    He roamed my neighborhood and my streets in Lake Hollywood and Hollywood Dell. I never saw him in person, but had great comfort that he was always nearby. I’m at a total loss. LONG LIVE P22.

    I think it’s very admirable that they have been so transparent about his condition and cause of death. So often when beloved animals are put to sleep in zoos the public is not made aware about the circumstances surrounding the animals condition and I think it really gives honor to his memory and a nod to the love that the community that lived with him to tell people all the details. I’m in Australia 🇦🇺 and knew about this beautiful big cat, that’s how far an impact he made. RIP P-22 I hope you are running wild in the biggest park there is ❤

    My heart is broken. I was really hoping he would survive and have a couple more years at a sanctuary. But if he was going to suffer…then I suppose this was a kinder way.
    He seemed to me to be such a gentle soul for a cougar. Never caused any trouble until only just recently due to desperation and illness. He never was able to mate or know companionship. And all of his scent marking was for naught. Sweet soul, now you can run free in heaven.. ❤️

    Results showed P-022 had several severe injuries, such as significant trauma to his head, right eye, and internal organs from a suspected vehicle strike, as well as multiple chronic health illnesses, including irreversible kidney disease, chronic weight loss, an extensive parasitic skin infection over his entire body, and localized arthritis. Due to his poor condition, CDFW made the extremely difficult decision to euthanize P-022 on the morning of Dec. 17, 2022.
    There was so much more to this male mountain lion than his living around the Hollywood Sign.
    Rest in Peace P-22 ✝️🕊❤️🐆

    I just do not understand how/why this cat was left in this urban park, it was just a matter of time before this cat met a bad fate from a vehicle, poisons or people. He should have been captured and relocated to (maybe) the Angeles National Forest, or another wildlife area, where he could roam freely with less danger.

    • @nomisunrider6472
      @nomisunrider6472 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Adult mountain lions can't handle relocation, especially the males. They're very attached to their territories, and having their world change seemingly overnight stresses them out and they decline rapidly. In addition, he's an old lion, and so he'd probably be killed by a younger, stronger male.

    He lived a good life for a decade in Griffith Park with plenty of wildlife to live off of. As he became elderly, like all older predators, he became too old to hunt wildlife so went after pets that were easier. There were so many sightings of him in peoples yards this past year. Being hit by a car was inevitable. However remember he lived a long and full life of a big cat. 14 is very old for a cougar.

    He was a danger to pets and small children. He should of been moved far away before this happened because bears and big cats are getting way too comfy around people.

      easy way to stop that problem stop building houses that are in the animals habitat then there would be no danger apart from people with guns I bet that there are more people that are killed by someone with a gun than there is from an animal

    What about the millions of “majestic” babies that die from starvation and illness every year just in Africa. I’m all for conservation of wildlife but….here in America, one of the wealthiest places on Earth, we Americans care more for animals than the hundreds of homeless people in our cities. I think our empathy, our priorities, our tears, are severely misplaced. Could we care a bit more for our fellow humans? Could we get this emotional over our fellow countrymen and women than need help, healthcare, food, a place to live. Could we care more for our fellow men, for children, for babies, here in our great country and on other parts of the planet? Rich man tears. Only in America.

      The animals also need help the same exact way you cry about helping humans. If you don’t like this country you can leave and help the homeless in Africa.

      @@LCx829 …No…. This is my country. I’m not leaving. I want to help the homeless here first. But also everywhere else, if possible. BTW… I didn’t mention homeless in Africa. I mentioned millions of black babies that die of starvation and illness every year in Africa and that should be a priority over animals. I want to help animals also, but humans first. Or is it the color of the skins of the babies dying in Africa that allows you to put them out of mind so quickly and easily?

      @The713Sonic ปีที่แล้ว

      @@R-L-I Yeah, I’d blame the mountain lion still. I mean he killed my dog. Crocs have killed humans along with bears and they must also be euthanized once they do so it shouldn’t be different here, it still is family. P-22 might have been a social experiment idk I have to check, but I deeply believe is not that serious. I mean some people game and kill animals like deer, elephants, lions and so much many more around the globe. This lion got to 12 years of age almost on his way out with a painless injection.

    A cat died. Tens if not hundreds of humans die on the streets of Los Angeles every day and it is rarely mentioned. Get your priorities together. This anthropomorphization of animals must end. The liberal idea that dogs should be in restaurants or airplanes or grocery stores goes right along with this ridiculousness. It was an old freakin' cat. Animals should not suffer and neither should the homeless you step over every day.
