I wish I had the stamina I had in my 30s, would have played all day. Just got lucky on my second free hand and decided just one more round. Lead to couple more rounds. Lol
7:40 does it count as a slow roll if they are over 70?😅 Enjoying the vids, keep up the good work, young man. Shoutout to Zeus. His rate is too expensive for me!
Another good one! By the way what is that intro song? Great choice by the way. Really gives your Vlog its own signature and style. That call off with the pocket sixes was really surprising. I thought for sure they were going in the muck lol
I should muck the 66 for the $56 all in, once my isolation play failed, I was priced in to call his likely range which is very heavy towards big Aces. Song is Emotional Mess by Amy Lynn and The Honey Men.
Your vlog came up in a search and I gave it try. Watched a few episodes and I identify somewhat with your style. I'm an older guy and play 2-4/wk in the Austin. Texas poker like no other. Very aggressive even at lower limits. $1/$2 plays like $2/$5 in Vegas. 5 callers to a 5x PF raises is called Heads Up. You get the idea. Anyway I'm not that aggro, but I've made some adjustments to my games since I got here a few years ago. The few vlogs of yours I've watched have given me some good ideas and I'll continue to watch future videos. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Andy for the feedback and the follow. The games in Texas and Sacramento are very similar. Both play larger. I’ve played in 1-3 games with over 20k on the table. I normally post a new vlog every Sunday, next weeks vlog should be entertaining.
3:45 (KQ) that was a good trap. However, V played awful. What hand calls 90% pot turn bet to fold to a river bet on a brick? No such a hand. Yes, it is hard to believe that a top pair second kicker would've checked on two consecutive streets...Well, the same player could had nuts (pocket QQ). Also: once LJ checked flop back...little late to represent a Q on later streets.
To over think or to under think? That is the question. I tend toward the latter for some reason but I like how you think Doug. Maybe I'm learning something...I hope.
1st time watcher an new subscriber.. On the hand with the pocket 6 is the reason I don't like calling here It's because you're either crushed by An overpair or you're flipping which puts you in about a 65% disadvantage based on that range What's only about 35% With only about 35% equity against one person Of course if you knew they both have Is king it's an easy call but in general it's a fold
Thanks for subbing! My attempt to isolate the all in player was my big mistake. His range is like the one you described. Once I put 116 in, the other players jam which is very heavy in big Aces (I’ve played a lot of poker with them). Now I have to call 300 to win 900, no escape I priced myself in. Simple fold to the $56 jam was correct.
@@dougmccuskerpoker 66 and third to call ALL IN? There’s no book/GTO wizard that would make that call. Granted you got dream Postle scenario AK counterfeit. Easy fold vs punt $500.
@@greglist2991 everything is player dependent, the jamming player is someone I have history with and his range is very heavy with big Aces. My error was trying to isolate with a weak hand. Once I raise, he jams, I am calling 300 to win 900. My bankroll is large enough to handle the variance, easy call.
It's underrated, but it looks like you've got some good basics down like bank roll management and table selection. It's common to see youtubers constantly shot taking and finding themselves as the worst or second worst player at the table, but not you. The play wasn't the greatest I've seen from you, but by having solid basics you're making your mistakes smaller than they could be and giving yourself the best chance
Thanks Michael, I feel bankroll management is the biggest key to success as a player. Of course basic knowledge is important. Many players play above their roll, most of them make costly errors because of it. Moving up should occur when the game is good and your bankroll is healthy, not when your hot and stuck like many do.
Hey Doug! I haven't watched in probably 5 or 6 weeks because of how busy ive been but happy to see you're still posting! Going to catch up on your last few vlogs and look forward to the next one
As usual, you are your harshest critic. Your "mistakes" mostly look like good plays that got bad results. Nice comeback! Not much demand for unhappy endings
Wow, what a comeback. Can't get rivered every hand. Nothing to be discouraged about there. Just one of those going your way would have put you well into the black.
April was a good month for me. I made the final table in two tournaments. And I also won a cash game. 😀 1550 dollars This is very good money in Hungarian terms.
@@dougmccuskerpoker as a player, I would not have spoken up and disputed it. I would just sit back and wait for the dealer or the floor to rule on it. If nothing was said, and they moved on to the next hand, that would be fine with me.
@@dougmccuskerpoker I’ve just played in several places where they rule that if it hits the muck, it’s dead even when face up. Because of all of those kinds of things, I always just turn my cards over in front of me. I never understand the people that toss their cards towards the middle of the table. No need to be tossing cards. It can’t result in anything good. Lol.
Sorry for the bad run. But thanks for sharing the experience. Love your vlogs! For the record, that guy with the AK of hearts was lucky... In many casinos, it doesn't ,matter if the hand lands face up or not, if you throw your cards into the muck, that's it, you win. I'd check into the rules on that for where you play at but I know that's the rules for all the places that I play at. Keep the vlogs coming :)
Thanks for watching, I am fully aware of the rules and knew his hand was still live. I was not surprised when he had the winning hand, that was just how my day was going. Have more content on the way😀
I watch because you normally go with your reads, don't know who this guy is calling $120 against the rock at the table, definitely need to change things up somehow, play higher or go to a different cardroom
I don't think u played bad necessarily; sometimes things just happen that way. But, u got back in and ran it up nicely! I think it is important as a player to be able to keep fighting, especially if the game is still good. Now if some of that bad players with a bunch of chips gets up...ur at a tough decision. I played the other night, I got in for 1000, and seeing the bad player who just won a decent pot off of me and then another sizeable pot off of someone else (especially considering his play was suspect) got up to cash out. The locals I was playing said he almost never cashes out winner...so watching him takeoff over 1500 hurt! The important thing is if u stay is to not play tilted. Getting cold decked is part of the game.
I would stay and play as long as the game is good and I’m not tired. The game was good, but I was done. When I was younger, I could play solid all day long without getting tired.
Hi Doug, great comeback on day 2! What’s the rake structure like at capitol? I see Bart Hansen say small stakes in California is virtually unbeatable due to the rake. Thanks for the vlogs
Used to play 1/3 $100 at Hawaiian Gardens back in the day, now think 1/3 is $300 max buy in? Rake was either $4/5? But used to crush Garrett levelz. Way more profit > $300 buy in game think BB 2-3/5?
@@greglist2991 I believe that depth of buy in is more accurate in determining the size of the game. I’ve seen 5-10 games that limit buy in to $1500 max. The 1-3 at Capitol is match the stack of any player in any of the 1-3 games. Seen people buy 4K when they sat down.
Well, great first day, no so good second. Though you played kinda iffy second day, nice to see you’re human too and can have those days. Better lucky next time and also hope you choose t not make those iffy calls, though I admit that QQ hand was very tempting as you could have more than doubled up if you hit the set.
I wish 1/3 played this big in the NJ/NYC area!
Best and deepest 1-3 I’ve ever seen! If you’re ever out this way, I recommend a visit.

I really appreciate the clock in the corner. It's good to realize how infrequently you actually should be playing hands.
Folding bad hands is a key to winning poker. People in general play to many hands that get them into tough spots

Doug thanks for the video. You left at a good time. When I am tired, it's time to leave.
My focus was dropping, time to go.
Him throwing AK should have been auto win for you.😊
100% agree. Where I play they would have mucked his hand
Hand thrown in face up and visible has to play unfortunately
Visible is in play where I play - face down it’s gone.
If a card or cards hit face down, it’s dead. His were clearly face up and was live.
Each casino has their own rule, but not many places muck a face up hand anymore
