It's hard to judge from the video, but I think this 1.8 million simulation already took weeks based on how slow results were coming in. Python is great for implementing fun ideas quickly, but it's not so good for scaling up into billions of match-ups. To run such a large simulation on a home PC you'd have to figure out a way of running simulations in parallel on the GPU and even with optimized code it would most likely take months.
To put into perspective how strong E-max eternatus is, Pure Hackmons is stuck at Gen 7 for the simple reason of it existing. If you EV and nature it right, you can make it so that it can only take 1 damage from a certain kind of move, because its stats were so high it MADE THE DEFENSE CALCULATIONS OVERFLOW.
There was a Gen 8 Pure Hackmons for a while on showdown, and the metagame page recommended you have AT LEAST two or three Eternamax Eternatus. That’s how stupid it is.
Yeah same especially since lore wise they aren’t even that crazy like to the point where I personally feel like they barely deserve the legendary title.
Not really. It's been like almost 10 years and only 3 mons are ahead of it. If anything that's an argument for the lack of powercreep. 10 years is substantial staying power. Now if it couldn't stay in the top 20 and the top 10 were filled with the last 2 gens of Pokemon you'd have a decent point.

At least, Rampardos is well-suited for battles like this. It's a pure 1v1. Rampardos sucks normally because he's way too fragile to be of use for anything except head smashing something into oblivion, then getting revenge-killed. Here though, he just needs to head smash something into oblivion.
17:35 Haxorus was done so dirty after getting into the top 20 of all time. You cant base this list off objectivity, the simulated AI definitely messed up bad (or Frank's manual sets were just bad) in a lot of places after looking at the list closer as some of the pokemon high/low on the list I cant even fathom being in those spots. Although Miraidon did win a recent official regional tournament so there is that
Greninja fans always be like this lol. Hating everything doesn't put it in #1. The truth is it was too weak even before the nerf. His rank would be higher, yes, but not even in the top 3.
Curse was used to predict a sub or etc, and deal with some mirror coat users. Plus can be useful against darks at times. It was still VERY fringe tho, would have prob been better with just full out attacking moves.
He doesn’t seem to have much understanding of 1v1 format vs 6v6 or doubles format, so he just choose “a competitive moveset” without considering which format said moveset is supposed to competing in.
@@estevaovalentim3286 Yeah this is the best result you can get unless you want to interfere with tens of thousands of 1v1s manually, which would be a tall order to say the least lmao
@@JackLeighton-uh6sl Interestingly, one of Swampert's most competitive sets used curse and he still ranked above Calirex who got the same. Gess the AI just wanted to do him dirty.
I remember my fight against Dome Ace Tucker in Emerald. My slaking is IV/EV trained with Hyperbeam, Slack Off, Substitute, and Yawn. Arguably the best slaking one can make. But this dang charizard had the balls to barely survive a full hyperbeam! It became a dance with me substituting away from overheat, healing, and just trying to get him to sleep so I can attempt to hyperbeam again but I missed MULTIPLE TIMES! Then finally-I get to hit him again. This all could've been over sooner if my Slaking had 380+ attack power instead of 376.
Would love to see a sequel, with the mistakes cleaned up or even just more data scrapped out to show off more oddities. Hearing about the biggest upset by rank. Win loss percentages of Pokémon. Any surprises regarding type match ups. Strongest Pokémon of each Generation. Infighting within groups of Pokémon for the strongest bird or dog or regi. Evolution line upsets.
