The fact that he even let Abby beg warmed my heart… now I'm all for obedience in your dogs whether they are working or not, but sometimes you just gotta let them be squirrely.
So happy to see Baby B becoming friendly again. It was weird to see her so skittish after she was so cuddly right after birth, but I guess at that time she just really couldn't comprehend what was going on and just went with the flow for a short time, then became kind of a normal new calf who just wanted to be with mom and the rest of the herd. You are so patient and kind with your animals and I think it will be well worth it in the long run as far as being able to handle them when you really need to without a lot of drama.
Gluten Free baking is a completely different animal from wheat-based. It's actually pretty easy to make good cookies, brownies, and even cakes, but crackers are hard and bread is super hard. Fortunately, I recently learned that my problem was never wheat (I'm not Celiac but had IBF when I ate wheat products), the problem is (most) AMERICAN wheat. Most wheat in the US is treated with glyphosate before harvest to dry it out, and then the flour is brominated as a pesticidal measure. These processes are what gives me trouble. I can eat organic wheat and even King Arthur brand with no problems. The crap added to "enriched" flour doesn't help - 49% of humans cannot metabolize folic acid, yet we add it to almost all our wheat. If you are having gut problems from bread, I suggest first switching to organic/King Arthur flour, see if that fixes it.
I found adzuki bean gluten free crackers that are really good. Boulder Canyon is the brand. I haven't needed gluten free, it was the adzuki beans in them that made me curious.
I was thinking gmo flour instead of what we had before they started messing around may also have something to do with tolerance, but what you are sharing definitely sounds like a culprit. Luckily I'm fine, but it's sad how many aren't. Thanks for the share.👍
This sounds odd to me: glyphosate is a weed killer. There's a lot of debate about how hazardous it is to humans, and in what quantities. But I never heard about "drying out" wheat using glyphosate. A reference to that exact thing would be welcome, as would the allegation about folic acid.
@@SeekingTheLoveThatGodMeans7648 I dont think they deliberately add it to flour. I think the residue remains from using it on wheat crops to kill weeds.
My wife has trouble with supermarket mass produced bread ,but fine with bread from most bakeries .Could it be something added . Hell Yeah ( Australia )
Place your rat traps along the perimeter of the fence and building. Rats are pretty blind and follow the lines of walls rarely going out in the open. Love all ur stuff!!!
@@seanmcelroy6222 I was thinking the same. Cats are good for a lot of rodents but rats, not so much. Somehow we had a rat that got into our house and our cat, a mighty little hunter usually, just gave me a look that said, "Not my problem, boss. Get a dog!" A Jack Russell would do Morgan just fine in the rat department.
Both of my dogs, Rio the blue heeler and Yogi the griffin pointer x, hunt and kill rats. I think Toby and Abby most likely would too if they had access to the weird chicken's yard.
I really like your videos. They're so peaceful and entertaining. Can't wait for the calves being born! Baby B is cute, but you can never have enough calf-cuteness! I just love seeing "broken" Abby, it's such a trusting and lovable gesture 😍
It's always so nice to see your relationship with your animals on display. Seeing Abbey turn into a full-fledged goofball farmdog with your love and support. Seeing all the cows warm up to you one by one. I love it.
Calving season is here! Looking forward to seeing all the babies in the next few months. I still can't believe the price of highland calves right now. My local auction starts back up next weekend for Easter and there's usually a handful of calves for sale. Kinda scared to see how much they'll go for at auction price. It's usually cheaper, but with the way things have been going it wouldn't surprise me if they went in the thousands.
The Abbey nest brought such sweets smiles! Loving watching how far you and Baby Bea have come! Your videos are so enjoyable! So sorry about the Veterinarian situation in your area. Many of us share your struggle.
Hey Morgan, sorry you have rats that's never a good thing. I've heard they love peanut butter so you might want to set the traps with some. The cows are looking like they are more than ready for Spring, please don't forget to video them like you did last year on the initial release, that was entertaining. Never knew cows would literally kick up their heals with excitement for some fresh green grass. Thanks for taking us along, allis well at Gold Shaw Farm.🦆🐄🐕🐓👍❤️
I love to see how far you have come from the 1st time getting your cows to now they are letting you brush them and feed them treats. Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing. I so miss farm life. Watching your videos let me live throw you..
Hi Morgan! Big fan from Perú ❤ big hugs to your lovely guardian dogs. I've seen special feeders for chickens where they get access to the feed when they put their feet/weight on some sort of pedal or platform, the birds learn to use it really fast and it could help you with that chore. Mice won't be able to get to the food 😊. It could be installed inside the hoop hoop :)
