Kayaking Expedition Into This Giant Marble Mine Part 2

- with friends along for the trip, We kayaked deep into an abandoned marble mine that had 80 ft ceilings. This was our second kayaking trip into this mine, but this time we had our big light out the whole time and the results were stunning. The water level had risen so we couldn't access half of the mine but we still saw a bunch of things we had never seen before. Part 1 is here: • Kayaking Expedition In...
Amazing video guys! It’s crazy how high the waterline was above your head, easily 30’. Awesome content!
Thanks so much! The fluctuating water levels in this mine are definitely pretty wild!

I love that you don't use any click bait images, and, you don't dramatise anything as the adventure itself is enough drama, and no music required. Thanks for being so brave and adventurous.

Kinda looks like little nightmares with the boys version in the first one, he's in water the whole time (mostly) so it's quite similar looking with water color and stuff lol
Who actually cares about that rn
I went into an abandoned mine once, carved into a mountain but in ground level, just a few steps in, the cold hit so hard, the temperature dropped so much, I started chiverring, and I was still close to the entrance. I don't know if you commented about it or not and I missed it, but seeing the breath vapor made me think about how cold it would have been inside this mine, filled with water and little to no air vents that could bring some heath on the places you've been to.
probably below zero
@@Ryaninsanity there's that too
@@reverendnon5959 nah it’s more consistently around 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Regardless of the time of year, it rests at that temperature.

I love the vulture baby just chilling there
Same lol
It's funny how the more people I saw in the beginning, it actually put me at ease. I love the combination of Kayaking and cave exploring!
I had thought that it would be neat if you could throw a chem light over a ledge when it's dark we can't tell how far down it is. But they wouldn't be biodegradable nor non toxic. As watching a video about divers who went into an underwater cave. When they got down to what they thought was a bottom , they used a weighted line to measure it and went on another 196'. You could use a weighted line or a fishing reel put a Cam light on it let it drop, reel it back up. Or you could take a laser measure. Anyway there's times when I would like to know how deep a pit is.
We were actually wondering how deep the water was too. We will have to drop a line in the next mine we go to, good idea!
@@ActionAdventureTwins yes that'd be very cool to know. still can't comprehend how they managed to mine it all out
@@ActionAdventureTwins you guys should take a 1000 foot spool of paracord to use to measure the depth
I'm sure the following applies to abandoned mines just like it does to caves, you can have a pool of water that doesn't appear to be an inch over three feet deep, take a step into it and discover its actually twelve feet deep. Obviously with this mine, you're dealing with water that is too murky to see the bottom, in addition to it being much greater depths.
I've used a fishing reel and weighted line when face down over
a tide submerged blue hole. Knotting my reel cord once lead
hits bottom and line goes slack, Back on the beach I use a wood
yardstick. To wrap my reel line around the wood length counting
yards until my knot is in-hand. Then I count any remaining inches.
No, this isn't rocket science,

unless you're in new zealand and there are eels, the likelihood of that happening is nil
Its not very deep. Probably 50 feet?

Just imagine how many years it took for that whole cave to flood, what was there before? what's below?
I would never do this just because I have a fear of what might be in the water, and forgetting my way out.
Send out some mini sub rovers to investigate. Im down with that idea
Well it was a quarry, so just rocks were there before. Below, probably rocks. It probably filled up pretty quickly and that's why it isn't being mined anymore
From that water line I’d say it fills extremely fast

Y’all cave/mine exploring is really something else. Thrilling, exciting and extremely scary 😅

one cave. Didn't Jaded J get the same memo ?

another inspiring video boys. When u were rolling the big rock off at 15 minutes in I got pretty nervous for you.
Most mines are extremely cramped, but this place is so huge and open, you could just build a city in there.
Hello from Norway, keep up the good content like it alot ! Your videos are the best!
Its crazy how high those water marks go up. Meaning water fills up till that mark.
Self explanatory.
Fantastic observation
@rossy110 its an observation and my reaction lol. Why dont you go and do something nice to society instead of being a poorly educated and poorly mannered baby giant?
It would be even more fascinating to know how deep the water is
I was wondering the same thing because if it like 30ft deep in some spot the roof will have to at least 100ft high
Or what could be living in it 🤔😃
Imagine if it was like 5 ft that would be dumb but funny
Some parts will drop probably close to 100 feet down, based off the size of average marble mines you'd have to imagine they cut quite a bit under the natural water table.
Imagine you’re deep in ur kayak sesh and the water starts rising…
wow, my fascination curiosity and my claustrophobic anxiety have now fully intermingled.
this was awesome, nice work
I'm so glad I found this channel, I couldn't imagine doing any of this like holy crap. You guys are truly amazing and I admire you for what you do. Keep adventuring and exploring. I'd love to be able to do this sort of thing someday.
It felt like I was watching a horror movie with a couple of teens exploring a cave before something in the water begins to move and and then starts attacking them . Slowly the group begins to split up and get lost as they fear for their lives.
Mining done in this way created these huge "ballrooms". Its called "room & pillar" in the trade. Many of these type mines eventually hit a water spring and the "rooms" started to fill up with water and the mine had to be abandoned. Enjoyed your video and having this perspective. Thank you for posting it.

Imagine the water level rises while they are still under the cave
If it did it would come up slowly enough for them to get out
@@pleasesendbitches8120 If it was flood level rainfall it could fill up very quickly, but I don't think they are stupid enough to explore a cave like that when its raining.
@@ATruckCampbell the rain could be elsewhere not necessarily where they re .. still dangerous.
I doubt the water will ever get back up to that level these days, thats probably a more scary thought than anything in the cave.
I just watched the story about the 12 kids who got trapped in a cave in Thailand when it flooded
I think I'd love to do something like this, but then the reality hits me that I have aversions to whatever look like the start of a horror movie.

While they are living their lives and adventuring the world I’m sitting here on my couch watching them while I’m wasting mine, make sure to go out and have some fresh air! It’s okay to not do things like this if your scared but please! Your life is limited who cares if it’s dangerous to do these types of things we are all going to die someday and that fear will disappear once we leave the world!
True
lmao. "who cares its dangerous doo it" Uh, no. Go explore but lets stay alive gang.
I once went in a cave where it took over 2 hours to get out... I had to climb over ain't rocks and I had so many panic attacks in there. I felt so trapped. It was my first time doing something like that. Never plan to ever again lol.. this video reminded me of that. I found myself ducking too when you went under that arch way lol
Same here!!
Dang, that would suck if your batteries ran out. You should get more big lights next time and have back ups just in case so that you can find your way out. That's massive. I'm surprised that the entrances worn not blocked off. I'm glad they wore not blocked because that's some crazy footage. Cool video!
14:34 lol imagine if someone down there started to throw the rocks back at them😂
10:57 - DAMN! The rock layers on the wall are incredible... If this is a Marble mine, I guess those rocks are just metamorphosed limestone? I could be way off there. Still thats cool as hell.
spot on! we believe the white marble here in this mine is dolomitic limestone which is marble of a slightly different composition but it all comes from limestone originally

Another great adventure thanks for letting me tag along, the water level that showed on the sides was really deep at one time where did that water go? Take care of yourselves be safe
We think the normal level is about where its at now. The water mark on the wall is there from when a hurricane came through about 12 years ago and it has only recently gone backdown to the level you see it at in the video. Thanks for watching!!