"I tweaked some of the movesets to be viable in 1v1s" "Also I left Curse on Spectrier for some reason" Believe it or not, Spectrier is Legal in Smogon 1v1s, so you actually could've gone to the 1v1 metagame thread and found this exact set from a sample team: Spectrier @ Life Orb Ability: Grim Neigh Tera Type: Ghost EVs: 4 HP / 140 Def / 164 SpA / 200 Spe Timid Nature - Hyper Beam - Hex - Will-O-Wisp - Calm Mind This is how you make a Spectrier for 1v1s lol
Thank you, this was bugging me so much. Like I enjoyed the video for the most part but how am I supposed to believe that Spectrier is ever supposed to run curse AND place lower than every single first stage starter in pokemon
I'm glad Meloetta got ranked high. She's not as worthless as many people think. Her ability to change her typing and stats mid battle is kind of OP. Not to mention, she has Serene Grace (which boosts the chance of causing status effects), and she can learn all sorts of status causing moves (including relic song, which can induce sleep).
I'm so sad it ended that early. What was the final mon's win rate? What did it lose too if it did at all? Will Frank ever figure out how to say eviolite?
It had 3216 wins and only 75 losses! Miraidon in second had 3081 wins and 210 losses so it was a HUGE gap. The only Pokémon that could beat it were insanely bulky pokemon that could take an eternabeam and chip it down abusing the recharge turns (like blissey with seismic toss). I might do a stream breaking everything down even more, thanks for watchin ❤
@@AstroidmaniaVideosno i want to see if it would lose with its set that makes its defense 0 making it only ever take one damage unless with outside attacking damage like status moves i would have to assume nothing is beating it

power creep: "Hey, Slaking, MOVE!" Slaking: "nah, too lazy... give me another generation or two..." power creep: "You've been saying that since Gen 3!" Slaking: "oh well, next one's the charm."
The feels at 17:35.... Man that video like sparked my memories as a child it was so freaking nostalgic I remember pokemon since I could remember. Right in my feels man .
Fun fact: Since Eternamax Eternatus is allowed and physical attackers are more popular, if it had 240+ Def it would win against every single Physical attacker, since it would only take 1% damage due to defense overflow.
Sad to see Shedinja only at #677 with a lower win-to-lose ration. I expected it to be much higher considering its ability and many Pokémon simply not having anything to hit it with.
Unfortunately, I think bug is probably the worst typing to combo with the ability. Way too many mons can learn some random flying or fire move, not to mention shit like Toxic or Will-o-wisp being kinda prevalent.
The reason Shedinja is *kinda* viable in pro play is because you know how to use it against a good matchup, and usually the pool of meta pokemons are severely limited. When we're talking about battling every single other pokemon, given good coverage moves, then he falls off.
That last shot with the camera on the roof is pure cinema. Great video and all, but I enjoyed just looking at that shot so much and I was sad when the video ended so quick. You must use it again.
Zacian, Zamazenta and propably any Steel/Fairy like Tinkaton. I think the Eternatus boss battle has it only have STAB moves (poison dragon) and with those it literally can not hit Tinkaton (or other Fairy/Steel) for any damage at all.
@GamePandaXXL but in the boss battle it has flamethrower and recover also if we were to take its best move set it would have something else beside dragon and Poison moves
@GamePandaXXL yeah I get that but it's not going to go down at all since it's hp stat is 255 its def is 250 spdef is also 250 and it's attacking with spatk of 125 that's not something that's to be taken easily
The fact that Mega Ampharos got 5th best mega only being beat by both Mewtwo's, Gyarados, and Rayquaza, is surprising. I love it when unexpected Pokémon do well, especially when it is one of my favorites.
“There may be tampering with the results” Yeah if a decent mega and a powerful legendary Pokémon are in the bottom, I would consider redoing the entire thing
I know this is a fun list and all but the more I look at the list the more I wonder wtf happened with some of the pokemon. Abra is higher than alakazam AND mega-alakazam?
It's hilarious how the top 2 strongest obtainable pokemon are straight up given to you at the start of their respective games (of course you have to unlock their true power at the end but still 💀)
In regards to Miraidon you said "Why did they think this was fair???" and to that I just turn and point at the cutscene where it refuses to die and becomes unbelievably broken in the final cutscene because plot armor. You can't even intentionally fail, iirc.
