Dude. Thank you. I have the Rockwell 6C but (per your ) and love that razor. With your advice, I pulled the trigger on the Henson with the more aggressive config. I just shaved my second time with it. HOLY SMOKES. Incredible. VERRRRY guidable, LOVE the fact that the entire blade is hidden by the razor and (my one gripe about the 6C), and honestly, a) had to get used to how light it is (took 5 minutes) and b) could not have gotten a better shave. This after three days' tough growth. It is very, very "positive." That is, the feedback is that you are cutting, making pogress. Thanks again.
Hi Dave. We made the switch about the same time and I've followed you since about 2 months after you started making these videos. I gotta tell you: your presentations have continued to get better and better. Excellent information in a concise format. A great video, especially for newbies. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into these. Hope and pray your foot continues to improve, too! Cheers.
A Henson razor I saw on TH-cam was what got me interested in making the switch to a double edge razor. I was already sick and tired of paying outrageous prices for cartridges, so the ad put me over the edge (no pun intended). I have now been shaving for almost 3 years with a DE razor and I look forward to shaving every 2nd or 3rd day.
Melbourne. David. You may have seen/remembered my response to your recent questionnaire. You asked what made me return to DE about 2 years ago after 40 odd years of cartridge. Answer. It was all of what you, & others, are doing here. Learnt heaps from you particularly. Alum. Witch hazel. Up 'til then I'd never heard of 'em. What a step up those 2 were. Just part of the routine now thanks to you. Have a great week.
I know that the Henson AL13 is about 80 dollars but with its quality it really is a one time purchase. They will last forever as long as you take care of them.❤
I have my Henson AL-13 mild and I love it, sofar I prefer shavingcreme in combination with the preshaveoil, what a great combo. This was your suggestion in a previous video. Thanks for that 😀
Another awesome video. Always chock full of good info. You are right about steps to shaving. There is a get ready, shaving and post shave routine and you keep those steps the same it is pleasure. Also your right on leaving the lather on. The longer the better. I actually once left it for 10 minutes once. Noticeably improved first pass but I don't have the patience to do that anymore. Also I describe that Kai blade as all the good parts of a Feather without the over sharpness. To me a Kai blade is the perfect partner to a Henson razon. Both top of their class. Keep up the good work.
I like my ++ also. I wish I had bought the Ti version in ++ but I bought the +. I might have to ebay it and buy the ++ model. Good to see you using a different razor blade. Spread the wealth!
Hey mate hope you are on the mend watched the live seems like things are getting better slowly. As always thanks for the video, good for the newcomer and the seasoned shaver. I agree post shave is essential. I use thayers original, lavender or rose and also have the snow mushroom which is also great if your skin is drying out or you suffer from the occasional outbreak of dermatitis like I do. Geo F Trumpers skin foods are also great. The only splashes I really use are proraso and tabac. But at the end of the day for everyone its about finding what works for your skin and go with it. Start with a good razor, sharp blade and quality lather and you can't go wrong. I personally use a blade twice they are that cheap and I find with my beard most coatings wear off after 2 shaves. Have a great day mate, take care.
You make it hard to say anything but great job! You explain everything in great detail and i love the slo mo and sound effects. Ariana and evans does make some great soaps and splashes!! Again great video as always and have a great week brother ! Still praying your foot heals faster than you expect it too!
I have both the Henson AL13 (mild) and a Rockwell C (Gunmetal), amongst some other razors, and I find that I prefer the Rockwell over the Henson. As for a brush I have the Simpson T3 which is great and I've never understood the need, or why I would ever _find_ the need to change the knot size such as the Timeless brush enables one to do. Have you ever changed the knot size, and if so why?
Yeah, there's quite a few different nuts out there that are superior to others but if you find one you like there's really no need to change. It's just finding the one you like. To me having a adjustable shaving brush doesn't limit you to having one knot.
been using the Ti22 ++ lately and it is my favorite razor now. I gave up on henson after the AL13 + but got a great deal on the Ti22 ++ and had to try it. Glad I did
What was your issue with the AL13+? I tried the revamped ++. My beard is coarse I really had trouble with it in my most coarse areas and where it grows in circles. I liked the blade exposure, but felt I could benefit from a slight bit more gap. Their curved blade clamping really is effective on those easier areas.
