    I looked at every camera out there before buying the XT3 . It came down to the choice of XT 3 or Nikon d850 .
    The XT 3 was made for my shooting style.
    I like photography with a artistic feel.
    This camera will do that.
    This camera with the ability to customize its
    fn buttons and dial’s to the functions I use.
    Light metering / focal points are accurate and fast.
    In higher ISO the noise actually looks good , it’s not blotchy looking or shifting colors.
    For portrait photography this camera with 50-140mm f2.8 lens is fastest and produces the sharp photos .
    To Fuji: if I wanted a video camera I would go buy one. Please don’t ruin your camera’s like
    Sony did chasing video.

    Hey, Ted. Enjoyed hearing your thoughts on the X-T3. One observation about rear LCD screen design. The current implementation really favors stills photographers. It is ideal for shooting low to the ground in portrait orientation. It stays relatively centered on the camera when shooting. It allows street photographers to use it more discretely because it doesn't stick out the side of the camera. And it allows for the use of an L-bracket. A switch to a Canon or Panny-style fully articulating screen offers definite benefits for video shooters-vloggers in particular-but at a cost to stills shooters.

  • @XCMRM80
    @XCMRM80 5 ปีที่แล้ว +58

    I pretty much agree with you Ted, but I have to say, as someone who shoots a lot of landscapes, that the tilting screen works a lot better than a flip screen when you have the camera fitted with an L bracket. I had a canon 6d mkii previously and was often frustrated by the flip screen.

    • @ricardopaquino
      @ricardopaquino 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I sold all of my Canon gear and got the X-T3 a couple months ago. After shooting landscapes, portraits and events, this is a phenomenal camera. The image quality and colors are amazing. The size is perfect - APS-C in a body that fits in my daily carry. I spend so little time in post now because the JPEGs right out of camera are gorgeous. The dual card slots mean I can always keep RAWs and re-process, but more than anything else, taking pictures is fun again. This camera is an absolute joy to use and it's made me fall in love with photography all over again.

      @Ryan Ruark, please elaborate on how Fuji has made your photography fun again as opposed to Canon. I use a 5D Mk 3, and I have to admit, photography hasn't been as fun as when I had a 1D Mk 2n or a 10D before that. Is it really the camera?

    I ditched CANON 5D Mk IV system for X-HI & Fujinon lenses. This is the best decision i ever made! I am excited about the X-T3 as it gives me a good indication for what X-H2 will look like. I just can't wait for that back-lit sensor, the full Phase Detection etc.

    Hi Ted, nice review! As a person whos been using fuji since xt2, I actually prefer not to have articulated screen, bigger battery or IBIS. Articulated screen just causes inconvenience for shooting stills when you go for a low or high angle shoot, what we have now is perfect. It may be ideal for Vbloggers but not for photographers. Ive never had a battery issues, just carry extra battery and keep the body small as is. IBIS isnt really ideal for still shoot in my opinion and when I'm shooting. Majority of X lines are photography focused and XH1 now is more for hybrid. Xt3 is capable of being hybrid but IBIS will only cause a bigger body at more cost. I think for those who are looking toward Fuji line up for video and are looking for iBis, get XH lines. Just my opinion, no big deal. I go for miles and days of hikes, so lighter with WR is ideal for me. Again I'venever had a battery issue for photography.

      Totally agree 100%. I shoot stills and the screen is ideal just the way it's designed. I've never had an issue with the battery life, I shoot about 350 stills and a dozen of those were long exposures over 2 minutes and I didn't need to swap batteries. IBIS would be cool but I have steady hands and primarily use a tripod anyway. The majority of users probably compose a decent image anyway, if they spend half of their time actually learning about light, composition and editing then all these little insignificant camera specs wouldn't be such a big deal in the first place.

      Well it's the best hybrid camera out right now and in my opinion I would say it is just as much a video camera as it is a photography camera. I've used the camera in proper productions and it has not let me down. Also, most productions use a video assist/video recorder externally so a flippy screen really makes no difference in the work flow.

