as someone who’s learning how to do it, those melodic screams have to be the hardest technique in all of harsh vocals Update: I’ve since figured out how to somewhat imitate the way his pitch screams sound but I can’t actually replicate it exactly. I have no idea how the fuck he’s making the noises he’s making. He’s said in interviews that he’s essentially doing throat singing with gutterals, altering the overtone’s that are audible using mouth posture to essentially “filter” the white noise of a scream into a tunable pitch. No fucking idea how he does it
Saw them at a small venue here in San Diego. By far the most insane I've ever gone at a concert. All fueled by the insanity of Travis. Not only is he a fucking phenomenal vocalist, he's a psycho on stage which is so important to me in a live show.
+imlookingforaname Loads of bands do it, usually when they have a really limited set time. I'd honestly prefer it if they played one less song so that the rest would sound super-tight though, because they tend to play them so fast that they make mistakes.
+imlookingforaname Definitely normal for most bands performing live, but honestly they play at such high speeds sometimes it's easier to just give it 100% and play as fast as possible lol. It's mostly for Dave, his blast beats are quiet but he's hitting 3 drums as well as hi hats/ cymbals at 300 notes a minute lol. Hard to do that while keeping moderate speed in my opinion. I would just go as fast as my fingers go

I can actually understand a lot of it. You'll never understand this music until you click with it but when you do you won't just like it, you'll love it. I suggest starting light and progressively getting heavier.

Indeed; he can do the lowest demonic growls and the highest of screams. I can't think of any other vocalist with that kind of range.