@@christopheratkinson635 The AL13+ ultra light weight and very mild exposure left me overshaving most areas of my face trying to get a decent shave, which in turn actually caused more irritation rather than solving it. The slightly heavier Ti22 has been great, and paired with the ++ aggression I have actually loved the Ti22++ razor.
Great video as always. The Henson Al13+ was my first de razor and my best one to date. I agree that the Feathers have way too much goo. I used one for the first time today and I was like” Am I going to get this blade out the wrapper without slicing my finger up”. Then when I dismantled my razor after the shave, there was goo all over the razor.
I started with the AL-13++ medium in blue. Love it. Since then I have purchased some other razors... mostly stainless steel. I find i really like the heavier razors, but I do use my Henson in my rotation. Get great shaves with it.
If you want go to Phoenix shaving and get one of their Stainless Steel flare tip handles. They are about $20 and fit the Henson. I will say it looks odd but it adds the extra weight to it. Been getting really good results with mine.
Very nice. I have a question about the facial toner. Do you think it'll help me with a little bit of razor bumps (looks like small pimples)I still get after some shaves? It does not happen a lot and it is much less than what it was with the normal disposable razors but this is the last bit of irritation I have been sitting with since picking up wet shaving in the beginning of 2023.
Dave, is it safe to say you would recommend a AL13 over a Rockwell 6C/S for a beginner? Or not. Also since you have shaved with both what is your feeling on a Rockwell 2TSS. I have a friend looking at the 6S or T2. He is experienced and has asked me, but I haven't ever used a T2. Was at the OSU/Indiana game yesterday and saw a guy wearing a Razor Emporium shirt. My sister walked out on the field at halftime. I would have been there. Long walk. I would go with the T2SS for someone with experience. It’s like buying the 6C and loving it. Then, buying the 6S.

I recently switched from a full goatee to a no-mustache goatee because the 'stache was driving me crazy, and that's when I discovered my mustache hair is WAY more coarse than the hair on my jaws/cheeks, so the Harry's razors I've been using (5 blade razors, like a cheaper Gillette Fusion) don't cut it anymore, literally and figuratively. The Harry's razors chop more than slice the hairs, so I get nicks and not a clean shave on my upper lip. Research on what to use to get a better shave has led me to looking into DE razors, and the rabbit hole led me here. So, I own a Rockwell 6c, which I really love and I get awesome shaves with it, and I own a pretty good clone of the Merkur Futur which is awesome as well. Would it be worth to get a Henson? My goal in shaving is having that bbs, while having a very smooth shave with no irritation. I would love to test it, but the price is really heavy for me personally
@ That sounds awesome. But do you ship to germany as well? That is the problem most times, that these giveaways are US only a pretty high amount of times. But I will stay tuned anyways, because I really enjoy the community here. In these times it is great to have such a non-toxic gathering of people who have the same hobby ❤️
@@MPlabert I ship overseas. I've paid 100 bucks to ship overseas and it's OK with me. I appreciate my subscribers, especially my members. No worries here.
I actually have spoke with them and they were supposed to send some products and never did. Maybe we should email them to let them know that I'm still interested in using their products. Help a brother out?
Dave, I want to have only one Henson razor. There are three versions. I shave about every third day and don't have a heavy bread. Can I assume the Med version?
I know this is a henson video, but I’ve been debating between the Henson razor and the Rockwell 6C. Ended up getting the Rockwell because Black Friday specials going on. $49 for a 6c razor and a free tin of soap and free shipping on Rockwell web site 😱
Henson is prolly the best razor 🪒 in the market rn. It aint as heavy as those stainless steel or chrome ones an its precise af. No blade overhang either!
I could've shaved in the time I spent watching this video. I'll put it off until tomorrow. I'm starting to look like Santa Claus. It's been more than a month since I shaved. I'm gonna go with the R41 for this big bushy mess-- saves me from trimming it first because the R41 is a savage beast. Thanks for the review of the Henson. I might break down and buy one someday. My regular every day razor is a Merkur 33C. How does a Henson compare with that one?
i get 16 - feather, 12 - KAI, 6 - Astra (russian) good shaves per blade i find most blades i get between 4-6 good shaves and i can usually push 2 more out but i'm doing this for testing, i do not recomend that at all, in grown hairs weepers and more burning when alum block is applied. i highly recomend the second you noticing it to start to dull, pulling, missing hairs and or the sting from the alum block, change your blade then.
