    I want one in the worst way. Roland has been listening to drummers input. The spd-sx pro has all of the missing features Alesis strike multipad users were asking for and unfortunately Alesis gave up and stopped supporting their hardware. I’m super excited Roland brought back the sequencer!!!!!!! I have been trying to find used spd-s so I could have that feature

      Howdy, Does the sound cut out when you switch programs?

    • @GSA_Drums
      @GSA_Drums ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bungeechord1 No.. The sample continues whilst going into the next preset. You can also chain link them so when you hit once, it triggers multiple samples in that bank. Pretty cool stuff but it takes a while to program
      At the beginning because it’s so powerful. 👍🏻

      I heard that sounds can cut out, but its the effects setting and can be avoided. Thanks for your reply!

    I was shocked that the Nord 3P didn't have hi-hat pedal input. It's like no drummers worked on the design of it. Otherwise it seems buyable by me but for this fatal flaw.

    Great work!
    I really like the way you made this review. I got my unit about a week ago and I'm having a major issue that I want to share for everyone interested in this product. It would be much appreciated if someone could help me out but if not, there is something you should be aware of before purchasing this product.
    I tried to split my four stereo triggers to eight mono triggers as promised but I couldn't figure out what type of splitter cable would work. Regular (1x stereo to 2x mono) Y-cable is useless (tried it) so I contacted Roland customer support and they gave me this corporate ass answer:
    "You can use the PDX series pads as trigger inputs on the SPD-SX Pro but we do not support any Y-splitter solution, so using this is strickly on your own risk and any damages caused by this will not be covered by the warranty. Have a nice day."
    Really? So basically they are saying that you can use third party splitter cables to make it (maybe) work with 8 external triggers but they don't provide any splitter solution for their customers nor will they take any responsibility about their product working as promised. This is a big deal for me because 8 external trigger option was one of the main selling points for me.
    If someone knows what kind of splitter cable will do the job please let me know. Some (or all) Roland modules require a Y-splitter with built-in resistor bridge (unlike regular Y-cables) to make it work when splitting triggers but there was no info about this in the SPD-SX Pro manual. Roland customer support ignored my question when I asked about the specific splitter cable requirements and to be honest, I'm pretty pissed.
    I really thought that Roland of all e-drum manufacturers would be trustworthy but it seems like they are lying or at least misleading people in their advertising when it comes to this. I'm really disappointed but I hope someone here would know the answer because I want to believe there is some way to make it work as promised.
    Other than that SPD-SX Pro is a killer product and I've had no other problems with it whatsoever. If you don't need 8 external triggers like I do don't hesitate to buy one. If you do, hope that hybrid drummer or some other tech guru solves this problem for us.
    Fingers crossed!
    6/5 review from hybrid drummer
    0/5 customer support from Roland

      Hi! Sorry to hear that. I haven’t tried splitting the inputs yet, but I will do and let you know if I could figure it out.

      Have you tried it with a cable of one male stereo jack and two female jacks on the other end?

    • @janhuhtanen8426
      @janhuhtanen8426 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't try that. I got it working with stereo insert cable instead, so problem solved! It even allows both splitted triggers to be played simultaneously, so it's really usable for many purposes. So far no problems, but if something breaks I'll let you know. Thanks anyway and have a blast🔥

    • @anonymous_friend
      @anonymous_friend ปีที่แล้ว +1

      your splitters were probably not splitting to TS but TRS if an insert cable worked and those did not.

    Hi Máté, great review! Do you know if the pads can be velocity layered? For example, velocity 1-100 is note x (e.g. an open snare hit) and 101-127 is note y (e.g. a snare rim shot) (the Yamaha DTX Multi12 has this feature). Also, how many steps is the hi-hat ‘openness’? (the DTX Multi12 only has 3: closed, half open and fully open).

    • @TheHybridDrummer
      @TheHybridDrummer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! You can layer 2 sounds on a pad and change between them by velocity, yes. I don’t know exactly how many steps are for the high hat but it sounds pretty good. You can also use a pedal and even do high hat splashes

    The Spd-sx module had a major “issue” related with its polyphony. Since it has only 16 voices available, if you wanted to use it to trigger back tracks or cues/click, you needed to check the polyphony of each pad, because you can end getting your back track suppressed. The module works in a sort of "FIFO" mode, when the max polyphony was reached, for example, during a 32th roll, the module cuts the first sound, and so on, that means, no more backtrack/cue. That ruined some live performances until I understood what was happening. The solution was to put everything on monophonic mode, and of course getting the unpleasant "machine-gun" sound like rolls. Do you know if that is fixed somehow for this one? Maybe setting some priority for the pads? Thank you! Best regards!

    • @TheHybridDrummer
      @TheHybridDrummer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, many of us had that issue sometimes. I guess this was an important thing for the developers, as the PRO's polyphony is 32 voices now, so hopefully this will never occur again. :)

      It’s a feature that lot of people are missing but there are a lot of extra options you can do with it. I think the Roland engineers thought that pro users will export their loops in the tempo they need them so there’s no need for tempo stretch.
