I like the idea of keeping littles and significant other on the opposite side of us from potential danger. I kinda so that naturally but also try to let them find danger safely on their own so they can really learn about that through their own experiences yet never allowing them to put themselves into situations where they're really at risk- like in the traffic side of the walk, etc. Good video. I'd like to hear more about operational tactics for safely and effectively managing groups of littles during activities like a trip to the zoo, Park, markets, mountains, etc.

EXCELLENT points. Thank you for bringing them to the forefront. I would like to think most people already know this, but for me i find that as I listen to someone (such as yourself) I will think yeah I know that. I do but it gets pushed to the back of your mind. It isn't until someone is talking that we are jolted and what we know comes to the forefront again. I think what I need is a way to take what I know, practice it (as you say) then when we are out even though it may be in the back of the mind its been practiced so we do this without thinking. Thank you again Would like it if you can maybe make a few more videos on this topic to help me at the least figure out how to work subconsciously.

Great video!!! As a veteran and father of 2 young daughters, I love quizzing them as we are out and about. What would you do if that guy grabbed you, …if this place caught on fire, etc. Helps keep me on point too!

Good video to the people out there it’s all about common sense pay attention. You can put your cell phone away if it’s not an emergency waiting on a phone call put it away. Have some of these apps that can dial 911 with your location on your phone, teach your kids as well if you’re waiting for the school bus stay off your phone if you’re riding a subways in large cities like NY, stay off your phone teach your kids to stay off the phone and pay attention.

Funny, it's called situation awareness now but growing up in tuff neighborhoods in NJ back in the 80s and 90s it was just called being awake. Reminds me of the Batman move when Bane tells Batman he merely adopted the dark but Bane was born in it. Lots of people adopted violence and some were born in it. 🙂

I totally agree!! We were raised to keep our head on a swivel. That’s all we know. I also believe it is our responsibility to teach and mentor the individuals that are still sleep. Thanks for the feedback!!🙏🏽🙏🏽

@torreyprather803 I totally agree but to a point. There are wolves, there are sheep, and there are the dogs the shepherd brings to protect the sheep. The dogs and the wolves know what's what. But the sheep will always be sheep. You're doing a good job of informing people. I think its great. Just don't get frustrated when sheep do sheep things. 😁

A great instructional video on Situational Awareness. Here's my basic (to the point) philosophy on situational awareness: Now this basically applies to when you happen to be outside or in public somewhere,, (not while inside the safely locked doors of your home). But anyway,,, try and grasp the overall BIG picture of everything happening all around you. Make note of the "body languages" of everyone within close proximity of you. (1) Is there anyone who appears he/she may be extra "angry" over something by chance? (2) Is there any individual who happens to be exhibiting rather bizarre (idyosynchrosy affected) behavior? (3) Are there any scene of 2 individuals appearing in a heated argument with each other? (4) Is there any individual who appears to be dressed in bizarre fashion,, such as wearing dark sunglasses while indoors? (5) Is there any individual who appears to be wearing an unusual looking backpack? (6) Is there any individual who happens to be (say) pacing back and forth a lot and staring intently at you,, at some individual,, or perhaps at an employee of the place? (7) Is there any individual inside who appears to be recording with a cell phone,, or some other recording devce? (8) Is there any individual inside who happens to be NOT fully dressed,,, or wearing rather bizarre clothing? (9) Is there an individual who appears to be extra HYPER,, or paranoid over something? Then after you size things up regarding your immediate environment,, you need to ask yourself: "Just what are ALL the possible things that could happen inside here,,, good,, neutral AND disasterous?" THENnnnnn you need to decide what is the best and most appropriate action for YOU to take. Do you calmly stay put,,,,,, do you go and alert an employee of the place,,,, or do you perhaps,,, hightail it out of the place as soon as you safely can??? Yes,, these are all "Situational Awareness" factors.

Any time my 4 kids are moving from the car into a store or visa versa I say “eyes up”. They know that means their heads need to be on a swivel searching their environment. Theoretically the process will stick with them without the verbal que.

When I go into a restaurant I always sit facing the door. That way I can see who's coming in and who's going out

You take a wide angle to the left to look to the right, but if the bad guys are to the left they got ya. There’s a better way but takes too many words no one will read.
