Thank you for all your reviews for the NIU KQi2 Pro ! I really couldn't choose between ninebot, iscooter, kugoo,.. but after watching a lot (and I mean A LOT) of different video's in the past 3 days, I made up my mind and just ordered the NIU KQi2 Pro. Especially thank you for the review update video ! Have a nice day !
Great to see that it holds up. Bought mine last summer and just took it out of storage today now that the weather is nice. I'm not going to worry about riding it in the rain after seeing what you put yours through.
Nice video. I have to say after owning my KQI 2 Pro for over a year that overall I am happy with the purchase. The only major issue I have come across is the rear tire needing to be replaced and sometimes when driving at night the headlight will go off after being on for a while and you have to turn it back on, other then that for the price it's a good entry level scooter. My experience with their customer service was also good.
@@MarkDanger777 It is a pain. Specifically the last part of removing the actual tire from the rim, I had to get a local shop to do it for me and it took like 5 hours to find a place that works with electric scooters.
@@Evisonsl The back tire has a tendency to develop a slow leak which makes you need to pump it up occasionally, I think it depends on where you ride the scooter. The trail system I use has trees over it so... I do think the fact the tire is on so tight and there is no innertube makes me think just pumping the tire up is probably the least hassle fix, I mean a new tire can go bad too eventually.
Appreciate the videos man, i need to replace the throttle and you have been the best guide to follow and have helped keep my anxiety down about the entire process.
I put on mine 1365 miles (2196 kilometers) and it always worked great, I even crashed with it and the front wheel turned a lil bit but still working until someone stole it, now I bought the Kqi 3 max and I’m waiting for it to.
I changed the rubber grips of the handlebar to something wider to rest my palm because i found the stock grips to be so skinny and not ergonomic. Great review and the library of knowledge you're building of the scooter is valuable!
Thanks. Not sure how long it will last, but so far I have not noticed any decreased performance or range. From what I found you should get about 500 charge cycles before noticing any degradation. But it depends on a lot of external factors how the battery is used, stored, etc...
1700km with mine and its still going strong, only issue with it is the breaks not working for a bit when its fully charged, almost got me killed a few times
I did come across the regen brakes not working when fully changed as well, its not ideal, you need to be careful or tighten the drum brake to be more effective. I did not notice it for a while as I usually don't need to use the breaks when I leave my place for several minutes.
wowww amazing man i have like 300+ most of the time i dont charge it to 100%(because i noticed what are u sayin and i want to keep my battery cool) normally 80 to 90% and charge when is like 35 to 40...
great video per usual! I just got mine and I had a quick question: how does it do on grass, stone/pebble paths, and other rough uneven surfaces? From your experiences
On bumpy grass it probably would not be great, but it should handle packed dirt and a little bit of light gravel just fine, such as the one here th-cam.com/video/5Q6xSs4kFa0/w-d-xo.html I have taken the Ninebot Max G30LP on this very same trail and it was ok. The KQi2 is nearly identical in terms of wheel size and tyres, so it should handle a trail like this as well, but its not the most enjoyable ride and I would not want to ride regularly on unpaved trails with either the G30LP or the KQi2. The ideal surface for them is paved roads.

I would probably not hang more than 3kg on it, I put most of the heavy stuff in my backpack and usually hang light items that take more space than weight on the handlebars/hook. Such as bread, cereals, snacks, frozen pizza, etc. I once carried a 24 pack of toilet paper on there.
It can handle a bit of grass as long as its not bumpy, e.g. golf course vs wild flower field. Same with riding on dirt or forrest trails, if its mostly flat compact dirt its fine as long as there are no rocks all over the trail.
Nice review. What are your thought about the scooter on pavement with some sand? Is it slippery? I know you might have that such condition in your area.
Hi there! Great video! How many times did the tires get puncture during this time? I don't really like air filled tires because of this headache, but this scooter looks pretty solid overall and I'm tempted to buy it
Hello, thanks. The only puncture I got on the KQi2 was at around 1900km few weeks ago that you can see me fixing here th-cam.com/video/NG3NLKQVSpw/w-d-xo.html no other punctures.
So far nearing 2000km I had no issues riding in rain, snow, fog or any other weather. The scooter has survived even some big storms, but I would definitely advise to try and not ride in very bad weather :D Since the warranty does not cover water damage it is always a bit of a risk riding in rain, but it has not been a problem in my experience and if you watch some of my other KQi2 disassembly/repair videos you can see that the internal components are pretty well sealed against the elements.
For my main review I did some riding with strong regen on, but I really don't like strong regen on electric scooters in general, so I have not used it enough to give a good assessment of how it might affect range, but from experience it does not make a big difference.
Thanks. I only experienced Error 03, at the very start, which is a throttle issue, and I fixed it by replacing the throttle, no issues since then (you can see the details on it and how I fixed it here th-cam.com/video/6U0HE3f7d9M/w-d-xo.html ).
I have not tried doing that. There were some videos from some German and Spanish guys floating around months ago, but not sure if what they did still works. You might be able to find some discussion on it over at www.reddit.com/r/ElectricScooters/ or www.reddit.com/r/kqi3/ but be careful as messing with the firmware voids your warranty.
There is no hardware speed limiter wire, like on some scooters that use the universal QS-S4 display/throttle. Afaik the speed limit is controlled by the firmware on the controller.
You can check my hill climb tests here th-cam.com/video/LY3aw4w5XRo/w-d-xo.html overall its fine going up moderate hills, but if you have a lot of steep hills in your area and you are closer to the max scooter weight as I am, you might have a harder time going up.
When you have the scooter charged to 100% you do need to use up a bit of battery before the regen electronic brakes activate, you can still brake with the mechanical drum brake as normal. So it is something to keep in mind when you start riding from 100% battery for the first few minutes of the ride.
@@Lantea13 so you still can brake when it’s fully charged but not as good as with the electronic brakes? And I’ve seen some review s about people getting an error message on their scooter. Did this ever happened to you?
Correct, if you have the mechanical brake adjusted correctly you can brake with it as normal, only the electronic brake is off while the battery is at 100% so your braking power will be reduced. I did have the error3 throttle issue, I talk about it in my full review th-cam.com/video/LY3aw4w5XRo/w-d-xo.html and I also made a video on how I fixed it.
You can find all the video on the KQi2 I did here th-cam.com/play/PLb3q9WiQZ0LOACttdyEq-Enat4eUqCLnt.html for the throttle fix see the throttle repair error 03 fix th-cam.com/video/6U0HE3f7d9M/w-d-xo.html but NIU told me a while back that they made a new version of the throttle, so any issue with it should be rare; since I replaced my throttle havent had any issue since for over 1500km
If you mean it depletes very fast, there is only a few things to do; you can ride at a slower speed to get more range from the scooter, and avoid hills; but other than that there is only so much range you can get out of the battery.
thanks for the review i was looking for kqi 2 pro reviews because there is a sale at the moment and found your channel in a reddit post. Also what was the avg range and what do you think about their brakes. I am a student who will mostly use it to go to school and to cruise around. At the moment the scooter costs 400€. Do you recommend the kiq2 pro or any other scooter like the ninebot e22.
I think €400 is a good price for the KQi2 and the scooter is well worth it, imo. As for the range I got around 25km. The brakes work fine, you can adjust the drum brake if needed. You can check out my initial full review that has much more detail on the range tests, hill climb test and brake test over at th-cam.com/video/LY3aw4w5XRo/w-d-xo.html If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
