- I'm back with another K-Pop reaction video! In this one, I'll be reacting to four of ITZY's hottest songs, including their newest releases "Cheshire" and "Boys Like You," as well as their older bops "LOCO" and "ICY."

The only song in your video that is not ITZY signature message is Boys Like You, which is an English single that was meant for promotion on the US leg of their tour. However, the Halloween Itaewon tragedy occurred and they could not promote on TV or radio in the USA due to a national period of mourning. Chesire's lyrics are typical ITZY Love and trust and be yourself. As are the lyrics in ICY. LOCO was a song about being crazy in love, but the rest of the album song messages are very much ON Brand for ITZY. So, to say they are experimenting is not accurate in my opinion. The Korean lyrics of the song and the English lyrics sometimes differ slightly, and the translation may lose some of the message but for the most part the captions do get it right. It's on brand. Boys Like You is an outlier and it was meant to be.
ITZY really does explores their music. I hope you can listen to their bsides too! Cheshire album's and Checkmate album's bsides are fire! I'm sad that people don't listen enough to their bsides because that's where they really show their vocals compared to their title tracks which are more performance focused (except cheshire cuz the vocals there are 😩🖤)

In terms of their message, i think they are stive exploring that love yourself mesaae but in a different angle, their concept and sound however, are something they constantly explore and tries to bring iut something new and that's what I love about them. I do think their music is starting to machure inve cheshire and im curious where their sound is going.
Blackpink brought me into the kpop universe, but Itzy is what made me stay, no other group has as much personality and great music/dances at the same time imo, the whole package and just sweet genuine girls

At this point, itzy is the group that I'm looking forward the most. They're already super popular but I have feeling that they're will suddenly blow up even more around the world especially this year. All members have that aura too. They even received global ambassadorships of huge brands recently. The future is so bright for this girls 😭

Agree with Yuna. Her and Ryujin are both lead dancers but Yuna exudes idol performer energy. She’s an amazing performer and so naturally captivating on stage to watch. You can tell she’s in her element in stage. So passionate
ICY was Itzy’s second title, so it came out straight after Dalla Dalla 😊
At first i didn't like boys like you, BUT AFTER THEIR CONCERT? OMG -- that song is meant for a live energetic crowd its soooogooooooooooood
The cool thing about Itzy and their overall concept of "all in us" is that their music can really go anywhere and still be very much Itzy because of the self-confidence and energy enthused throughout, even into their B-sides on their albums.
It's always so fun not knowing at all what type of music they'll put out next.
Personality content wise I'd definitely recommend "Itzy in LA" or "Paris et Itzy". Both very healing fun shows that really showcase how wholesome, funny and down to earth they are.

Lia = 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 They said in an interview that they got in trouble for shooting Icy in LA because they did not have permits, they just showed up at locations and did it. To me Itzy is the only female group anywhere near the level of Blackpink. Also Jesse. Jesse should be as big as Blackpink - she is awesome.

I'm a boys like you apologist mainly because it's one of the few videos where they really weaponized Lia's SMILE.
I don't know if you've already seen it but Yuna's U-Go-Girl solo stage for KBS Song Festival was incredible, type of song that I don't normally go for but man she SOLD it. unreal. a must-watch if you want to see her pull out all the stops. I liked Ryujin an Chaeryeong's duo stage at KBS too but it was unfortunately kind of underwhelming production-wise. ):
I wonder if JYP really knows what to do with ITZY, The girl-power stuff is their brand but it's starting to feel like they're spinning their wheels a bit and I worry about the vibe getting stale. The newer 4th gen groups have some incredible performers and are working with a lot of interesting concepts, and while ITZY remains my personal favorite group, I feel like the material they're working with lately is just not at the same level. I watch their shows but thy don't end up on my playlists so much, you know?
(though honestly more than anything because I am desperately biased I just want more Ryujin dancing, the AOTM was Not Enough. some of my favorite ITZY content is vlive compilations where some of the members are covering other groups' dances, and Ryujin is always obviously having the most fun covering boygroup dances, I would love for her to get an official showcase for that energy)

Just so you know, Ryujin is pronounced closer to Ree-oo-jin or just Roo-jin (the ee oo is sorta connected) than Rie-jin. It doesn't actually matter to me if you keep saying it as Rie-jin, just thought I'd let you know if you had already been told :)

I felt the same as you about Boys like You. The concept just feels so weird for the song, even before it released I thought they were building to a Peek-a-boo or Mafia In The Morning concept, but instead it's more disney-like and I think it would've just hit better if the concept were different (even though they do look great, just doesn't feel right)
It wasn't for you. It was to attract new fans who dont listen to kpop and wouldn't listen to kpop. The timing of its release was ruined by the Itaewon tragedy and they couldn't promote it in the USA like intended. It was mean for US pop music fans. Not KPOP fans.
@@incheonguy Idk, I feel like Twice was going for the same thing with The Feels and Moonlight Sunrise, but both those concepts fit the songs and group itself. Twice also definitely have english songs that I think appealed more to American audiences. In this case I just think it doesn't fit well together, I do understand that though
@@solacee4327 Twice can't speak English though. They have difficulty promoting on morning talk shows and late night tv and can't do radio shows at all. . ITZY was meant to take Boys like you and promote on all kinds of media, radio, satellite, good morning "CITY NAME" and all the late-night shows. Had they done that the song would have been bigger. ITZY does TV and Radio interviews in the USA without a translator, for much longer than 5 or 10 minutes. I am not knocking Twice (I'm a once too) but even at fan signs (I have attended) they need a translator. I have been to more than 10 ITZY fan signs, and even more video calls, never has there been a translator needed for any member. Keep in mind ITZY doesn't have one singular style of music, if you have been a true fan for any length of time you know that their albums are multi-genre masterpieces. Boys like you was aimed at listeners who don't like songs in foreign languages, who would tune out, change the channel or do something else when a kpop song comes on tv or the radio. It is not KPOP style it is western pop style and 100% not aimed at people already IN THE FANDOM. It was to get people who are not and would not be in the fandom to stop for a moment and listen and MAYBE give ITZY a listen with other songs. TWICE English releases are all KPOP songs in English. All of them. They are not western pop. Boys like you is western pop. Purely. It is not for kpop fanatics.
@@incheonguy I don't think having non-disney music makes it western. Americans release all kinds of music, and I know itzy has done a bunch of stuff. I understand what you're saying, I just really think they could've pulled it off better with a different concept.
Also I feel like that's just a bad marketing strategy if true. Why would you pander to an audience with one song that are adamantly against international music and would refuse to listen to your other songs since they're in Korean