Gen 8 won - Starters (#1 Cinderace, with #2 Inteleon and #5 Rillaboom) - Legendary (Emax Eternatus) - Overall (Emax Eternatus) Then you have Koraidon and Miraidon that are supposed to be the past/future versions of just a normal Pokemon like Cyclizar, that beat literal sky god (Mega Rayquaza). The powercreep is scary. What's next? Gen 10 rodent Pokemon stronger than Eternatus? 😂
What would Deoxys be at? I remember seeing the difference between Ruby / Sapphire (200-300) and ORAS (500-600+) stats, and it was surprising as hell Speed form in ORAS was higher than Mega Rayquaza. Its attack and special attack stats were still in the 200-400.
Ultra Necrozma only surprised me because i completely forgot the totem boost mechanic in gen 7... But really, UN was only scary because it was a powerful legendary, born with an omniboost, good ability and decent coverage in the form it has when the player has to fight it, meaning it could OHKO most of your pokemon if you didn't have an answer for it in a blind playthrough. The competetive version is nerfed a lot by not getting the totem boost, and most pokemon have an answer to powerful dragons and psychic types today...
The fact that with enough luck, even weak Pokemon can beat some of the strongest Pokemon is kinda cool... Like, it did probably take a miracle and only worked because there were so many battles.... but still....

Rampardos looks so beastly! He's far more menacing than even most of the pseudolegends in aesthetics!
What’s that aerodactyl looking pokemon in the top 5 fossils? haven’t played in forever but he was my favorite, glad some of the pokemon still looked familiar
@@Chimeraeateverything You've said a major clue already! I'm sure you can guess (:
At least, Rampardos is well-suited for battles like this.
It's a pure 1v1. Rampardos sucks normally because he's way too fragile to be of use for anything except head smashing something into oblivion, then getting revenge-killed.
Here though, he just needs to head smash something into oblivion.
bastiodon enjoyers rise up!!! 😎🫡
I don’t play Pokémon anymore but the production of this video made it very very watchable. Great job

5:15 love the transition from "greninja didn't have protean" to "libero is amazing, the best ability obviously cinderace was 1st"
Fuck Greninja
I audibly cheered at this. My boy.
17:35 Haxorus was done so dirty after getting into the top 20 of all time. Just chilling, naming box legends then saying "eh, what's the other guy" "Breaking into the top 20" completely skipping #20 that being freaking Haxorus of all things
Edit: Just realized regular Diancie was even disqualified, officially not just getting the spotlight in the video but also stealing the #19 spot from the bug looking dragon fellow
Is there a full 1-1089 list anywhere? My entirely functional brain really wants to gawp at it 😂
I just wanted to see where snom was placed
Same
I'm more curious on the best and worst of each type, he skipped over steel, ice, psychic, ground, rock, and poison
Check the description y'all
Woohoo, Rhydon beat Rhyperior! Eviolite beats Protector and Weakness Policy.
so objectivly miraidon is the strongest PLAYABLE pokemon 22:12
You cant base this list off objectivity, the simulated AI definitely messed up bad (or Frank's manual sets were just bad) in a lot of places after looking at the list closer as some of the pokemon high/low on the list I cant even fathom being in those spots.
Although Miraidon did win a recent official regional tournament so there is that
@@Rubenlostitbut you can because the simulations the same for every pokemon so each pokemon is equally as bad as playing
@@Rubenlostitmiraidon also won the world championship
@@EndersandYT I imagine that for ones where more advanced strategy is needed, the bad playing has a much more extreme effect.
@jaydenraynor391 for some that rely on a specific move or ability maybe but overall it's equally fair
21:45 BREAKING NEWS: grass is green
Greninja would have won starters if he wasn't nerfed, if he got 12 with no ability, he can absolutely win
And It’s HA is basically libero
@@aaeinstein200libero is basically protean*
Greninja took that easily
@@aaeinstein200put respect on proteans name
Greninja fans always be like this lol. Hating everything doesn't put it in #1. The truth is it was too weak even before the nerf. His rank would be higher, yes, but not even in the top 3.
