For years, I have been a beneficiary of your great campaign techniques..one day, a promising result will rock.. thank you Prof.Jay for giving me the knowledge to guide my political journey
I know every campaign and office is different, but do you have a general guide for how much you should seek to raise for any given office? Obviously, the Mayor of New York would be different than the Mayor of Monroe Louisiana. But you said one should expect around $250k for a State wide office, Senate or Congress seat. I would naturally think it would cost more to campaign for Senate or Governor than it would for US Congress. Especially if you have 30+ districts covering about 1 million people vs 2 seats representing 39 million. Your videos are awesome and incredibly informative.
Thank you Nathan. I would start by looking at the financial reports of the person who holds the office, and the people who may have challenged them in the past two or three elections. That will give you some notion of what candidates usually spend.
Honestly I'm thinking about running for a state position in Tennessee, I wonder if years of fundraising is a good thing (1 to 2) or if your momentum will die out.
Your work is, phenomenal. Mr Townsend you are hardwired for this. Whats your perspective on leadership one liner philosophy? For instance, a leader shoud lead by example.
Thank you for your kind words. To answer your question, my rule is integrity, first and always, and yes, I lead by example. Reputation is the only thing we take to our grave. I pity those who will be remembered as crooks who violated the trust others placed in them. J
@@jaytownsend22 I have watched and listened to you on different forums online, and you speak with great conviction. If I was to pick a mentor I would pick you. Speaking of the grave and this is with great respect, someday the one who writes your epitah need not to struggle for words they only need to watch your videos, Mr Townsend you've written it well. I salute you and warmest regards.
do large corporations donate to political campaigns? Do they donate directly, or through a political party? But if they donate directly, there may be conflict of interest?
Greg Dahlen Greg: Federal candidates (U.S. Senate, President and Congress) are not permitted to take corporate contributions. States however, are governed by states, and many states allow it.
***** but it's not a case where a corporation can contribute to a political party and then the party can use the money on a federal candidate's campaign, is it? In this case, the corporation would more or less be making a campaign contribution, only it would be "veiled," an indirect contribution. I'm trying to understand what an article like this is talking about: www.motherjones.com/politics/2010/09/congress-corporate-sponsors. I'm trying to understand what people mean when they say "The Republican party is in the pockets of the big corporations," or "President Obama is in the pockets of the big corporations."
Greg Dahlen Probably a reference to Political Action Committees, which are a tool of corporations that cannot contribute directly to candidates...so they do it through PACS. Is there corporate influence in American politics? Of course...on both sides. They have given the country the best Congress money can buy. I could also rant about the Super PACS that are now funding the presidential candidates, but that is a book. Money will always find its way into the river of political discourse. For the sake of the Republic we hope (in vain sometimes) that it doesn't render the river a sewer.
I'm seriously thinking about running for the Green party here in Scotland and everyone needs to start somewhere right? This translates well here in the UK (bar certain laws) and this has really inspired me to actually do it instead of just seriously contemplating it. I doubt running for the Greens will ever get me anywhere but that's not the point. If and when I ever write my memoirs I will be sure to give you a name check Jay haha I promise you that Sir :D
+Carl Anthony Iral what differs are the political parties, the infrastructure, the mechanics of delivering a message. Each country has its own political culture. What all countries have in common? the components of the message--the unique story of the candidate, his/her values, issue positions, and what they think makes them better than their opponent. Take a look at the campaign diagram on my videos.
Thank you for your deep concern over my questions. It is very fascinating to see that at some point in time you've studied how political process works. Some people would find it boring, technical and difficult to understand, i am very pleased to see a person like you keenly understanding the political environment. I believe that political education is still the most effective way to guiding the people towards positive and enthusiastic political participation.

What is your insights about international politics ? is it the same as the US structure ?
+Carl Anthony Iral Every country is different, with its own culture and political rituals. Like the U.S. no two campaigns are ever the same. Jay
Then maybe this how to run a political campaign in the US maybe different in some other countries, depending on its practices?
