Did Tariq St Patrick Really Earn The Name Ghost?

- During Power Book 2 Ghost's End Episode 10. We saw Tariq St Patrick reach the pinnacle of the drug trade in New York and in essence take his father's, James St Patrick's infamous name 'GHOST' .. Everyone was wondering, why was Power Book 2 Ghost, called Ghost? Was it to do with the return of Power's fan favorite in James St Patrick, the Ghost man himself, or was it to do with Tariq's origin story and him earning the name Ghost? In this breakdown for Power Ghost Season 4 Episode 10, I run through Tariq's story arc in Ghost Season 4 and whether or not I believe Tariq has truly earned the name of Ghost, which I don't. I also run through who I think is worthy enough to give him the name, how and why. Which in my opinion, could be in a future Power spin off in the power universe.

Hell no. Ghost MADE power and OG Power is WAYYY better than all of these spin offs. Ghost was also an action star. Tariq would be the first action "star" to lose all his fights. Like Tariq said - he's nothing like his father, he's nothing like Ghost.
I can give Tariq props for learning from his dads mistakes, but he will never exceed the level his father was on. Ghost’s rep is doing him favours such as his meet with Zion as he stated he only took the meeting cus of his last name

The writers have to make every other character dumb so riq can look good ghost didn't need that he was great and actually smart and intimidating
Tariq has the feds gunning for him at 22 whereas Ghost was literally 3 moves ahead of them at that age. He never cut Tommy off because Tommy was him in the streets and the reason why Ghost was respected and feared.

The issue with this show is that everything that happens in later seasons undermines previous episodes.
The show is shxt now if we are being honest. I would give the last season 4/10, strongly leaning towards 3 rather than 5.
I hate how people keep saying Ghost's downfall was trying to Live a Double Life etc... How.??? He literally Succeeded in Both.... he was Killed by his Naive Ungrateful Son under the Influence of his HoodRat Wife.. his Downfall was completely separate from his "Double Life"..

I’d say Tariq still has some work to do before fully earning the nickname "Ghost." He’s made some moves that echo his father’s legacy, outsmarting enemies, manipulating situations, and proving he can be just as ruthless. But Ghost was a different level, a master at controlling every angle. Tariq’s growing into that role, but he’s not there yet. The nickname might fit in spirit, but the mastery that made Ghost who he was? Tariq still needs time to fully claim that.

Courtney was determined to erase Omari and anoint Michael Rainy Jr. she had to create a fictional version to the word that you can get over in the drug game and retire a drug dealer. This is never and will never be a reality. In the world of entertainment you can create the fantasy and narratives you want. He don’t even look right playing a gangsta but it make sense why they had to end this because they wouldn’t be able to continue this storyline with Micheal Rainy looking very weak with fighting and living in the his father shadow. Courtney Kemp knew when to bow out.

Tariq is better than Ghost when ghost was 20. With age comes experience so I would say end of power GHOST is still way better than current Tariq.

In my opinion I feel like they’ve kinda done book 2 in reverse I feel like the storyline should of been way less crazy in terms of tariqs rise to the top of the drug world. 20 year old being on top and NYC biggest dealer wasn’t needed, they had the college storyline and it could of had a war witb a rival younger street gang like GTG for a good two seasons and would of been fun to watch tariq go up against someone of similar age and watch him build a crew and lose people close to him.
Once we see James St. Patrick's origins story then we can see if Riq earned the name GHOST

If Ghost had made the same and as many mistakes as Riq coming up. Breeze and/or Kanan would have ushered him out the game, permanently. He never came close to earning the title. Everyone who knew Ghost when he was younger said he was book and street smart. We know he had hands early on because he helped Tommy out when he showed up on the block. Then, “Never saw him coming… Never saw him going…” We have all seen and saw Riq, constantly. This is not about Ghost was 40 and he is still young. This is about common sense and things adding up writing wise. The only Cred he had was off his father’s name. Lost his day one because a “ni$$a don’t know how to treat a friend”. That warehouse scene sums up Riq’s career. I can’t even suspend my disbelief to make it, make sense.

Dudes are talking about Tariq like he lost. The dude played Chess against some masters these past few seasons and won. He didn't need to be a good fighter, he was Great Thinker. Dude was a nerd who outsmarted true gangstas. And that's what keeps guys like him alive and ahead of everyone else. To me he was more Michael Corleone than Sonny. Sonny could fight and that was his go to and it got him killed in the end. Michael waited patiently to take out his enemies using a brilliant plan. That's what Tariq did... Not every villian needs to be the toughest but the best villains are always the smartest. Tariq outsmarted everyone and was able to become a Ghost in his operation. To me that's a gangsta. Like Kanan told James, the boy is cold. And he's proven that multiple times.

As an avid fan and watcher of all things power, ghost is one of the best characters of all time, but you all give him way too many passes. Killing the drunk driver-sloppy, letting Dre punk him at Raina's gravesite-weak, paying Jason every week so Jason wouldn't kill him-weak, leaving the fingerprints at Greg's apartment-kinda sloppy, he set Milan up to be gift wrapped to the feds, ghost is a 🐐, but he wasn't perfect either

Ghost was successful cause nobody knew James St Patrick was Ghost. Tariq been on FBIs radar since he started in the game (mainly due to him & parents actions). So nah, he didnt earn it.
If Tariq had of brought Tate in instead of Nico it would have ended with Carter unalive instead of in prison. And that would have been an easier way out for a dirty cop. IMO.