I do not take videos and have no need for the video functions, which I assume takes up a lot of processing power (I may be wrong!). My money would be better spent on lenses (Fuji of course!) than functions I would not use. Comments welcome.

      Steve Healy While I agree with this for my own uses, I don’t think it is practical for Fuji to do it. I think hybrid shooters are becoming ever more prominent today both in the professional and the enthusiast realms, and also more prominent in everyday technology (phones). A video only Fuji camera simply wouldn’t sell well IMO. Those that want only video will buy a Canon or Sony, and those less serious will be fine with the phone.

    • @Being_Joe
      @Being_Joe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't care much for the video features but there are things companies must do to compete. I believe a big reason so many photographers are using Sony is because they have developed somewhat of a one size fits all solution for creatives that are doing both stills and video. I don't care for Sony's cameras (I'm a Nikon guy considering Fuji as an addition to my kit) but I do see why some photographers use them. I like what I see coming from Fuji and I want them to thrive and be around for years to come... so if working on a video features is going to help them stay alive go for it (but Fuji don't forget to improve that image quality while you working on that video).

    • @verselines
      @verselines 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      i see your point but you're looking for a leica. hybrid shooting is the way forward for professionals nowadays and any company that hopes to establish themselves as a viable professional brand cannot afford to neglect video.

    • @PJ-ku5lp
      @PJ-ku5lp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@verselines Suggesting someone needs to get a Leica because they want a body that's primarily oriented toward stills shooters is nothing short of absurd. "You don't want a pickup truck? Then you're looking for a Maserati!"
      Fujifilm makes what, 8 different X-mount bodies? I don't find it illogical to wish one was primarily geared towards stills shooters. It would appear Fujifilm doesn't either, as the X-T line is clearly a stills-first body.

    • @verselines
      @verselines 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PJ-ku5lp that's just the market nowadays. only brands like leica and ricoh (with the gr) with no illusions about penetrating the professional market can continue to bank on producing 'cult' cameras that appeal to purist still shooters as their main product. as for your suggestion - come to think of it, fuji already has a stills-oriented camera for the romantic purists - the x100 series. but they are obviously looking to appeal to working pros as well.

    Ted - You should talk about the X-T3 features that make it a unique value compared to other brands. For example, the bracketing settings that give you not only a wide selection of exposure brackets for HDR, but also focus bracketing built-in, and film simulation bracketing (I have mine set for Astia / Velvia / Acros+R so for each shot I get THREE color profile jpegs and associated raws). What about all the different combinations of Electronic Front Curtain / Mechanical / Electronic shutter, and what is the best choice of those? The distribution of raw and jpg files across the two SD cards varies between single and bracketed shooting. Focus peaking options. Manual focusing in AF mode. Manual focusing while still having back-button focus. Fine-tuning the shutter speed setting with the thumbwheel. Exposure compensation, and the 'C' setting for front wheel setting through the EVF (it needs about +2/3 most of the time, IMO). So many more features. These are all things we want to see you talk about with practical uses, NOT just repeating the *exact same* talking points as every other X-T3 'review' that was done weeks or months ago.

    • @stephenscharf6293
      @stephenscharf6293 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. There's not much here thats any different from other reviews. That being said, having shot for 3 full professional motor racing seasons with an X-T2 and X-T3 for 10 days and a long national championships race weekend, there's not that much between them, aside from the video functionality. IMHO, not enough for me to sell my X-T2 and get an X-T3. If you require eye-focus, focus at -3EV or video, then the X-T3 is a step up. For "general stills photography", personally, there's not enough of a difference for me to upgrade. The nicest feature, IMHO, is the higher res EVF.

    • @WatchmanNiel
      @WatchmanNiel 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Len Laughridge I agree, it seems that there are no great X-T3 expert videos to be found yet. So much can be covered. Apart from what you mentioned there are some funky menu shortcuts and even some quirks, like it not showing the ISO when you use an auto ISO mode with back button focus. But for me even just covering some of the film simulations from a broad (non-Fuji) science perspective would add tremendous value.

