I wanted Rhaenyra to channel Cersei when Ulf was acting the fool at the dinner table. “Seize him!” He’s gotten too beside himself and let the dragon inflate his ego. It’s too be expected but damn Addam and Hugh took the change in stride with respect
Probably the only person on here I’ll sit through the ads for. When I have no friends who watch the show you’re the #1 thing I look forward to as soon as I’ve watched the episode
I felt like this was more of a penultimate episode than a finale. I feel like those 2 episodes that we didn’t get would have really helped. I still really enjoyed it though. I can’t believe we have to wait for 2 more years for this next battle. Loving the videos xx
In the final shot between the two women, I saw it very much as Rhaenyra is surrounded by the weight of her history and duties where Alicent is free to the open world.
I think the main reason she chose Adam over Jace or the other riders is, seasmoke is larger than jaces with battle experience, that would be needed if daemon was going to usurp her, and if Vhagar attacked. Hugh and Ulf dragons are larger, but I don’t think she trusts them enough not to tuck tail and run or flip sides. Adam bent the knee and swore allegiance to Rhanerya, has acted respectable at all times, and I think she has a feeling that he is Corlys bastard
Thank you for all the ASOIAF content you do. The way you analyse these episodes is so good, its our like my English teacher but its HOTD instead of Macbeth
When he said Aegon The Builder all I thought about was Bob the Builder? Lol that part was so unserious 😂. Also I appreciate your time and commitment to making this amazing content and I hope to continue to see more! Your voice is so soothing and your explanations just make sense and I will continue to love every bit of it! ❤
Despite having some flaws, this season of HOTD was still great overall. One of the biggest problems with the later seasons of GOT is that they tried to pack it with arcs and battles which didn’t make sense because they weren’t written well and given enough time to develop. S3 of HOTD is gonna have a lot of action/battles and S2 was perfect at developing the characters and moving the pieces into position necessary for the payoff next season. I think this season also holds up on its own due to the incredible dialogue, acting and moments like Rooks rest and the red sowing. People will try their hardest to not enjoy things anymore and it’s just sad.
Thank you very much for another great review! I appreciate your holistic viewpoint and willingness to provide quality content! One of the GOAT’s for me when it comes to ASOIAF content
Hi! I have absolutely loved watching your recaps and TikToks about Season 2! Thank you so much for all this amazing content ❤❤❤ The finale left me with mixed feelings. It would have been perfect to get two more episodes this season, but we have what we have. It's interesting to think about future events and character arcs. At this point, the show has changed a lot compared to the book. I hope it won't become the same problem that we had when GoT ran out of book material and started making its own story. I was really disappointed by Rhaena's arc this season. It seemed like she abandoned Rhaenyra's kids and the mission she was given to get lost in the Vale. All that wandering in the wild was risky, even without the Sheepstealer. And I have no idea how she will be able to claim them in that mountains. It was highlighted that Aegon could not produce more heirs, which feels like a potential problem because, in the show canon, he has only Jaehaera as his legitimate child. That final scene between Alicent and Rhaenyra was so beautiful and emotional! However, I couldn't help but doubt the possibility of that dream of freedom becoming real for Alicent and Helaena given their circumstances. It will be definitely hard to wait two years for Season 3
I've looked it up for you. A naval vessel being renamed is considered bad luck, due to deep-rooted superstitions among sailors. And it's believed to anger the sea gods and bring misfortune to the vessel. This might foreshadow on what the outcome will be for the Battle of the Gullet. Helaena is the only Green I like. What Alfred said to Daemon at Harrenhal and then Alfred running away when Rhaenyra arrived showed how much of turncloak/traitor he is.
I agree 100% I did enjoy the episode, however it was not a finale type of episode for me.. I do miss 10 episode seasons and am not loving the 2 year waits but oh well😂. My favourite scene was Daemons visions when he touches the weirwood tree. I loved how it tied his experience at Harrenhall up and I loved that he seen Daenerys and her dragons! I’m excited for your future content, you’re killing it!!
When he said the Realms Delight, it just made me sad. He just wants people to love him and I think he’s starting to realize that might never happen. And Ulf? Augh 😂 I think he was just expecting to be welcomed like long lost family 🤦🏻♀️😂 but I loved seeing the behind the scenes for the dinner with the dragonseeds . Everyone was laughing about how many birds he ate 😂
I understand why Alicent wants what she does, but it feels messed up to have put everything in place and then just run off when shes not getting what she wants.
Yay! I've been looking forward to your review ever since I finished watching the episode. I just love your insights and watch all your content on TikTok and here! Lots of love from Germany!
