Criminy, I didn't realize he could actually sing at that octave. Figured it might've been edited, synthesized, something like that. Points to him for that.
I actually didn't think they were that bad... If we wanted to hear a performance that sounded exactly like the CD, we could've just played the CD. Live sound is something very different because you actually need people to play, and with this style of music its very hard to get every little sound and effect with just two keyboardists without using backing tracks. Plus, I think his singing technique is actually pretty good, and he can reach all the notes perfectly.
@@Benjomatic Drummer has several of the sounds on his beat pad. Very common thing for drummers to use. And the keyboardist on the left was doing the post chorus wiggle sounds. (lol didn't know what to call those.)
@@branmonte I am a drummer. I have an SPD-SX, so i'm aware of trigger pads. I was referring to the tracked voice and jangling bells that follows the verse.
I don't think this is their best song live, but come on, it's really high and that's a hard octave to sing in. Go listen to some of their other songs live. They're really good, seriously.
I’m honestly so surprised he sounded that good live. I think people making negative comments probably weren’t into the original song anyway. It’s an awesome song. 😄
Agreed, they just need to increase the volume of everything else other than his mic. I’m actually impressed and confused why people say he’s shit live.
The time of this performance is very close to the time I saw them live and Michael Angelako's was suffering from throat issues at the time. I personally love Passion Pit and I still really enjoyed this performance with or without perfect vocals (which did not even sound too bad).
I loved it. The falsetto is obviously at his upper limit, which is so tough to do, let alone do live while jumping around. His hair is extremely sexy, too. Bravo!
I've been seeing a lot of people hating so I felt like I should say something. I really liked hearing this song live, his voice had a certain quality of intimacy that the original recording lacked. To me it was a sort of cross between the original and the "Stripped Down" version off the 2010 version of Manners. I understand if it's not your cup of tea, but I enjoyed it :3
very bad rendition of the song. Studio version sounds much better. Kinda disappointed one of the first big displays of them to mainstream is in this way.
It isn't exactly like the video, it's different and I like it! Of course they have different notes, but I think it sounds nice, it goes well on how they changed with the instruments too.
Not sure if this gives me more respect for whoever mastered the original or makes me lose respect for whoever mixed this... not a bad performance, but god, I hope the live sound in the room was better bc this is a tough listen the way it's mixed here haha

MᴀᴅMᴏʀɴɪɴɢ singing high is not really a skill. Each person has a vocal range, you are either capable of hitting that high ( or low note) or not. What is a skill is the ability to hit your highest highs and lowest low, jump back and forth without cracking, and make your falsetto voice as strong as you regular voice.
Already did. I am Goodolson of Hibronation. I wish I had l4d2 but I can't afford it due to my game I am making. I am investing $500 into my game for a new tablet laptop.
I feel you man. My friend had tickets for the show at Portland as well, and he won't be getting Angelakos' autograph anytime soon. They had a mishap with their instruments. :(
Hey sorry it took me so long to reply xD but by the looks of it you have minecraft? (looked at ur picture) If you have any multiplayer games you would want to record with me, I am up for.
Sleepyhead seems like a really hard song to perform live
Definitely
it is indeed 🔥
That's the most lovely comment/insult i couldn't think of. :)
Lol
@@Lisa-Leipness 😅
These Letterman crowds don't get out much do they?
Lireoec they are mainly older people and I'm sure they have some kind of rule against moshing...
@@blisterpacman you don't need a rule to avoid moshing to this
Greatest song ever!
This is little big planet 2
It looks like he doesn't know what to do with his tongue.
justin smereczniak he has to do that with his tongue to sound like that.. I’d like to see you try to hit those notes
live ruins everything

He's singing in his head voice/falsetto that's why it's so high pitched.
YouDuck2345 could use a lil more reverb thi
it's falsetto mate, don't piss urself
Late to the party but the lead singer did not sound good to me. I made it to 2:15 and paused the video. Band and synth stuff sound cool though.

yea 😕😐
Pretty sure they're using tracks though.