@@켄지yeah with infernape barely top 3 no chance greninja beats him
How did "competitive move sets" include curse Spectrier... Has to be a meme
@@theluchakabuto5206 he mentioned that he adapted some of the movesets (like removing all stealth rocks), i suppose this is only for content
100% this
Absolutely. Maybe he could also add those forms he skipped for one reason or the other like AshGreninja.
Ice coming in at 4 for overall ranking was the most shocking thing to me.
"I tweaked some of the movesets to be viable in 1v1s"
"Also I left Curse on Spectrier for some reason"
Believe it or not, Spectrier is Legal in Smogon 1v1s, so you actually could've gone to the 1v1 metagame thread and found this exact set from a sample team:
Spectrier @ Life Orb
Ability: Grim Neigh
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 4 HP / 140 Def / 164 SpA / 200 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hyper Beam
- Hex
- Will-O-Wisp
- Calm Mind
This is how you make a Spectrier for 1v1s lol
Absolute menace
Thank you, this was bugging me so much. Like I enjoyed the video for the most part but how am I supposed to believe that Spectrier is ever supposed to run curse AND place lower than every single first stage starter in pokemon
I mean yeah but in his defense keeping an eye on 1000+ pokemon would be pretty tricky and a LOT of work.
Also it's a meme video, it's just not that serious and if some Pokemons get the shaft in the process then it is what it is.
@@miserable_mump9687 He just made a mistake. It happens when you're dealing with literally 1000+ Pokemon
@@AstroidmaniaVideosplease do break it down further! I'd love to see it
@@AstroidmaniaVideosno i want to see if it would lose with its set that makes its defense 0 making it only ever take one damage unless with outside attacking damage like status moves i would have to assume nothing is beating it

dude the acting on this video was hilarious and and point, amazing!
What the hell it's the undertale guy!
This was a very interesting video. Reviews where the content creator is speaking directly to the audience often are a chore to watch but Asteroid creativity in integrating cutaways to side comments/thoughts and product commercials are amusing and whimsical but engaging as well
A Gen 3 pokemon being the strongest non-legendary is insane, the power creep just doesn't affect Slaking I guess.
power creep: "Hey, Slaking, MOVE!"
Slaking: "nah, too lazy... give me another generation or two..."
power creep: "You've been saying that since Gen 3!"
Slaking: "oh well, next one's the charm."
Hi patterz.
Blow up this comment so pat sees this

Hey Pat
The feels at 17:35.... Man that video like sparked my memories as a child it was so freaking nostalgic I remember pokemon since I could remember. Right in my feels man .
Fun fact: Since Eternamax Eternatus is allowed and physical attackers are more popular, if it had 240+ Def it would win against every single Physical attacker, since it would only take 1% damage due to defense overflow.
this editing is just beautiful like i don’t even understand how it just makes me feel so comforted
Questions I have after a few seconds:
Is it Shedinja?
Do you test all combinations of attacks? Natures? Abilities? Forms? Sex? Hold items?
Sad to see Shedinja only at #677 with a lower win-to-lose ration. I expected it to be much higher considering its ability and many Pokémon simply not having anything to hit it with.
There is a high chance it got stalled out into Struggle, which instantly snaps its neck
@@omnibeta1876 Doesn't it run Swords Dance a lot?
Unfortunately, I think bug is probably the worst typing to combo with the ability. Way too many mons can learn some random flying or fire move, not to mention shit like Toxic or Will-o-wisp being kinda prevalent.
@@Polzemanden Guess Curse beats it.
Seeing victini get ranked so high feeds my soul just right
Wait so Eternamax lost 70 times but to who did this thing lose to??