Most of that is like how I find. Feather Hi-Stainless, when I get up beyond about 11 or 12 shaves, my number of passes goes from slightly more than two , up to three passes.
I bought the AL13++ about 2 months ago. My first safety razor. It's good but I wish I got +++ instead. Is there a forum or subreddit known for selling these? I don't expect much money for it but don't want to hoard. I bought the Rockwell 6S Black Friday kit too. Their website wouldn't let me stack the Ohio Shave discuss. 50% off is still a great deal.
eBay is good. If you want the most aggressive Henson, I would just go with a rock well. You're on the right path here's my code. That razor looks great in the blue, and the angle is fixed so either u hold right or it won't cut. Other razors if u angle wrong is will scrape the skin causing irritation
Absolutely! The design really minimizes the chances of irritation, making it a great option for a smooth shave. You should become a member Joe I like the way you think
Theory about the Henson: it appears they designed it around a specific blade. Given that they used to pair it with astra greens. People also recommend blades like Gillette nacet, Gillette platinum - those were all made by the same Russian factory and probably stamped from the same die. Those plants got shutdown though. Now astras and Gillette are made in India. So that makes me question the idea of a super precision machined razor. Like what if the Indian astras are even just 1 thousands of an inch different than the Russians, that changes all the specs the Henson was designed around.
i have heavy thick beard and i was using before for my beard wilkinson tto premium, now i am using one blade but around mouth and nose i have to use after one blade again safety razor.but i noticed when i change the blade (not wilkinson sword blade, just more ligty), i am cutting myself around the mouth and nose so i am thinking if i stop using one blade for my beard and return to safety razor and after beard going to shave around mouth and nose, then i think i shouldn't cut myself too much with new blade inside, cause when i was shaving my beard and fter that mouth and nose before, i had perfect shave without any cuts, but my shave was 1 hour long, with one blade and safety around mout and nose it it is 30 min.
i have to say my shave was long cause i have a little long hair and i have klippel feil syndrom for shoulder that's why I put a band on my head to throw my hair back, like when shaving I have to wet it and put it both to the left and to the right so that I don't catch it with the razor, and after all when I leave the bathroom I have to dry my hair.

@@OhioShaves thanks for the info! I subscribed.
@bigbadwolf5033 Welcome aboard. Our channel has over 500 videos. Enjoy my friend
I would buy it. But it wouldn’t finance it with having a Rockwell. I give 4 or 5 away per year so stay tuned
When I got my Henson razor I stopped shopping for razors. I use it every day and put a feather blade in it. Perfect baby butt smooth shave everyday 😊
Perfection 💈👍
great video
Thank you much
Did you try Barrister and Mann Seville for the soap? Love to hear your thoughts.
I actually have spoke with them and they were supposed to send some products and never did. Maybe we should email them to let them know that I'm still interested in using their products. Help a brother out?
nice video !!
Thank you! Cheers!
Dave, I want to have only one Henson razor. There are three versions. I shave about every third day and don't have a heavy bread. Can I assume the Med version?
mild or medium
Hey what’s up i got a question? I have a stainless steel Syntesi should I upgrade to the Henson al13 or not?
If you’re having problems with your technique, I definitely would. But it’s a great razor.
I know this is a henson video, but I’ve been debating between the Henson razor and the Rockwell 6C. Ended up getting the Rockwell because Black Friday specials going on. $49 for a 6c razor and a free tin of soap and free shipping on Rockwell web site 😱
Huge sale. Great buy. Using Ohio_Shaves gives you 10% off the sale price
Henson vs merkur 34c? Which is the best one?
Henson
Henson is prolly the best razor 🪒 in the market rn. It aint as heavy as those stainless steel or chrome ones an its precise af. No blade overhang either!
I’ve always loved it’s balance.
R41 is a beast. I have only shaved with the 34c
@ 15:07 definitely thought you were going to say "balls" there
🤣
i get 16 - feather, 12 - KAI, 6 - Astra (russian) good shaves per blade i find most blades i get between 4-6 good shaves and i can usually push 2 more out but i'm doing this for testing, i do not recomend that at all, in grown hairs weepers and more burning when alum block is applied. i highly recomend the second you noticing it to start to dull, pulling, missing hairs and or the sting from the alum block, change your blade then.
Most of that is like how I find. Feather Hi-Stainless, when I get up beyond about 11 or 12 shaves, my number of passes goes from slightly more than two , up to three passes.