    I switched from Canon (5D Mark III) to Fuji (XT-3) back in October and I'm blown away by the XT-3. As a long time Canon shooter, the XT-3 really changed my opinion of Fujifilm.

    • @86Timewarp
      @86Timewarp 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@user-bd6bx6py7d So I (embarrassingly) lost my 5D Mark III recently and was in the market for a new DSLR. I had the 5D for about 2-3 years at that point and it's been an absolute work-horse. I've shot rocket-launches, airshows, portraits, astrophotography, and landscapes with it. Prior to the 5D Mark III, I had a Canon T3i for five years, so I've been a Canon shooter for most of my life.
      When I was in the market for a new camera, the XT-3 just came out and it had a lot of features that really made the 5D show it's true age. I also wasn't really jazzed with how Canon was neglecting video shooters with all the filming limitations of the 5D Mark IV. Ultimately, the price was what really sold me on the XT-3.
      I completely agree with you about the lenses. Because I always have my camera with me, my lens selection is limited to ones that are rated as Weather Resistance, since I often shoot in the rain. I also just bought the 16-55mm f/2.8 because the 50-140mm f/2.8 was out of my price range sadly.
      With the 16-55mm, I doubt I'll be able to cover all the topics/disciplines I did with my 5D Mark III and current selection of Canon lenses.

    • @imagesfromLA
      @imagesfromLA 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Timewarp, I'm a 5D Mark III user. I like it, but I don't love it like I did my 1D Mk 2N, and my 10D before that. I'm thinking about Fuji, and was wondering if it accepts Canon lenses?

    • @86Timewarp
      @86Timewarp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@imagesfromLA So the Fuji XT-3 uses an XF mount (it probably means "cropped-full frame"). While you can get adapters to go from EF to XF, you lose AF and IS on the Canon lens as most adapters don't have the electronic contacts. Additionally, you'll need to "set" the lens aperture you want to use on the Canon body, remove the lens, and then mount it to the XT-3.
      I've used the 1DX Mark IV before, but honestly prefer the 5D Mark III. My school's newspaper actually still has a 10D and 20D, but we keep them for display.
      I will say that a lot of people, including myself, aren't too happy with the current selection of XF lenses offered by Fuji. The quality of the lens and images make them really good, but the focal lengths are very staggered in my opinion. Additionally, third party lens manufacturers, like Sigma, have no plans on working with Fuji to make alternative lenses.

    • @imagesfromLA
      @imagesfromLA 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @86Timewarp, thanks for the great information. I think I'll rent the XT-3, and decide if it's worth going all in for. I love those school newspapers, which is where I was when I decided to get my first digital camera, the 10D.

    • @86Timewarp
      @86Timewarp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@imagesfromLA Nice man! My newspaper covers rocket launches at Cape Canaveral, so we sometimes use older, legacy cameras as pad/remote cameras to cover the actual launch.
      I chose the XT-3 because it was cheaper, had , a higher MP count, had better video capabilities, and was weather resistant. It really made the 5D Mark III show its age, but I know many folks who still use a Mark III and even a Mark II as their daily driver.
      I will say the it did take me a considerable amount of time to get comfortable with the XT-3. It does a lot of what the 5D Mark III can, but it has some quirks. I found that the image displayed in the EF is brighter than what comes out of the camera. Because of this, a lot of my photos generally need a 0.5 to 1 stop brightness increase because I dont want to over exposure and lose data.
      Also, I learned the hard way that my Canon flashes no longer work with Fujifilm. Fuji uses TTL as opposed to E-TTL.

  • @UltraClue

    It's so annoying when people talk about the XT-2 needing the battery grip. Yeah it helps boost it and you have a few more options but it absolutely does not need the grip. I've used the XT-2 since the week it was released and I have never used nor have I ever once needed the boost grip. The camera works beautifully without it and I've never been in a situation where I've thought "Damn, if only I had the boost grip to take this photo" or "If I had the grip I could take 11 frames per second instead of only 8, now I can't get the shot". I'm sorry Ted, I love your videos but I have to disagree with you and the main reason is because I think when someone says you need the grip with the XT-2 it puts some people off buying it because they think they need to spend the extra to get the grip as well.

