  • Demonstrating how one can expedite and van dwell with minimal sacrifice. Nearly 90% of this van build was done while on the road with the help of various Home Depot stores. And 100% of the wood was cut by Home Depot and it's employees for free! Hopefully you'll find the video informative and entertaining.

    Jonathon, being retired from the trucking industry after 38 years OTR [since 2015] I didn't want to skip over this video, even though my specialty was primarily flatbed, drop deck, and, heavy haul trailers. Folks not in our industry would have probably moved on. Pretty impressive how you arranged everything to accommodate your needs! I'm planning on buying a Promaster 3500 very soon for a complete camper van conversion to live full time on the road...NO boss, NO DOT, NO time schedule, NO weigh stations, etc...MY rules!! Congrats on your build and working a full time job at the same time! Best of luck to you in the future!

    Nicely done. Enjoyed that. The lack of heat I could deal with. The lack of A/C would do me in, I’m afraid. Has anyone ever told you that you sound exactly like a young John Amos?

    Super simple murphy bed. IAm not an expediter... usually watching van life videos, gathering ideas for myVan build. I clicked on a Ram Promaster van tour and now I have new content. 1500, 2500 and 3500 refer to the towing capacity of the Ram van... 136, 144, 159 wheelbases refer to van lengths. I have a 2017 Ram Promaster 2500, high roof, 159wb and a lot of building to get done. Thankhz for some great ideas. The bed and the headboard are smooth. Wholeness n Love Brother Jonathan ((-;

  • @GinaKayLandis
    @GinaKayLandis 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice video, and your build is certainly on its way! Love the flip down bed and flip up headboard!
    As to the 2500, I have been reading about differences between the 1500, 2500 and 3500 Promasters. Those numbers are for freight, not length. I was surprised! My Promaster high top is a 1500, 136" wheelbase. The 2500 and 3500 may be 144" wheelbase or longer (can't recall, so could be they start at 144" instead of 136"), but they also are built to carry heavier cargo.
    Great job on your build! Glad you are enjoying your travels and electronic goodies! Oh and there are tiny sinks that wouldn't stick out any further than the fridge, even installed in a 9" deep cabinet! Good luck with everything!

    I think you might have the 159" version there. The 2500 comes in that length and also a smaller version. I'm expediting in the shorter version, it's the company owner's van, and I sleep in a hammock. This was a great video with a lot of great ideas. My personal vehicle is a 159" 2500. I turned it into a camper van. Two Maxxair fans on the roof will give you so much cross ventilation in the summer that you will sleep comfortably, providing you have insulated your van. Thank you for sharing this with us. PS Could you do a video on how one sets themselves up in the business of expedited shipping? All I know is that there are brokers or people that you have to work with or something to find loads.

    Really digging the van set up the only thing is how come you didn’t accommodate no room for your bed to be out with still having some type of freight room.Is there any reason why, I’m thinking about getting a pro master 2500 for expediting is why I ask

    • @Thehandsomeliberal
      @Thehandsomeliberal  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, the accommodations were made, but not really covered in the video. The bed platform does not have a guard wall at the foot of the mattress. Therefore, you can slide it out of the frame and either lay it on the floor, around freight, or on top of freight. I have done this many, many times.
      Thanks for watching!

    How are you sleeping in there with freight on board?

  • @scottsturgeon618
    @scottsturgeon618 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You definitely have setting up a livable vehicle for expediting down to a science. I can see the subtle refinements from the Econoline to the Promaster. The only challenge I see is the inability to use the bed with a load strapped down. How do you address that?

    • @Thehandsomeliberal
      @Thehandsomeliberal  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The bed frame is designed so that the mattress can be slid out and laid on the floor when necessary. Not the most comfortable way to sleep, but it's doable.
      In many cases, I am able to move or slide freight and still use the bed as normal. Because my tracks are raised, I can slide skids up to 500 lbs!
      Unfortunately, there really is no van that will allow you to comfortably sleep with 3 skids in the vehicle

  • @henrygiovanni161

    *EXCELENT SET UP, (BEST I''ve seen so far), CONGRATS !!. just have a question: When U'r loaded, let say: with 2 or 3 pallets, how do U lay down the bed?, Thanks, U deserve LOTS of BLESSINGS.*

    • @Thehandsomeliberal
      @Thehandsomeliberal  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bed slides out from the frame. Sometimes you might have to place it on the floor or on top of freight. Most of times I drive loads direct, so I do not get to sleep with the freight in the vehicle anyhow.

    • @Thehandsomeliberal
      @Thehandsomeliberal  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Popular question. With 3 pallets of freight, sleeping comfortably WILL be difficult. In most cases, you're on the floor, renting a hotel, or pulling the mattress out of the frame and sleeping on top of the freight. Fortunately, 3 skid loads are fairly infrequent.

    I might have missed the explanation - but how do you sleep with the freight? What happens when you have a long haul requiring one or two breaks for sleep? Otherwise - very nice. Lots of great ideas!!

    • @Thehandsomeliberal
      @Thehandsomeliberal  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When necessary, sleeping with the freight can be done in a variety of ways. Some freight is low enough to actually fit under the bed on the floor around it. You can slide the bed out of the frame and put it on top of some freight. Sleeping on the floor is not as comfortable, but yet another option too. I have done them all.
