What you said about muggings/attacks on elderly Asians due to racial profiling, not being marked down as a hate crime is *so damn important* , I agree with it so much (& have been saying it from my corner of the world too). In a way it's very much gaslighting as well, since oh "no slurs etc happened, so you can't say it's a hatecrime!" but to us, we know exactly why it's happened, and it sucks. And clearly, when some of us *do* point it out, we get labeled as "pulling the race card" as if that's not exactly what it is.
"The top works together, the bottom doesn't" is so damn accurate, and it sucks. My little injection of "lol" here, is I remember your shirt! "It's not left vs right, it's up vs down"
"East Asians are the most racist" Definitely something that frustrates me so much because it's so true among my boomer relatives. What's even weirder is that being an "ABC" in Australia, growing up I've received & seen both sides of Colourism. Mainland Chinese people treating me as "traitors" for living elsewhere & not being "Chinese enough", relatives here with bigger eyes insulting my "tiny eyes", while my relatives in SEA fawn over my "beautiful light skin" compared to their "ugly dark skin". It sucks because having experienced that as a child & not understanding as much back then, I know now that that contributed to my own self/internalised racism.

Watching the other half later on, but before I forget, what is the name of the man with the glasses? I think I missed it, but I couldn't find it from a quick scroll back either.

@@StrummerUNWRITTEN thank you for these excellent points, which I totally concur with!
I didn’t catch the details of all the participants, but @kikifunnymama who organised this event might know who the guy with glasses was? (And do follow Kiki on IG if you aren’t already - her content is awesome and she’s a lovey person)

@@DonnieWong72 Oh man... I hate youtube and its autoplay... I wrote up a big reply but hadn't sent it yet because I was finishing off the video first. argh.
I'll definitely give Kiki a look & follow. Think I caught that guy was called Nat.
Not sure how much this will help your channel, but hopefully a lil more interaction is always a positive. Now let's see if I can re-write some of what I wrote before.
I agree with the guy talking about how mental illness shouldn't be used as the reason whenever an attack happens. It's not only disrespectful to the victim for downplaying their attack as things get shifted to 'oh but they were mentally ill' instead of the victim's wellbeing, but also it's disrespectful to mentally ill people who would never get abusive to others.
Maybe I'm being too pedantic here, but personally I don't like how the other speaker said how do we want them to show support, as it feels a little non genuine? Even though it did sound like he was truly wanting to know. I only mean that, if you really wanted to support a community, would you not proactively observe and learn what it is that's hurting us, see what we're doing, and do the same? And then once you feel like maybe you're not able to do much else, *then* ask the community is there anything that you're missing, or is there something more you can do etc. But like you've said too, I'ma firm believer with the 'charity starts at home' POV, and if family are the greatest influence, then your best support is explaining and having conversations- uncomfortable but mature convos with relatives first.
I like what you mentioned with the elders being targeted as not exactly racist/hate crimes, but rather "racially profiled attacks", because that's so true. it's easy to just use the racism blanket term, but it certainly doesn't explain what's happened, as clearly.
I really liked this entire video, and I'm glad I saw it because of your platform. Also I ofcourse agree with how the media & authorities really manipulate, gaslight & skew the views of things, which further spreads this divide between Asians & Black people. It's never about a race as a whole. It's the small bad few, that are amplified & makes out communities turn on each other.
There's something I'm curious to know/ask/point out my exp of though. Because this is specifically about East Asians. I'd like to know if there's any more people or communities from say, South or South East Asians, who will help support us too. Icr how much I told you last time, but I had a Filipina friend turn her back on me with the "you're exaggerating the racist attacks (specifically from heightened abuse since covid), I've never been attacked". & I suppose I wonder/am curious as well, because if we do acknowledge the racial drive behind it, I look inherently Chinese (or at least East Asian). While she can actually pass as Latina or South American actually. So for her to dismiss my experiences without acknowledging this obvious visual difference, esp during the covid ignorance, is just...well shit. & like how you mentioned at the end, it very much depends on where you are in the world & your environment. & how someone in the chat didn't realise it was a big problem.
(brain is turning to mush right now so I'll stop before I start sounded incoherent. but I hope that makes sense. I'm also again glad that there are people like yourself and everyone in this chat, and many younger gen Asians who are speaking out & so knowledgeable about it all with resources & good reach to help all of us. I know my abilities are very limited. I had a platform through my music photography, which is what I used to speak out in 2020-22, but it was all disheartening in the end, & my personal health keeps declining so I'm unable to "fight" for the community the way that you & others are doing. But I'lll always be here cheering & supporting on the sidelines for sure. 💛)

