I’m sure you already know that ‘like’ as a verb means to enjoy/love.
But did you know that there are 5 other ways that you can use LIKE in English - and they are especially common in informal, spoken English! LIKE can also be an adjective, an adverb, a filler word, a linking word and even, to quote what someone says, does or feels! “Like” is a great tool to help English students to sound natural when they speak English!

*Well, hey there, dear Teacher Emma! What a huge pleasure to meet you today here with the new fabulous lesson*
*I remember this kind of lesson, you came out something similar at roughly for about a year ago, right? It named* *"how to use Like" too, yeah?! I even dicided to rewatch that previous lesson once again to brush up on my* *knowledge! Thank you a lot for everything! All of your efforts 'n' knowledge you share are being appreciated so* *much!👍👍👌👌🙏🙏*
Watching your lessons Emma learn English is like easy.
Hi Emma, like always - a great lesson. I lived 4 years in California and in my job I am exposed to many „native“ speakers around the globe. I learned that some words or phrases are common language in some parts of the world, while being offensive or misleading in other parts (mostly the UK). In those kind of lessons could you please mention countries or regions where words are common and can be used and where to avoid them. PS: I am German. Exposed to US, RAS, UK, NZ, and Australien English.
This is by far one of the most useful videos I have ever seen in recent times. Keep up posting good stuff!
Thanks, will do!
Hi!emma , I am currently watching your conditional sentences Playlist and also making notes .

Thank you, happy you find them useful ❤
Hi Emma tank you for all you do in the class, I’m very happy!
It's like, when listening to you, everything feels like more clear, like I can finally be like those native speakers who like to use "like" whenever they are at a loss for words, which for me is like all the time when I'm trying to have like a meaningful conversation in English. I think I overplayed it, but I'm thinking teenagers trying to describe something and their love for "like" in every sentence. Love your videos BTW :)
😂 you did overplay it, but you overplayed it perfectly!
I feel like your are best teacher in TH-cam. Thanks for consistency and commitment publishing such great material for people around the world.

I am very pleased to meet you.
When I was a new immigrant, I was like an idiot who had huge problems in understanding fast Canadian English but after six months I was like a different person who felt comfortable watching the news without subtitles. Thank you Emma for this interesting lesson!
It’s frustrating to not understand or to feel stuck - but you were never an idiot Tammy, just restricted by the ways you could express yourself.
Since we are talking about ‘like’ it would be better (and kinder to yourself) to say “I felt like an idiot” rather than “I was an idiot”
@@mmmEnglish_Emma Thank you Emma for your feedback. This morning I feel like having an Earl Grey with honey again.
Hi teacher, I love you and I aspire to become the best English teacher like you🎉

I have been watching ur video, and they help so much. Thanks so much.
So happy to hear that! Thank you for your ongoing support 🤩
Your movement and expressions are so cute 🥹💖
Ma'am could you please make part 2 of the Passive voice??
The use of LIKE here at 0:48 is really as an adjective? I have my doubts. Great lesson. Regards.
Dear Madam Teacher Emma, thank you so incredibly much for next lesson and your effort! For example -I like watching English movies(films) and I try to improve my English (unfortunately,I am not smart). Last week I was watching brilliant movie(my humble opinion) by director Christopher Nolan : Oppenheimer(based on true story,Oppenheimer is called Father of nuclear weapons). I would like to recommend this movie ( if you do not mind). Thanks a lot again and have a nice day.
I haven’t seen it yet, but I have been meaning to!! Thanks for the recommendation!
“I loved this lesson” ❤
Lately I had to write an exam in english and it wasn’t really difficult but my mind was like “No, not today!” I couldn’t think of the most simple words in that moment.
One question: Does “likely” exist?
Likely exists!
You are a good teacher. where are you from? You are good at explaining.
I'm from Australia 🇦🇺
