I'm the kind of guy who would take one look at this thing, toss it in the trash, and go buy a new one. My thinking is 'that's a whole lot of work for something that's not a classic car or a major investment.' However, because I know I'm like that, I have the utmost respect and admiration for someone who has the fortitude to take the time to restore and even improve something that most people might not consider all that significant. If it weren't for people like Mr. Tartaglia, we'd likely have little reference to the past, and little improvements for the future. I get a warm feeling when I walk into some historic home and see a 150 year old manual sewing machine sitting in the corner, looking like it was just purchased brand new yesterday. That's because of the will, determination and hard work of people like Mr. Tartaglia. Well done, Sir. Quite impressive!

Not so sure about your motor shaft adapter! I think it will slip up in more stressful conditions! It should have a flat spot for the screw to wedge in!