    Long time viewer, great topic, love the show.
    That said... This camera shouldn't have IBIS, that's the entire purpose of the X-H line. It's like a car reviewer pointing out that the new Camry doesn't have a tailgate. Yes, you're right, but you're manufacturing negative points for no purpose. Some people (stills photographers) want this level of body and do not want a floating sensor as they can negatively affect the image. Even Panasonic has admitted this. As for the flippy/selfie screen, adding one would destroy the current compact vertical mechanism they have today. I've used both and having to throw the screen out to the side to do a simple up/down or low-level vertical shot (90% of the use case for a tilting screen) is irritating. Want it for vlogging? Great, put it on the X-H series.
    The old idiom applies, a jack of all trades will be a master of none. Instead of wishing every new body released be a sum of all features available on the market (a mindset common among every TH-cam reviewer these days), let's take a step back and realize they sell different lines of camera for different purposes. Celebrate diversity, don't call for homogeneity.
    Take care

    • @sixthdutch
      @sixthdutch 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      > as they can negatively affect the image
      But... you can turn it off. It should have IBIS. All cameras should.

    • @PJ-ku5lp
      @PJ-ku5lp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@sixthdutch You realize there is no turning IBIS off per say, you're just locking the mirror in one position. So you're still using all the battery, the mechanism is still taking up all the space, and for someone who never needs or wants it in the first place, these make the camera bigger and the battery smaller. Apparently the mechanism also affects cooling efficiencies, not being able to have a heatsink directly attached (I'll take other people's words on that/I have no experience there).
      Long story short, there's still trade-offs for including it and I go back to my closing statement about appreciating the fact that they sell different lines for different people. If you require or desire IBIS, you have options, why can't other people have options too?

    • @sixthdutch
      @sixthdutch 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PJ-ku5lp I would consider those more of design challenges to be mitigated instead of hard cons to IBIS. It's such a beneficial feature that I don't think any of those things are significant enough to warrant not having it. I have no idea how anyone wouldn't want it, it's insane how much lower you can go in shutter speed while handheld. Do people only shoot in daylight and use tripods and slow shutters at night or indoors?
      But, it's an interesting perspective, this is the first time I've ever seen anyone argue against including it. That makes me feel like Fuji isn't listening to their customers and not including it, they're just trying to segment features and get people to buy a more expensive camera for the feature.

    • @PJ-ku5lp
      @PJ-ku5lp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sixthdutch Well that's certainly a victim's mentality, why not make the more obvious observation that they're offering cameras at lower price points for people who don't want the feature? Clearly the less complex design of a sensor directly on the main board, sans an entire extra mechanism is going to be cheaper to design and build. Are you saying they should artificially increase the X-T3 price to that of the X-H series? Weird thought process.
      And I agree, good design can mitigate a lot of problems, but physics is a real nag. A sensor with an IBIS mechanism is always going to be bigger than just the sensor. Have you ever seen one outside of the camera? It is not insignificant.
      I'm still curious why a company offering consumers options through different product lines is a bad thing. You want IBIS? Terrific, they made the X-H line just for you, the hybrid shooter. The success of the X-T line speaks for itself, however. I'm certainly not the only one who doesn't want or need that technology.

      I'm going to amend here that I think people get all bent out of shape trying to attach every feature to every new camera because of how they're launched. If the launched the X-H2 alongside the X-T3 and basically did like automakers do and update the whole fleet at once, people would be more likely to understand and accept the concept of different models for different consumers. Instead, when they launch the X-T3, everyone gets tunnel vision that THIS is the next newest camera and it should represent every last innovation and feature known to man, otherwise its a failure.
      So, there ya go, I blame the camera industry for how they release stuff. :)

    Regarding battery life: Totally agree with the statement, that it's time for Fujifilm to switch to a bigger battery for the coming X-system cameras. But one workaround on the X-T3 was not mentioned yet - it supports USB PD (PowerDelivery). So with a compatible powerbank you can vastly extend the recording time. Of course makes most sense, when mounted on a rig or tripod.

