    If mancading is unsportsmanlike then then batsman leaving the crease is also illegal. Batmans leaves crease to get the advantage of avoid running out.

    I have a question which is not related to this video.
    When A right arm bowler starts his bowling and suddenly changes the ball to his left arm and bowls it. This case umpire might turn it into no ball.
    But when a right arm batsman suddenly changes into left arm batsman and this is called a switch hit and this is valid.
    WTF is this??

    • @TheCricketDigest
      @TheCricketDigest  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Simple logic behind this is, batting needs much more concentration than bowling. There are a lot of things to be considered while batting unlike bowling. This was much debated when Kevin Pietersen started playing the switch hit regularly.
      You can read the below article to get more clarity.
      www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=10628790

      @flamingfrancis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheCricketDigest The term"switch hitting" is one directly from baseball (much like many other terms are) . MLB hitters of elite calibre can hit equally strongly from both sides of home plate. Batting statistics are compiled based on which side the batter hits from. There are scenarios where the field manager will use a (legitimate) pinch hitter also. What is called a pinch hitter in cricket defies the original use of the term given it involves the outright replacement of one of the originally advised batting order.
      But there is a significant difference and as a cricketing person I believe it should be brought into cricket to eliminate what I see as a form of cheating by a batsman when he changes as the ball is bowled. Baseball has a batting box on either side of home plate and the batter must take his stance in the box before the pither starts his delivery. Prolem solved for cricket batsman and no advantage is gained.

    No doubt butler was out and that within the law..
    But if we notice when ashwin stopped Butler's bat was in the crease...
    Butler was expecting a normal time delivery.. if ashwin would had bowled that delivery than i don't think there was any problem ( means bat would have been in the crease).
    Butler's only fault was that he wasn't watching the bowler..
    Here is my question to u sir,
    Isn't it unfair to non striker batsman, that he have to watch first bowler and than batsman striking the ball..
    Where he gets split second less tilo react to a run or a shot coming towards him...
    What's ur view on this and how should a batsman tackle with it ????

    • @darthvader3535
      @darthvader3535 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Read the definition. 'To the instant when the bowler would normally have been expected to release the ball'. When ashwin in between his run up,butler was in the crease. Butler anticipated he would release the ball in a fraction and he moved forward like anyone would. But ashwin stopped and let him cross the crease. That's against cricket law right correct me if I am wrong

      Tempers are frayed, allegations are made, motives are assigned, voices are shouted down and everyone is in a tizzy. You would think someone had been assaulted, swindled or waylaid. And, in a manner of speaking, you wouldn't be wrong because we are talking about the spirit of our game, that wonderfully fuzzy, subjective thing that everyone defines differently.
      So, should Ashwin have run Buttler out? Should Buttler have been more vigilant? Was Ashwin devious and Buttler robbed? Was Ashwin clever and Buttler defeated? Did Ashwin violate the spirit of the game? Ah, the spirit of the game! It is something so dear to cricket lovers that there is actually a preamble to the laws of cricket that specifically addresses this. It talks about respect, towards teammates and opponents and the umpires; it talks about playing hard and fair and accepting the umpire's decision, about creating a positive atmosphere through each player's conduct. And more on those lines.
      But can the spirit of the game be at variance with the laws of the game? Since both are drafted by the same entity, you would assume that playing within the laws of the game would assume you are playing in the spirit of the game. So when Ashwin ran Buttler out, was he within the laws of the game? And within its spirit?
      If the two are in conflict, as it seems here in the eyes of many, the laws must take precedence. In recent times, running a player out for backing up too far at the bowler's end has been studied by the law makers. And not a moment too soon. Far too many batsmen were abusing the convention that you don't run a player out by drifting, often intentionally, out of the crease thereby running less than needed to complete a run. Where run-outs, and team fortunes, are decided by millimetres conceding six inches or a foot to the non-striker made no sense.
      And so the revised Law 41.16 says that the non-striker must stay within the crease till such time as the bowler is expected to deliver the ball. This is where a lot of the debate has centred. Ashwin says he hadn't loaded up in his action, others say he had crossed the point when he would be expected to release the ball and that, at that point, Buttler was still within the crease. Maybe anticipating that, the law-makers also said that 'If you do not want to risk being run-out, stay within your ground until the bowler has released the ball".

