I recently got my hands a hold of this exact model and color. Must say it's an awesome car to be driving, everyone tells me to drop after market parts on it and tune it up to street race, that's like a slap in the face to me. Car is perfect how it is, just need to fix the heater box and then I can defrost my windows again!
I still have dreams about driving my 86 Celica GTS...its weird. Like there is some kind of soul to it. Took it up to 220km/h once...red lining at 7kRpm...it rounded those corners easily. Like... this car felt like it could handle the speed without exploding. I don't know...why is it that I still have pleasant dreams about driving this car...I don't have dreams about driving any other vehicle. Everything felt right...it was comfortable, along with the lumbar and side torso adjustments...like it was meant for racing, but it was a street car..yet...everything felt like it was made for driving perfectly.
Lol @ Tyler dude below. this car was the best handling fwd car before the integra type r showed up. tons of torque, revs to 7.2k, variable intake, and that power bucket 8way seat with adjustable side bolsters was amazing to have. forget the Hondas of the late 80s, this car was "faster" in a straight line, corner, rally, autox, and of course your quarter mile.
That is incredibly clean. My first car was an '86 GT-S coupe with around 115K. Later on I owned an Alltrac in considerably poorer shape until I had to sell it on. Several years later I'm now coming full circle and am picking up another Alltrac, this time with, ironically enough, only 33K on it from the second owner. It's like a piece of my childhood has somehow returned.
I just purchased this car yesterday, it has 46k on it now, sadly the gentleman that has owned it for the past few years got into an accident with it. Hopefully It can be fixed. Car is absolutely pristine other than the passenger rear quarter.
I don't get it. This is an extremely pretty car and one of the earliest examples of an "aero" car, coming out the same year as the Ford Taurus. Why don't more people like this?
How much should i buy a red 1987 gt convertible for? It's in good condition and the guy i may buy it from is asking $1800. Has 120k miles on it. Do you think it'll last much longer?
I've had this car for 17 years. The only problem is that the paint wears off like all 80's paint. Other than that everything is fine. The AC unite line sometimes cuts off but that is okay, just open the window.
Off Course Not & We knew that Already the Turbo'd 4wdriver wrc trimmed car has Way more obvious Styling Cues than a Simple gts OEM Appearence cladding package, Simple Rocker Skirts,Plastic front air dam, Meaner looking rear deck lid wing etc etc, & don't know Why you even Put the Alltrac in the Title these cars are Totally Different Animals even to this very day. that's like saying l have a berlinetta V6 camaro & it's Not a IROC\Z28 Player's edition CANAM SCCA Trans Am Series Numbered car.
I know where l can & very well get a 1 Owner No Winters/Salt Garaged Queen 87 GTS 3 Door Hatch coupe 3 pedal car with a OEM Rebuilt engine with 20K on the Clock For Way less that money Grab price. & l'm not Devulging it either it's All mine. & it Comes with Ton's of Thrown in Forged Aluminum New Wheel's & New French Summer Tire's & even the Factory issued Key's 2 in fact.

Oh God, that red. My brother had an 87 Corolla SR-5 and I had a 90 Corolla in the same colour. That car look hot even today!

I had this same body in silver with the all trac. I miss driving it.. $8,600 is 2k over even in 2017 in my opinion but still a cool car.