    Wonderfully clear and concise review - thanks! I think Fuji is pretty consistent w/ their IBIS: if you want it, get the X-H1 (and if you want the X-T3 features, then I'd bet the X-H2 will come out with that). The X-T[123] are all intended for light/small packaging of a kick-ass APS-C camera, the X-H[12?] are for more serious video and/or IBIS users (although they've muddied the waters a bit by making the X-T3 such a good video camera, as you noted). The X-H1 is noticeably larger/heavier than the X-T2 due (primarily) to the IBIS. As to the batteries, I hear that quite often : maybe that's a video thing (I don't do video) but for other uses I've found that the battery life is very much OK (1-year X-T2 user, plus X-T3 for the last couple of months) - I went through just two batteries on a recent shoot where I was constantly adjusting/shooting for about 6-hours straight. I was in a workshop with people using DSLRs (primarily) and they also changed batteries once in that time. The batteries are very small/light - so carrying a couple extra of those sure beats lugging around the grip for most people I'd bet ;-)

    Something I wonder if people are even thinking about. I use an Arca Swiss mounting system, so I have an L-bracket for my camera. video bloggers don't I guess to shoot in Portrait mode, ie: vertical. You can't have a flip out screen if you are going to use an L-bracket, or the only other way is throw away the EVF on top of the camera. As a landscape photographer, it is not something I want to see Fujifilm change, unless I am not giving up something else. Vloggers probably don't even need an APSC camera sensor, hence Panasonic's sales are doing just fine. Any Vlogger can easily use the phone app to easily check to see if they are getting what they want in the shot before rolling camera.

FujiFilm has an excellent range of primes and zooms that make the need of full frame almost of non-existence ....... but for those on a smaller budgets there are great manual lenses from a number of Chinese brands that offer great opportunities all by themselves ..... inexpensive and with great low-light capabilities ..... and the use of manual lenses on mirror-less cameras with focus peeking is a joy to experience .....

    I have an x-t2 and I've been very happy with it. The only thing that I'm missing is IBIS for the prime lenses that I have.
    I tried the X-T3 and it felt exactly like the X-T2. It may have slightly better focus and slightly better video, but the X-T2 already takes beautiful photos and beautiful 4k f-log video... X-T3 doesn't offer better low-light performance nor more dynamic range, so I wouldn't really call it a "no-brainer" update. After trying it out I was convinced to wait for the IBIS model, that would really make a big difference both in photos and video.
    I'm not interested in the X-H1 because if I wanted a DSLR form factor I would've gone for a DSLR, and also not having internal updates after 2 years makes it even harder to justify the purchase.

    Before buying the X-T3, I was seriously doubting it reviving people's love for photography as they were making it out to be. But once I started shooting with it, I couldn't help but keep taking photos and it was so much fun. Sure, I use my Nikon for "work" kind of environments but everything else my Fuji is taking its place. Truthfully, I don't care much about the articulating screen as I never found the desire for one. IBIS is definitely more suited for the X-H(?) line as that's what its whole premise is all about and personally feel doesn't belong on the X-T(?) line.

But for why people love it, it's because of how the camera functions. It's like those old SLRs and everything is as you see it. And sure, I suppose you could translate everything to a normal DSLR but it's not the same soul/feeling. Personally, it's like a manual vs auto. Some people like the drive and go of the auto and in some cases, it beats manual. But the manual has it beat on driving engagement and allure. Something about the manual feels so connected and it's OK to not be the fastest or the best on the track but you sure are having fun.

    It's a terrific camera on the inside but man I do not like the ergonomics (or lack thereof). The button placement is just wrong for my hands and as cool as the manual dials are, they're not quick to use in actual shooting-especially the ev comp-without changing your grip. I did my first proper shoot with it recently in a fairly low light interior which put the iso at 6400 and occasionally 12800. The files look good, but not spectacular. I may end up going back to the Olympus Em1 Mkii - I felt like the s-af was faster and the ibis is fantastic, which may have let me shoot at 1600 or 3200 with arguably similar results, but much better handling.

