you completely ignore the fact that the knightly spirit increases both his patk and matk. so while he is in rage outburst it actually deals alot more damage than warm touch when atking in front. esp good against boss battle
This is a good point! Pinning this for exposure. I think it would depend tho. Against high HP enemies, piercing 15% current HP damage might be huge. But some enemies might also be immune to piercing damage. And as you said, against bosses, Knightly spirit is most likely the better choice.
@@LockeD_wotv yeah, the 15% hp is good for aoe build cause it only trigger once per turn per enemy, and not good on boss battle, but knightly spirit will have huge advantage esp when august has multiple damage source in a single turn.
@bboygwapo6898 warm touch can only be used 1 per round. Is the entire game considered 1 round? Then this skill is really useless if I vacant only use once per game.
@joeaaaa I can tell per round and per game. But what I do not know is the dev definition of "per round". Because ever single character only get 1 turn(typically) per round, doesnt that also mean "per turn" = "per round". So why using both statements which have the same meaning? Hence I just want to verify if the dev definition of "per round" = "per round of game" aka "per game"
Enjoying the content as always Locke. I pulled Leonide, Nergal, Nungal, then Auguste, took 114 pulls. All new units and the deepest I have had to go on a debut yet. Now I have all types of new units to play with. Your Nungal vid was really helpful.
@@LockeD_wotv he does seem pretty decent. I am going to hold off on investing until I get another fancy hat, but once I do, he will get built. Gives me some time to research. His knockback passive can do some silly stuff, including cover tanking into a melee attack, preempt knockback, and causing the enemy to lose a turn. No idea if Nergal will get built at this time. Since I don’t have to pull for a month, maybe I’ll get the common XP to level him.
I have been using The Rays of the Sun tarot instead of the Magician. Since Auguste is doing multiple area attacks on a single turn, enemies are usually going to hit that injury stage. Making end-game enemies much easier to kill with their high defense. This is pairing with the Warming Touch to get that injury much faster. For the engravings, I went with Wand+wand. Reasoning: Auguste needs to be at the front dishing out damage. With his combo, you will most likely get the +def, +atk and most importantly +mov. This enables him to be a semi-tank while getting that rage from Contempt. On my test, once Auguste has engaged the enemy, he rarely moves around because of its low movement speed and the lack of positional range skill. He prefers to stay put where he already has the advantage.
I personally don't like rays of the sun much because I don't think defense penetration is very effective. He already applies PDEF down 2 from his skill set, and there could be other debuffs on the boss like vulnerability down. I think 16% extra damage (Magician without extra targets) will usually have higher overall damage than 40% defense penetration. I have been trying out wand + wand. Mixed reactions so far which I like better!
Great discussion. I am still conflicted. I feel like he will be a boss nuke in my roster so the support skill seems like it will be a waste once I get him to 4 stars. From what I understand boss fights in the future don’t go past the initial nuke of the boss utilizing units like homa to support an Auguste bomb. So trying to preserve castelia’s as best I can.
For those combos you mentioned, a 4 star Auguste can hit those combos if you pair him with Gloria and have her use her skill "Longinus - Brilliance" for 1 extra nrg. I assume a lot of players have her as well so they would probably be paired on most team comps because of Gloria's union buff as you mention later on in the video. She is also faster than him so that also helps.
I was thinking about this further, and even with Gloria he cannot hit that combo at 4-star. He only has a max of 5 NRG, gloria cannot increase that cap. So if he uses his two wrath abilities, he is -2 NRG, -1 NRG = 2 NRG remaining. He recoveres one NRG from 4-star trait and is left at 3 NRG. His devastation skill costs 4 NRG and there is no way to cast it because Gloria (or any other character) can't take a turn in between. He can only do the 2 wrath attacks then devastation at 5-star.
The reason strengh activation is sometimes recommended is because of ToA. Basically it lets him self buff for free using Warm Touch, which can be good if you cant buff him externally before his first turn, or if said support can use its turn for something else valuable You do not care about the rage stacks from reaction in that instance because ToA is all about bursting since turn count decides the ranking, and it typically wont lead to triggering an extra outburst before turn 3-4
Great job locke, your effort can be seen. I like this video you made, very clear on your opinion and explanation of choice. This helps me a lot on understanding the character. I will watch some of your older videos to see if I can gain some more knowledge. I don’t have a lot of time for playing games and this give me an idea how to start and also how to experiment with the characters. 👍👍👍
i agree with pretty much everything you said, also the armor stacking is not a bug you can actually do the same with Papal guard for example! Also although a lot of the CN guys say that the strength activation skill reaction is good, i actually agree with you here that the contempt skill is better especially if you have cocoa to use the dmg 3/dmg red 3 up skill. I really think that he was meant to be a semi-tank as it just builds up rage so quickly. The only reason i could think of to take other skills is likely to do burst damage instead! I see a lot of people mentioning the 4 stars as a significant way to deal damage extremely quickly, which might be useful in ToA.
Curious who you have on your shard farming priority list that you're parking Aguste at 2*. Currently working with Gloria 4*, Cocoa 3* and Safiyyah 2*. On the waiting list is Inanna 4* and Auguste 1*. But after watching this, I might do the 2* Aguste as well. Thank you.
The magician tarot doesnt convince me, its very situational, i know half of his skills are aoe but at 0* the only aoe you will be using is his 2nd and 3rd hits from the combo and the 3rd hit cross shaped zone must be targeted on an enemy which sometimes if not most of the times there wont be another enemy in the cross to proc the magician. The magician tarot does 16% extra damage all the time, even if it is a single target attack. If there is additional targets on top of that you get even more damage. Could be really good on him, but have to get the ball rolling with a couple of kills, or maybe use summons with Acambe or Safiyyah
that warm touch skill dealing 15% aoe piercing damage seems pretty good. though hard to tell how effective it will be in hard content. I picked his nrg reducing auto attack and slightly regretting it now, might have to use a castellia >.
Before using the castellia, play around with it and see how often you use his tail attack. Also try to see and remember what skill you are using after auto attack. If it’s usually a low damage skill, then the difference between the two skills might be minimal and you can save the castellia.

yes, in the lvl 60 stage if you only use 3 units all get 3 shards. it also says how many shards can be collected (9 for lvl 60) before entering the stage.
