      @@vancef5060 Are you really mad a business saw this contract proposal and said... cool, if that's what you want... done! Ricky Williams doesn't understand money (coming from the projects as they say repeatedly in the video) is PAYING his agents to get him an incentive based contract with a nice chunk up front. That's all he's asking for. So looking at the 1999 draft we see signing bonuses of 1st overall Couch: $12.5 million, 2nd McNabb: $11.3, 3rd Smith: $10.8 million, 4th E. James $9.5 million... and Ricky gets $8.8 with him needing to beat All-time bests to trigger escalators? He didn't get any more money up front than he would of if he signed a typical contract and would of made MORE MONEY OVERALL signing a normal contract. Are you part of No Limit Sports? lol

    In total Ricky Williams earned $25M after playing for 10 seasons in the NFL. Might seem like a lot but for comparison sake, Edgerrin James was drafted one spot before in 1999 and earned $68M in 11 seasons. This contract really screwed Ricky Williams up, during seasons 2 and 3 he only earned about $400k/year while Edgerrin James was bringing in $5M a year

    • @RichV20
      @RichV20 ปีที่แล้ว

      The season he was suspended, he paid to pay the Dolphins back like $8million of his bonus.

  • @AD-df5tm
    @AD-df5tm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +74

    The idea that they did this contract so Rickey could have a higher bonus and get more money up front is BS. He would have got that signing bonus regardless. Edgerrin James was drafted one spot above Rickey. He got a $9.5 million bonus AND signed a better contract than rickey. James wound up making over $40 million off his rookie deal. 3x more than Rickey did.
    Don't believe them trying to tell you it was about getting Rickey more money up front. It wasn't. They actually got LESS up front than James did even though Rickey was the much more accomplished player/prospect.

    • @tn15_

      "Master P meant well". Like Thomas Sowell said, it's a terrible idea to let someone make decisions who will pay no price if it fails. Master P is a zillionaire so the money he personally lost was pocket change. You don't bet someone else's livelihood. I say he didn't mean well because in these clips he expressed zero remorse that others lost out. He's like "Well, I'm a hustler and sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Oh well". Oh well with your own livelihood, not someone else's.

      Same here I was born in 82 and I am from the South so I followed Master p basically from the day he dropped that first hit song in the main stream my freshman year in 96. Besides not hearing about this I also learned not long ago he played in the NBA for the Toronto Raptors but just for a couple pre-season games and again I think the same deal for the Charlotte Hornets. Allegedly and say that because not sure if its true or not but there is a video on here about it about Master p playing against Michael Jordan in a pick up game and won something like that. I remember when he disappeared from the music industry just over night one day to never hear about what happened or why which struck me as bizarre considering he was hot back in the 90's pumping out more albums and different people on his label than anyone just killing it. Theres a video on here with the story being told by Chamellionaire and that is the best story ive ever heard in my life having to do with the music industry and then it fills in all the blanks why you never hear his name mentioned by industry or recognizing any of his accomplishments or invited to anything to with the music industry and that's crazy when he literally flipped the industry upside down and changed it forever more than anyone has ever done in many different ways such as artists actually making money from what they do, the way contracts are done now these days, the reason artists are able to make money and not be signed to any label and staying independent building up their hype/clout/fame until labels are basically throwing many millions at you to sign on with them and getting it to be a more favorable contract then just bending you over for the next 10 or more years and a few other as well. He is the most underrated icon in music history

He doesn't sound contrite AT ALL. He seems like all he cares about is what a hustler he is. That's really self centred. He had the money to do it right, but instead decided to wing it and it came at the expense of someone else and he doesn't seem to feel like that is the takeaway here. He just plays the race card with something that's objective. Contracts are objective. Performance metrics don't give a fuck what race you are.