    Overall, a nice review, Ted. Having shot with X-T2s extensively since they first shipped in 2016, and extensively (over 6000 frames) with the X-T3, while I agree the X-T3 is really an excellent camera with a full and impressive feature set, I don't see any practically significant difference in image quality between the X-T3 and X-T2 when using LR/ACR for RAF demosiacing. There *is* a difference when using Capture One 12 between the two cameras, however, C1 12 RAF demosaicing pulls a bit more detail out and delivers a somewhat fuller color gamut out of the X-T3 file than what the X-T2 provides. Regarding dynamic range, acc. to the data at Photons to Photos, there is virtually no difference between the X-T2 and X-T3, either statistically or practically, in dynamic range from ISO200 all the way up to ISO 51,200. At ISO 160, the X-T3 produces 0.3 stops more DR than the X-T2, which is what you'd expect for a camera set to 1/3 stop lower ISO. All that being said, I prefer the image quality from the X-H1, which I personally find to be be superior to both cameras. It seems to produce more detail yet a "finer-grained" (so to speak) image. I don't know how to put it any other way than it looks the way original Canon 5D files did compared to every other camera on the market at the time: just....better. The X-H1 also meters quite a bit more accurately than either the X-T2 or X-T3.

    • @stephenscharf6293

      @@davedowe6821 It depends on the use-case. For "general photography', and by that, I mean anything but sports or action photography, I don't see any _practically significant_ difference in the AF systems when using the camera in AF-S mode for one frame at a time autofocus. In AF-S mode, the X-T3 acquires and locks AF very slightly faster than the X-T2, but this difference would require a measurement system of high precision to determine as I would guess its on an order of less than 0.1 sec in normal lighting situations. The X-T3 will lock focus at -3 EV while the X-T2, with latest firmware, IIRC, will lock AF in AF-S at -1.5 EV I've never found this difference to be practically significant in the real world. In Continuous, high-speed AF-C mode, when shooting professioinal racing cars at speeds of over 100mph, the X-T3's Zone AF mode will acquire the subject (the car or motorcycle) somewhat more quickly and track a subject somewhat more responsively than the X-T2's AF system; I can't quantify this as I don't have a measurement system with sufficient precision to be able to determine the difference. That being said, I've shot professional motorsports for three years with an X-T2 in Boost mode at 11 FPS with the grip and have obtained outstanding results. I haven't compared the hit rate between the two (the proportion of in-focus/out of focus) for motor racing between the X-T2 and X-T3, but I have compared the hit rate between the X-H1 and X-T3, and performed statistically valid 2-proportion tests with Z-scores and p-vales on *large* data sets, and there is no
      statistically significant difference in the proportions of hit rate between the X-H1 and X-T3 when shooting motor racing in AF-C mode, Custom Mode 3. That's not to say the X-T3 is bad, its to show how good the X-H1 really is.

FYI, Fujifilm NA loaned me an X-T3 and the fantastic new XF200mm f/2.0 for testing for motorsports applications to compare the AF systems between the X-H1 and X-T3, so that's where the data analysis came from. I'm a Design for Six Sigma Master Black Belt and that kind of analysis is...what we do. I would have like to have done a Design of Experiments (DOE) statistical analysis comparing 3 different factors (AF mode, Tracking Sensitivity and Speed Tracking Sensitivity) at 2 levels with quadratics in the model to detemine curvature of the functional response, but to do that with two camera bodies would have required me to create "block" in the DOE matrix and it would have gotten complicated, so I resorted to 2-proportions tests. If you've never tried it, it's exactly like using Lr only without the terrible fuji RAW file handling lol

      @@dirtywater5336 I shoot with the 18-55 all the time. It is not causing the issues you get in Lr. The issue is Adobe being inattentive. As for X-Transformer my experience is very different from you; it works very well. I shoot landscape and trees are a favourite subject to me. Have you varied and tried out the various variables in X-Transformer? I am wondering whether the sharpening values you may have set cause the results you are getting. As i said I have consistent success with X-Transformer and have seen others use Capture One to perfection.