      I think that's the right thing to decide what is right...
      If the batsman is out and then it is known that he was no ball then why would not it be that the batsman should be given out and giving the batsman the warning and it does not happen when the ball is bowled and the mankads have the right of the bowler. You can not put pressure on him that he will give you Warning. It depends on his desire. We have become so accustomed to seeing the batting of batsmen that no one has thought of it from the bowler. Minister wants is coming I do not know if the rule is true out to be wrong ... Are you agree 👍👍👍

    I would like some clarification about the law 41.16, i.e. Mankad. What if the bowler fails to run out the no-striker runner? We have two situations:
    A) No-striker manages to be back in touch with his ground and then the bowler drops the wicket, in this case I think this is a no-ball under law 21.6, right?
    B) No-striker manages to be back in touch with his ground and then the bowler doesn't drop the wicket, but he stops however because he saw the no-striker came back, what is this?

    Ashwin's act was perfect and in fact every cricketer should emulate Ashwin. He faithfully and judiciously executed the provision of the rules of Cricket. Butler's illegal stepping out of the crease to score runs is an absolute violation of the game of cricket. To prevent such action the rule was enacted It has a merit. Ashwin to be complemented and Butler to be condemned. No sense in talking gentlemen vs ungentle men. Hats off Ashwin!!!

    Also pervious ball already given warning by umpire to the same non-striker bastmen.

    Question: If the bowler accidentally/unintentionally breaks the stumps with 1) his hand and 2) his legs or any other part of the body while the non striker is out of his crease and goes on to deliver the ball, what will be the umpire's decision?

    • @TheCricketDigest
      @TheCricketDigest  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1) If the bowler breaks the wicket by the hand in which he is holding the ball then the batsman will be given out on appeal. Whether it is accidental or not doesn't matter. All it matters is if there is an appeal made or not. If there is an appeal made by the bowling team then the batsman will be given out. If there is no appeal has been made then there is no harm and the batsman can continue playing.
      2) If the bowler breaks the wicket by any other part of his body and goes on to deliver the ball, then it will be called a no-ball. If breaks the wicket and doesn't deliver the ball then it will be called a dead ball.

    If a Bowler steps even a micrometer over the popping crease, he is penalized with a No-Ball. So why shouldn't the batsman be penalized for leaving the crease early, and trying to get an unfair advantage? I honestly think the only people that complain about this law are people that have been caught by it in the past.

      BCCI not allowed now-retired players to play foreign T20 league
      But, some case BCCI allowed to play charity matches
      BCCI make this rule because they force senior cricketers to play domestic cricket. It help our youngsters.
      Rest of cricket board can't invest huge money like BCCI that's why in some case they give NOC to play some foreign T20 League.
      PCB allowed any of 2 T20 League
      ECB allowed when no cricket left before 15 days of international cricket

      Max 8 foreigners can includes in every franchise. Doesn't matter they Aussies or not. West Indies and Australia have many T20 players that's why most overseas players are from these WICA & CA

    In baseball, and of course this is not baseball, running out the non striker is similar to the "balk" and there are penalties, if I am understanding cricket correctly. The issue is when play starts, and at the start of play, both teams should have equal chance.

      That's the thing! But we often saw even the analysts also mention it that mankading is against the sporting spirit... It tend to set a negative example for young generation. But from my personal viewpoint, I don't find it that nonsporty... As a batsman leaving the crease prior to release of a delivery is himself violating the law.

      Yes it is. By leaving the crease early, the non-striker is gaining an unfair advantage. If he wants to gain the momentum then he can start from little behind so that he is not out of the crease before the ball is released.
