experienced bullying. Bullies pick on the quiet and those they perceive as 'weak', so not reacting is just validating that they think you're easy pickings. 99/100 bullies stop when their target fights back, because they're not the weak prey the bully wants, they're like sharks, they're scavengers and bottom feeders, they want to pick on the weak and helpless and the best way to get rid of one is a solid punch to the face, either physically or verbally.
    If the people in positions of authority don't step in to stop it (which they won't because they don't want to be held liable for what's going on between the kids, they'd rather plead ignorance to cover their asses), it's up to the bullied to show they're not the weakling or as easy pickings that the bully thought.

    I'm really glad that in the story with aunt Helen the mother realised her mistake and cleared things up with her daughter after reading the comments she got. A lot of parents won't accept any kind of criticism about their parenting and it shows that she is willing to learn. It's sad that she couldn't believe her child in the first hand but at least she'll be more likely to understand her in the future.

SUPER FUN to find out about when you get your first place and can't get your electric turned on! Good thing I had a roommate... I found out it was them because it was an old address that we lived at... Mom claimed she never put an electric bill in my name just cable bills! She was spot on! Sometimes you have to hit a bully in the face. Example: my daughter was being bullied by her younger half brother. I said to my daughter "it sounds as though YHB is going to end up a criminal like his father." After my weekend visitation he resumed his bully/entitled tactics. My daughter said to him "you keep this up and you are going to end up a criminal like your father!" He cried and left her alone from then on. Fortunately my ex defended her statement to the boy's father. But my ex was PO'd at me. Didn't care still don't.

    I actually had a friend who’s mother opened a credit card under her name- my friends mom had a really bad credit and had a history of not paying back her cards on time. The card my friends mother opened under her name was without my friends permission. She had called to confront her mother which the mother mother said “oh it’s ok. I’m your mom.” When my friend confided this in me (we were in collage, both of us 19 at the time) I told her that that was illegal to open a card under someone else’s name AND that her mom could fuck up her credit and that could cause irreversible damage. She asked me if she should call her husband (he was deployed in South Korea at the time and would return in a few months) to see if he should help her resolve it. I said yes, because he likely had more knowledge on what to do. Over that week she talked with her husband and his family, in which they agreed to help get in contact with police and her bank to shut the card down. Luckily her husband’s family were very nice to her and loved her. She said at the end of the week that if she took it to court her mom could be charge with fraud- that of course was true and it was exactly what her mom had done. She told me she felt like a total asshole for possibly getting her mom sent to jail.
    It’s worth mentioning I knew her father was in and out of jail, and in general her mom sounded very entitled and abusive... that my friend seemed more like a punching bag to her own mother.
    I let her know that she was absolutely NOT the butthole in this situation and that her mom, as an adult, made this choice on her own and the mother was the butthole for trying to use her own daughters credit at her expense.
    I haven’t spoken to her in over a year (life happens, and when her husband moved back to America they moved states) but last I heard she did take her mother to court and won.
    Not sure the ending or if her mom served any time, but my friend did dodge a bullet. I sincerely hope her and her husband are doing well and that they’re living happily now.

    For the last one: being mean in response to a bully is literally a non-issue. Not only was the girl a bully, not only were the adults with power doing absolutely nothing, but the girl was a bigoted POS.
    Like OP said, she can't control that she's Asian. And being Asian is nothing to be made fun of to begin with anyway. So, OP is NOT the a-hole, and just because OP hurt the bully's feelings doesn't automatically make the bully the victim. Like you literally said in this exact video, actions have consequences and enacting those consequences does not make you the a-hole.