@@StrummerUNWRITTEN My sense is that the support from within our own communities (E & SE Asian) is so limited because most are terrified to rock the boat, considering how this issue has been so politicised and racialised.
Because I see it as a socio-economic not a racial problem, with people on the bottom rung of society living side by side with our elders in San Francisco. And these two groups just happen to be black and Asian, but their race is being portrayed a central factor, when I think it's circumstancial.
But the fact that it's characterised as a race war prevents the average person from talking about it.
San Francisco based Chinese rapper Chino Yang (who is also on YT and IG) had his restaurant broken into seven times, and he released a song about it, and SF Mayor London Breed tried to cancel him, with the support of high profile black activists publicly denouncing him, and YT banned his video. After the media in China picked up his story they apologised and restored his video, but it's a great example of how anybody who speaks about this is attacked.
I actually asked him if he wanted to join the chat in this video, but he was holidaying in China with his family at the time, and while he was away his restaurant was broken into for the 8th time!
As for the guy asking what kind of support we want, I genuinely think it's because the average person like him is completely unaware of the problem because it doesn't appear in their social media feed. Most non Chinese people I speak to have no idea about it either.
Anyway, thank you so much for your thoughts - if nothing else, I'm glad this video now exists and will hopefully be seen by more people over time, and I hope they too will find this a safe place to share their views.

The bigger question is why is Whyte on Black crime being overlooked? No other race is more persecuted and prosecuted than the Black race. So get in line behind us when wanting justice against racial injustices.💯💯

@@deborahsparks2199 only it *was* the world and the US which did get behind the BLM movement.
Nobody is saying that White on Black crime isn't a big problem. It is. But this is also Donnie's platform, and he's speaking out about another issue which is much more ignored by the world, yet a huge & dangerous problem, too.
When it comes to racism & abuse, it should never be a "let's compare who has it worse! Only the worst one is allowed to be angry & fight for justice!" It should really be "We know this is wrong, regardless of severity, and we need to do better as a society". Because if we're just comparing who has it worse, then we're fighting amongst each other, and guess who ends up winning/happy? The racists & the abusers. They're happy because they're kicking back enjoying the show of minorities fighting each other, so that the racists don't even have to lift a finger to keep hurting us, as we'll do it to each other.
I live in Australia. How often do you hear about Australian news in the US? Well, if you want to talk about how nobody seems to care or say anything about White on Black crime, remember that during peak BLM, Australian news was airing & showing endless protests for BLM on mainstream media/TV, for weeks. Weeks. That's more airtime I'm pretty sure I even saw in regards to the Russian/Ukraine war, and now with Gaza.
Again, this "get in line behind us wanting justice for the racial injustice" thing is bizarre to me & always will be. In Australia, majority of racism does come from White racists. So, if you want to fuel your rage, why not fuel it with this take instead? "White racists are abusing the Black community. They're also abusing the Asian community. We should be supporting each other & banning together to create a stronger front in order to fight back against our mutual enemy, which are (white) racists."
Most importantly too though, is why are you choosing to bring in White on Black racism/hate, under a video speaking about Black on Asian hate? If that's what you're passionate about (which is good. People should be enraged about abuse/racism), then use your platform to speak out about it, adding to the support for your community. Just like Donnie & these people are doing the same for their community.

Black people kill more black people than anybody else. From the crack cocaine days to the culture of violence. When you lose your language you lose your culture and moral values.