And I agree, he has practiced his vocal technique a lot, you can tell by the way he prepares the shape of his mouth before EVERY phrase.

drummer really kills it in this verison
I thought it didn't fit the song at all.
...how the fuck are u gonna cover their songs? no wonder i love this band.
+nenandrearis alfaro challenge accepted *fails* dammit
I thought they sounded really good!
It’s the rawness that’s makes live music amazing
well actually, his voice has a unique ability.
Letterman fans = snore
Awful crowd but this still gave me goosebumps. I love this song always.
Live or studio both ways sound great ,I love this song!
You know what? I love you

yes
I dunno why people don't like this either. I loved this!!
Is no one gonna talk about how this was in the best game EVER LBP
I love all of the inflection he uses, amazing vocal talent!
They're amazing, even live!!
most bands dont sound that good live so hush
omg little big planet...
It's amazing how high his voice can go
They just need better equipment, bass, acoustics, etc
That mellow synth though
the people at live does not know that the song is actually lit

thank goodness i am not the only one
I like it too 😌👌🏼
sleepy heaaaddddddd heeeedddd heeeed
nicee, ive always said that this type of music in live is very hard to imitate like album version but they did it.
Begonia skies

Idk what it is but when he does those little parts where he sounds like hes whining, I FREAKIN LUV IT😂❤
Little big planet
What about it.
S0ns vevo This song is in the game
Schincarionka 10 oh
they are like Smash Mouth; they sound good on the records, but the mood just dosen't transfer to a live sound
Watch them on NPR's tiny desk concert - amazing version of this.
The acoustic is where its at.. True poetry..
original song:AWESOME Live: Bad At 01:15

this wasn't very good... they've had better live performances...
Lol
Do I have permission to use this song for a scholarship video I'm working on to prevent distracted driving?
You got accidentally ratioed
Tough crowd!!
So it's a skill to sing that high pitched? I always thought he was screaming

I should have been there☹️☹️☹️
All the 09 hipsters…twee..whatever it’s called…ugh a time really ❤
:( They canceled their show in Portland this weekend so I'm watching this as consolation while weeping.
I love this song. I feel like I could fly just listening to it.
love
This is a pretty terrible performance.
Could you do better ?
It's fire, y'all be crine for zero reason
That voice... 😕
It's a concert.

I'm still prefer the original ver better
It's bitter and darker vibe ...
this was dreadful, i havent seen a performance that bad since the elementary school "everyone's a winner" talent display
Is the singer having voice cracks?
WillTardis probably this is his singing voice
voice on crack’s
*Terrible*
“Mom can we get McDonald’s?”
McDonald’s: *the normal version of this song*
“No sweetie we have food at home.”
The food at home: *this video*
Yh, in fact Dr. Who is pretty much a microcosm of Britain ;)
Eh. Better with auto tune.
Yeah, I prefer the regular version of this song. This adaption just didn't work as well for me.

This is what I expected…
hahaha

Couldn't get into that one....was that a sound check?
HA this is so bad
NSTG
Different take on the song without all the effects on his voice. Still a talented one man band though.
he sounds a little higher pitched than in the other songs, and he changed pitches a bit, but still awesome!
They kill it !!!! 💯
R.I.P Falsetto (whatever year) - 2013 ;-;
It was bad only because it was live. 90% of singers don't sound as good as it seems. It's all performance and your style
I love this song but I'm sorry. But the lead singer sounds like Katy Perry Off Pitch
this is actually really good haha
They canceled their concert I was supposed to go to for this gig.
Well that was terrible
Great great song! But so distracting to see him singing it
There's a game called LittleBigPlanet ad they have this song as a musical son or something like that but it instrumental on the game
Here we can see Micheal playing around in the stage and trying to entertain a crowd that doesn't appreciate his music.
Not as powerful as the album version imo
this is kinda ehh
Is Doctor Who full of stereo types of do you guys actually call it tele?
That was a perfect performance what the fuck are u people taking about
The crowd look like dancing zombies, its kinda cool with this song.
uhh have you not heard the song...?! that's how he sings it.....
Did we just become different nation buddies? xD
this drummer sounds...bad, I preferred their other drumer
oh wait already replied -_-
What?! I was giving you a science lesson 0-0