Rats and mice have a sweet tooth. Smear Nutella on the traps, and you will catch them really quick. I had a mice problem in my last house because we were close to the freeway. The exterminator told us to put the Nutella on the traps, and I kid you not within like the first 10 min of laying the traps they we snapping. On one of my traps, there were 3 dead mice. Of course, since it is chocolate, keep it away from the dogs, but overnight, you should catch them PDQ.
I get such joy out of watching your birds!!! We have some Peckins [sp.] And Muskovi near us, I love just driving by where they live and the farm where they live also has pigs, and I mean big ones like 300 lbs, Abby is loving her nest!
@GoldShawFarm I love how Abby dog helps with farm chores, I wish our dogs would help out more, they spend more time pinching cow and sheep nuts! Genuinely love watching your videos, keep up the good, hard work! ❤ Yorkshire, UK
This is my 8th week on Carnavore. I've been on 3 medications for high blood pressure. Before I was on Carnivore my blood pressue was always at 130/75 but in the last couple of weeks my bp has been going up around 145 to 150's. I also take MCT oil.
I’ve gone back to Lady Abington’s arrival on the farm & I’m watching forward. I’m almost a year behind & it’s so interesting to watch 2 springs happen on the farm side by side
The moments with Abby and Toby were so cute, it looks like you'll have to make them more naan! I don't eat gluten free foods. I love the ducks too, they are so cute and funny!
Here you go Morgan 🧻, I got a nose cup that's been shocked by our ❄️! Can you believe April will still be snow??!! Nose care is a matter of finesse!! Much love you guys!!!✌️😎👍🙏🌼🤍🕊️🕯️✨🌹🤧
Good afternoon. Here where I live, I am waiting for is Mama cows here start to drop. Here is cattle country. The nursery is across the road from me. Beautiful sight to been whole when that calf drops. 😊❤
Morgan, I know your original plan for Abby did not come to fruition, but I was just watching your two dogs on this video and how nicely they have both matured and thought how happy you must be with how it all turned out. Is there still a plan for Toby-puppies via a different route?
Oh, I also cannot eat gluten and naan is one of the things I still crave, it is so sweet you are trying to make for Allison. Gluten free baking is hard in general. It takes a lot of practice. In my experience if you are shooting for gluten free cake, you get gluten free brownies and if you're trying for gluten free brownies you get gluten free fudge. However, it can be done. It does take a lot of skill through. The animals love it either way so I hope you keep trying.
I want to cuddle with Abby in her little nest 🤗 She is so adorable!❤😍❤ How does little Beany find food and water when she loses touch with the others? I feel so sorry for her when she's all alone... 😞🥺
I was watching one of those TH-cam channels all about different animal breeds for the farm and found a really cool goose called the steinbacher( the ones that look like they got black lipstick).
Rats can be very tough fighters, so most cats would rather not deal with them. Some rats are almost as big as cats. I was blown away of the size of a packrat.
Naw Abby living her best life ❤ Those black & white ducks are so pretty! Also Baby B is adorable with all that fluffy fur 😍 Try sticking a hose pipe down the rat hole for a while, they won't wana stay down there with freezing water!
It doesn't seem safe for Bean to be outside in the current yard. Too large with too many hazards for her to run into when blind. Can she be set up in smaller safer place with a companion?
Sorry about the rat issues! Here's an easy way to deal with it and leave it out around your chickens: get a tupperware container, fill it with equal parts sugar, flour and baking soda with a sprinkle of cocoa powder. Rats and mice cannot fart-- the baking soda will expand inside them and they will explode. Ok, maybe not actually explode but you get it. It's also perfectly safe around chickens (who do fart apparently!), cats, dogs, and other farm livestock. Just not mice and rats
The first biscuits my mother made as homework for her HS foods class turned out to be so hard that my grandpa put them in a Mason jar and they used them as a doorstop for several years.
Damp soft bread makes the best rodent bait. It draws them in. It's also easy to form to the bait plate, dries so that it's hard to snatch away thus hey have to chew it off and bam.
When I trap rats, I bait the traps and don’t set them for 3 or 4 nights to let them get used to feeding from them. Then I start setting them. Good luck!

Abby spreading the hay and making a nest on cue is the cutest!
Funny to see how much the dogs loved the naan. I’ve never seen Toby excited to eat anything and he asked for seconds!

When are you going to do an update on the young bull you sold? He was a fine looking young bull.
Wonderful Video. Spring is here and seeing all of the birds have fun in the water is adorable. I can't wait to see new calves on the farm.

I didn't know that it deters rodents. I use it for insects because the DE breaks down insect shells so it's good for around well and HVAC.