Thank you for bringing such detailed and informed content this season. Theses recaps/review/breakdowns have been great, and just have really enhanced my enjoyment of HOD. I agree - I would certainly give this season a 9+. I loved the character development before it all kicks off next season. And I also agree that this did not necessarily feel like a season finale. The only thing I can compare it to is the S3 finale of ST: The Next Generation (Best of Both Worlds part 1). That episode left you hanging and wanting and waiting for the war that you knew was coming with the Borg. (I hope it is OK that I referenced a different franchise!)
I love your explanations and dissections of the episodes with in-depth explanations! Thank you! I would also like to ask about your thoughts on all the hate this season got from the fandom? I personally loved this season but I do think they could’ve ended the season with closure however now I’m even more excited for season 3!!
For me it very much felt like it was meant to be a 10 episode season with the either kings landing or the gullet being episode 9 and 10. I think they did that because of how popular some of the cast are and wanting to keep them for at least the start of season 3 so they can use them for the press tours etc
@@gameofthroneshistorian Interesting 🧐 I definitely feel like it needed 10 episodes but I guess we will have to wait till they’ve told the story they wanna tell first
After rewatching the episode again, I have a thought that the creators gave book Halaena's to Alicent in this particular scene. As we know, Halaena is asked to choose one of her sons (M&J) by B&C. She chose M but they end up unaliv**g J, leaving M alive. We get a particular line in the books from B&C: "You hear that boy, you mummy wants you ☠️". The rest is history, literally. This ENTIRE season we have Aegon seeking out his mother for her company, her counsel, her comfort, etc. In this moment, Rhaenyra had the same "role" per say as B&C having Alicent choose. Aegon, the one who WANTS her love, is "chosen" to be unaliv*d by his mother. Did Alicent really have much of a choice? No, but the parallels are PARALLELING. I think next season we are going to see Aegon find out that his mother agreed to this, & that is what is going to set his wrath in motion & Alicent will become his prisoner. Just a theory, & my wheels are turning, if you stayed to the very end thank you. 😂
I know there is ppl burning this episode but for me??? it was a journey and seeing Danny? i cry like a baby and had to pause the episode because dudeeeee

I loved this episode, and I'll never understand the hate this season is getting. It's like people have completely forgotten that character development and story are more important than blood, nudity and war. Season 3 is going to be great and most of that will be thanks to the set up and development in this season. The Cast is doing a great job and the soundtrack is lovely. I'll be curious to see the changes they make with Sheep Stealer's story. I've loved the changes they did with Helaena by making her a dreamer. I hope we still get little pink Morning.
What an episode!!! Wishing there were 2-4 more haha, but we get what we get and we're glad for it 🤷♀️ The first season was really rushed since they were cramming 20 years of backstory and character development into 10 episodes, so I actually really enjoyed the pacing of this season. And I'm not sure how she did it, but Emma's portrayal of Rhaenyra some how made me gayer 😂 *lykirī* Seeing Daemon's vision and our girl Daenerys gave me goosebumps! So glad Ryan is putting the magic back into Westeros where Dave and Dan took it out. But then about 2 seconds later my rage for season 8 and what they did to our girl really rejuvenated itself. Haha I think it may have triggered a lot of people lol. All in all, loved this season, 8.5/10. The only real critique I can give it is 8 episodes is not enough. The world of ASOIAF is convoluted and rich in lore and history, to do it properly HBO needs to commit to 12 episodes a season. A real proper season. Love your videos, love you, thanks so much, you're amazing ❤
I also want to reiterate my hope that we WILL see Nettles. Before you call me delulu hear me out haha. Spoilers ahead for anyone who has not read F&B I'm hoping the path that they are taking Rhaena on is for us to be actually excited for her when she finally gets Morning. However, instead we see Nettles to be the one to claim Sheepstealer, Rhaena and the audience is crushed and heartbroken. She got so close and came up short. I think it's that heart break and moment of feeling all hope is lost that will make Rhaena getting Morning even more special. Rhaena, who wanted a dragon more then anything, and went through great lengths for it, almost costing her life...twice it seems... becoming the realms last dragon rider. ❤❤❤❤ Gives me goosebumps. I think when Alicent says "come with me" it's a reminder of what she wanted to do before her mother died. She wanted to travel the world with Alicent as a girl and be free with her. It's just the wrong place and time for them both.

Season 1, Corlys says “History remembers names not blood.” The ONLY reason he is acknowledging them now is because Rhaenys told him to make it right.