Nice breakdown! I totally get what you mean about the alum block sting-nothing like a little burning reminder to change it up, right?
I bought the AL13++ about 2 months ago. My first safety razor. It's good but I wish I got +++ instead. Is there a forum or subreddit known for selling these? I don't expect much money for it but don't want to hoard.
I bought the Rockwell 6S Black Friday kit too. Their website wouldn't let me stack the Ohio Shave discuss. 50% off is still a great deal.
eBay is good. If you want the most aggressive Henson, I would just go with a rock well. You're on the right path here's my code. If you're not buying a kit, you're gonna be able to add my code for an additional 10% off.

😂 Gotta do the slow mo thing!
😎
Nice shirt!
Thanks! I’m a Glock fanboy
Gotta try that soap
It's the most underrated soap and the wet shaving community. It's a must have in my shave in my studio. They will not disappoint you
Great shave brother! I gave away my Hensons (2) to enable young new wet shavers. I need to get me another one. #mwsga
My Man. So cool
I recommend razor blades made in the United States of America my friend. Don't give a shit what other people say. USA is the best.
i have heavy thick beard and i was using before for my beard wilkinson tto premium, now i am using one blade but around mouth and nose i have to use after one blade again safety razor.but i noticed when i change the blade (not wilkinson sword blade, just more ligty), i am cutting myself around the mouth and nose so i am thinking if i stop using one blade for my beard and return to safety razor and after beard going to shave around mouth and nose, then i think i shouldn't cut myself too much with new blade inside, cause when i was shaving my beard and fter that mouth and nose before, i had perfect shave without any cuts, but my shave was 1 hour long, with one blade and safety around mout and nose it it is 30 min.
i have to say my shave was long cause i have a little long hair and i have klippel feil syndrom for shoulder that's why I put a band on my head to throw my hair back, like when shaving I have to wet it and put it both to the left and to the right so that I don't catch it with the razor, and after all when I leave the bathroom I have to dry my hair.

Thanks my friend
Can you get a BBS shave with the Henson razors?
I get a glass light finish with a two pack shave
@OhioShaves Thank you.
Did henson have a red version at one point?
Yes. Version 1. They’re on 2.0 right now.
@@OhioShaveshow much better is the v2 vs the v1?
@yo25999 Better design
@@yo25999 it's a revised version. That's like using a rotary dial phone to a cell phone.
Their is no way to order it to srilanka , if you are giving away I’m on top of the list ❤
I’ll keep you in the pecking order.
❤️
I'm a disabled guy and I have difficulty shaving let alone face lathering. I've bowl and faced lathered half and half my face. as much as it physically pains me to face lather, I'll never go back to a bowl lather. the slickness is night and day different.
What's your disability brother? I sit on a barstool to shave in front of the mirror for the last few of years. Two hip surgeries and now almost losing my foot/leg. I've been disabled for three years and that's how this TH-cam channel came about.
@@OhioShaves mostly lower back. i have c3 nerve damage in my neck. i have numbness going down both arms right to the tip of my fingers, i have to put my pinky finger under my drinks so i don't let the cups slip out of my hands as i can't tell how much strnght i'm using to hold them. when doing a face lather i got to take 2 breaks to finshing it. i sit on the toilet with a swing mirror that comes out almost to the edge of the toilet.
@@OhioShaves - as you know as well if you press your face to shave it'll give you ingrown hairs. i'm 6'3" 450 lbs, so a fat face, so i have to use really sharp blades and just glide the razor, an AL-13+, Over the face and sometimes i use you finger tip trick when i'm pushing the limit of the shaves out of a blade.
@@TerryNS that's commitment, Terry. Thanks for all your support is greatly appreciated and not overlooked. You demand my friend people like you that make me keep going making videos and knowing that there's a difference between every of their person out here. God bless you
@@OhioShaves thank you, god bless you too, hope the recovery goes fast and well. i used to laugh and tease my nephew for watching people play video games. here i am now enjoying watching a guy shave.
But i have now switched to T2 rockwell….
Great razor brother. Nice pick
Excellent vid (as usual). I took delivery of my new Rockwell T2 SS today. It is far superior to the To the gunmetal one I have. That is hard to believe (for me). The craftsmanship in this razor is awesome! Thanks for the Black Friday code!
You’re a smart man for getting that one. That Rockwell is a beast.
