- My good friend Carl was the first person to inspire me to ride a unicycle and one of the coolest things he did was ride uphill - which I thought was impossible.
But it's not and you can, too.
Riding uphill and downhill on a unicycle is pretty rough but if you can adhere to three tips, you'll be able to master it in (hopefully) no time.

Another great tutorial. Of all the sports I've done, riding a unicycle up a long hill has got to be one of the most physically demanding exercises. Always like how you break things down so others can learn some tips. Thanks again.
Thank you! I agree. It's hard to ride up a steep hill on one wheel and I actually was humbled recently by some other individuals who really could get up steep skinnies with relatively low effort. I was taking notes :D
So good at explaining what you know. Really enjoyed watching this vid and was able to get my uphill & down knowledge organized! Thanks.
🙏🙏thank you! That really means a lot! I’m sure there are tips I missed so there’s tips other tips to use, too!
i attempted to ride on a ramp for the first time today (started unicycling 2 months ago) and was surprised how hard it was, thank you for the tips for my next attempt
Two months in and already riding inclines!? Hell yeah. That’s incredible
Very helpful, Dan - thank you!
I’m so glad. 🙏🙏🙏
Unicycle with handelbar is more difficult riding unicycle balance. Is that right?
I’ll be honest I’m actually not sure. I can imagine it would be since you don’t have use of your arms to help balance. So I’d agree with you on that
Wow I've never thought about jumping to get up hills, nice video!
I appreciate it@@Yike-ov7gz !
Yes, because it "handcuffs" you from using your upper body for balance compensation.
However, if you are an advanced rider you don't need that anymore. Balance is in the pedaling skill and slight upper body motions.
The advantage of using hands on the saddle is to "resist" the twisting action that is a result of either pedaling fast or generating power pumps.
I've just got myself a unicycle about a week ago. & battling to get started. any tricks. I may not be doing right ?