God
Zacian, Zamazenta and propably any Steel/Fairy like Tinkaton. I think the Eternatus boss battle has it only have STAB moves (poison dragon) and with those it literally can not hit Tinkaton (or other Fairy/Steel) for any damage at all.
@GamePandaXXL but in the boss battle it has flamethrower and recover also if we were to take its best move set it would have something else beside dragon and Poison moves
@@BlueStr1ke yeah but if you cant use any STAB moves against creatures that hit you for super effective stab youre still at super bad odds
Before watching the video, I'm going to predict that Shedinja does really well just because of how many Pokemon can't hit it at all.
It got rank 677, which is kinda mid.
I thought I was so smart picking Shedinja for a top 25 placement and then I look at the list and ITS 677 THATS NOT EVEN IN THE TOP HALF 😭
The “back to you frank” *pause* “thanks frank” got me rollin 😂
First time seeing your video, and your edits, comedic timing and just production is really top notch and funny without being too much.
“There may be tampering with the results”
Yeah if a decent mega and a powerful legendary Pokémon are in the bottom, I would consider redoing the entire thing
I know this is a fun list and all but the more I look at the list the more I wonder wtf happened with some of the pokemon. Abra is higher than alakazam AND mega-alakazam?
I genuinely love how you give some of the highest quality Pokemon content there is
Oh, and you actually got me to watch the sponsor. I knew I was in for a treat when you rolled out the greenscreen.
It's hilarious how the top 2 strongest obtainable pokemon are straight up given to you at the start of their respective games (of course you have to unlock their true power at the end but still 💀)
I am shocked that Meloetta did so well. Shocked in a good way, though - it's my favourite Pokémon!
Garchomp and Slaking both making into top 50 is so impressive
Franky we ain’t forget about the Olive Garden breadsticks we need it
I was really wondering how the pacing of the video would be with all of this data and you absolutely crushed it Frank! Good stuff 👌
This was surprisingly fun to watch, and it had mostly to do with presentation.
In regards to Miraidon you said "Why did they think this was fair???" and to that I just turn and point at the cutscene where it refuses to die and becomes unbelievably broken in the final cutscene because plot armor. You can't even intentionally fail, iirc.
The fact that you had spectrier bottom five kind of kills this whole simulation
Bro we need this to be a sport, one tournament each year
And then you live stream or post the fights everyday of the year, let me know if you need help planning it lol I wanna be a part of this
Gen 8 won
- Starters (#1 Cinderace, with #2 Inteleon and #5 Rillaboom)
- Legendary (Emax Eternatus)
- Overall (Emax Eternatus)
Then you have Koraidon and Miraidon that are supposed to be the past/future versions of just a normal Pokemon like Cyclizar, that beat literal sky god (Mega Rayquaza).
The powercreep is scary. What's next? Gen 10 rodent Pokemon stronger than Eternatus? 😂
I swear I spent a solid half of the ad section trying to figure out if it was an actual ad or a very elaborate skit preparing for a crazy punchline🤣
17:15 didn’t expect to shed a tear watching this video
I never experienced more joy than when you said “Palkia is better”. Palkia is my favorite Pokémon and was my first legendary.
19:10 arcues would be number 1 if you gave him his special item
What would Deoxys be at?
I remember seeing the difference between Ruby / Sapphire (200-300)
and ORAS (500-600+) stats, and it was surprising as hell
Speed form in ORAS was higher than Mega Rayquaza.
True
Also, they removed its item (both the type change from preferably Dusk Mane, and the overpowered Z-Move).
Dude! You have to stop being so dang entertaining! I’m awkwardly smiling at my screen whenever you hit a quip 😂
I can't believe my favorite starter Pokemon is the strongest starter Pokemon
The fact that with enough luck, even weak Pokemon can beat some of the strongest Pokemon is kinda cool...
Like, it did probably take a miracle and only worked because there were so many battles.... but still....