    I bought one, my first Fuji, love it. Have had it for a bit over a month including a week of shooting in Hawaii and can't say enough good about it. What I like the most about it is just using it...all the kind of old school knobs and dials make it both fun and easy. I do wish it had IBIS, but I've never had IBIS on any camera I've owned, so I can't say I miss it exactly, but still.

    I am 150% opposed to those flip out screens. They only make sense if you need to make selfies. For the rest where you just need to hold the camera lower or higher for photos this flip out screen makes the camera more bigger and it takes more time to flip it into the right direction. If Fuji wants to do that, then the only should do that on the X-H1 (or 2 in that case) but never on the X-T series. Ever.

    Hi Ted, absolutely wonderful video. I know you speak from your experience not the spec sheets, but one thing people hardly every talk about is the flash system. My understanding is no other brands, well, maybe Nikon, have anything to compete with Canon when it comes to flash photography which takes ambient and flash output both into consideration and has a sensible auto ISO/shutter speed/aperture value combination, can you test the XT3 in this regard? Really want to know if this is improved from last gen bodies, thank you.

      You can obtain excellent TTL flash performance in ambient light with the Godox series of flashes for Fujifilm. Its really very good, and when I've shot with in strong ambient light for fill for backlit subjects, its very natural-looking.

      @@stephenscharf6293 Hi Stephen, I have the Godox and the problem with Fuji is the metering doesn't take flash into consideration. It may choose a very high iso, slow shutter speed and a weak flash output. I've tried with an old Canon 5D2 and it did way better with flash.

    I am very disappointed with XT3! They say it's the 2nd coming of Christ. But after using the unit at their camera showroom, it's not good as I was expecting it to be (though I fell in love with the overall look and feel, it's a very, very beautiful camera - I really like the manual dials). I sold my full frame camera to a friend and almost bought this, clearly a downgrade - I was telling myself all the time that you don't need a full frame as the XT3 is already comparable to FF cameras based on the reviews I read. But man, good thing I visited their showroom and tested it myself. Which means it's particularly true that once you have used a bigger sensor sized camera, you definitely cannot go back to a smaller one.

    Fuji's X-T3 is a great camera, for portraits, architecture , some sports and action, and of course video !!
    But what I don't understand is why everyone is claiming that the image quality overall is great ?! because when it comes to landscape photography... the worming / water color stuff is still visible and no image processor can deal with is in a good way. If you enlarge your image to 30*40cm and more you will see noticeable lost of details in trees and leafs and that sort of objects.
    For me who is mainly in landscape photography the X-T3 is another disappointing camera from Fuji. I wish and hope that Fuji will switch in the future to a non X-Trans sensor and keep all the other incredible features in and on the camera !

      I agree, C1 and Irident do a better Job than Adobe, but it is not the detail quality in resolution ( for landscape photography !!) that I am used to in my Sony A7 II for example. And it is not a question of the lenses or my skills. But this is just my opinion !!

      The post-processing issue, I.e. having to buy and learn to use Irrident or C1pro, is the main thing stopping me considering the Fuji route to mirrorless. Might just have to wait until the Z6 mk2 is released. Very tempted by the form factor, weight and fabulous lenses though.

      It also works better on gimbals and is more effective when shooting low and high angles. It's also less fiddly compared to Fujis current articulating design. It's overall a significantly better way to work. Also if you're filming yourself (not vlogging) it's extremely useful. Vloggers aren't the only kinds of people that benefit from a full flip out touch screen.

    • @dirtywater5336
      @dirtywater5336 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I disagree. I am a still shooter and I sometimes run into an awkward angle with my X-T3 , such as down on the ground for macro photography, that my X-T3's articulating screen can't really handle. Whereas my old Canon 60D, which had a fully articulating flip screen, would have made it a lot easier to get the shot. A flip screen isn't just for vloggers and if it doesn't inhibit the design any, what's the drawback?
