I started reading One Piece just before the new DLC was announced and got the game yesterday, so this is perfect timing! Excited to see more, subbed! :)
Not sure why this ended up being recommended to me, but the timing couldn’t be better with the new dlc! This was incredibly detailed and helpful, thank you! Would love to see a part 2 with new dlc characters :)
This video has just become a must watch for OPPW4 players. The most informative vídeo i've seen in any musou game. We can see the amount of research and knowledge for this vídeo, great work. If you anytime do another one like this, i sure will be there, keep it up !
yea until he gets to the actual list and his opinions of characters are fucking terrible (at least up until Ussop as i just couldn't watch anymore after that).
@@FuryousD In the end a tier list is all about personal opinion and perspective and you dont need to agree with him. With that in mind this tier list its still amazing, he has a very good neutral insight of all characters plus what makes them Shine with the skills available
@@srowwww9780 as I have said he put Ussop in S teir which even from a purely neutral standpoint is wrong, I actually like using Uusop, I think he is enjoyable to play but there is just no way in hell he is as good as this guy said he is, he isnt good in the slightest, average at best but fun to play.
I remember spending hours and hours on Pirate Warriors 2 and 3 back in highschool. It's great to see the series still going. And as a zoan fan the transformation forms have me howling. Shame they didn't bring back a few of the past game's characters used to play a lot with Enel and Caesar back then. With Kaido in this one though i'm not complaining. Thanks for the tier list mate!
There is actually a bit you missed with Mihawk that solidly puts him in S tier imo. His first charge (after 1 full normal string) combo 3 where he attacks with his knife does some of the most damage in the game. It absolutely shreds enemies and is pretty easy to set up. The full charge version of his combo 3 *can* do similar damage, but from experience I think I only ever got it to work on giant enemies. I don't think many people know about this aspect of his kit.
You can also maintain an infinite combo with the new dlc skill that refills stamina on launching attacks! His 1,2 air attack is a plunge that grounds you, that you can then follow up with a launch. This means after you charge your blade you can just spam his best ground and air attacks literally forever so long as you can keep the inputs going properly. Some context for anybody that doesn't know, his blade keeps the ground charge during air attacks but loses the charge as soon as any string ends. Dash cancling will keep a string going, but stamina is a limited resource.
Great work bro. I came back to the game because of Gear 5 Luffy. Like i couldn't believe that he would be added in (like i thought it was a mod lol). I loved this game and still do, since there is a huge character roster, and you can like chill and play this game. Great work again!
This is incredible, makes me wish there was a video like that for pw3 too. Also more in depth builds could be cool, especially now that we can add slots so things will change probably
@@blackcat09tails55 i meant that an in depth tier list like this one would be interesting for pw3, especially since many characters there would be in completely different spots.
I’m gonna say this is most effort teir list I have seen for this game. When I see others I thought lot people were better how their rank or worst. You showed way more potential they had. Shanks I say he’s not as bad but when I do use him I do see his problems but that doesn’t mean he can do his job. Otherwise great video and did a lot into this is amazing. I’m glad see one my fav people be S teir is Kizaru. When I see other teir list I thought he was one best units because he has so many aoe attacks. But his lack comes in damage and guard break but if you play him right that’s no problem at all and his damage can be in burst of damage. But because of his combos If I remember Y X X is when he does the kicks explosion that does a lot of guard break damage. I’m glad see him good. Sorry I like Kizaru wanted talk about him. I will say all units have its purpose except Bege got one of worst sadly. He can do well but he feels more impossible use in single player he might be way better in multiplayer maybe. Sorry besides all this a great vid.
One gimmick I learned with sky types is that if you're in full burst and use an attack that slams you into the ground, you can usually activate ground only specials in that brief moment your character is touching the ground.
@@ShadowknightEXNah that's fine. He was on the right idea when he said they should be built for the ground, I bet that's what the devs intended. It makes sense if only for the sake of variety.
wow, surprisingly good. Not bad for a first essay like video (I think). Can't wait to see more of these videos. Maybe one for PW3 since the characters are bigger and more interesting (IMO) and i would love to see an overview of the characters. Maybe we can also see other musou games, or games of this type of analyzing games with massive roster of characters. But that's more my hopes. A great video anyways. Hope you get more popular since i think you have great potential and a great voice for this type of videos.
Thanks for the kind words! I was thinking of doing one for PW3 and other Musou/Warriors games eventually although the research takes a while so it hasn't been a priority. Definitely on the To-Do List though.
@@demonmechon8524 ooh, very nice to hear, i'm glad you liked my comment, so did you want to say what other musou games you planned on doing vids on, since the ones that i would like to see are the fate extella ones sine they are obscure but good even though they aren't made by koei techmo. but i'm still looking forward to your future vids
Sorry I didn't see your comment until now, youtube hid it from me. I'll be more likely to make extensive videos like this one for musou games I've played a lot and feel like I understand like PW3 and some of the Nintendo ones like Hyrule and Fire Emblem Warriors. I'm definitely up for playing as many warriors games as I can so I can experience more of this genre I love and making videos of first playthroughs and stuff so suggestions for more are definitely appreciated. The Fate games you recommended look interesting so I'll probably look into them in future.
to add: hancock's FFB animation also petrifies enemies, and for some reason they deal massive damage to armor broken enemies, almost comparable to her 4* special. This creates a very stupid combo loop where you beat on a poor sod without your FFB, stunlocking them with chain petrifies, then finish them off by entering FFB, killing them by literally looking down on them.
@demonmechon8524 Boa stun lock is real, and you don't even need to chain petrifications. In FFB you can keep the status infinity by dash canceling before her final hit while reapplying the stone with each hit. This also fully bypasses armor. Also try Blackbeard with all 4* specials and FFB while using the Deadly Cadence skill. This gives him full invulnerability after a special for a few seconds and let's you fully restock with his combo 3 to do it all again. Makes him a real monster. Oh and Katakuri (and Boa) definitely deserve top tier. Mochi man himself is without a doubt the single best character in the game with everything going for him. Kind of overpowered to be honest.
Bartolomeo's gimmick is also pretty useful for charging his meters from what I remember. I remember doing meme setups where I would just spam one of his cinematic specials over and over again.
thank you so much for this video, i love this game but don't feel like i know much about it, it's really fun to learn more I usually play with the skills that increase resource gain, X/Y enhancement depending on the character, and the one that gives healing during FFB, which has been a lifesaver but I might try this build! I've definitely started struggling in the last few treasure logs
I wanted to make a video myself about how we really need PW5 with Gear 5 front and center to make up for the incomplete nature of PW4, but now with the character pack AND gameplay updates im truly content Also good on you for actually making the video you were planning (unlike me lol), great stuff here 👍🏽🎉
@@nwachukwuking4402It isn’t because they removed some characters, but that is part of it. Compare this to Pirate Warriors 3. Only like a few of the Strawhats have their PTS versions, which wouldn’t be an issue at all if this game was solely focused on the New World part and there just weren’t any PTS versions at all. Removed playable characters. Plenty of removed enemies, like Arlong, Don Krieg, Hody, Caesar. A story mode that starts in Alabasta and only covers a handful of the anime/ manga arcs. You take that short story mode and then add on the Treasure Log that has simplistic missions with hella repeating events and almost no replay value whatsoever. Meanwhile, even the low level missions in PW3 are worth doing since you can use them to level up weaker characters. But there’s no point in doing that in this game. There isn’t even a point in playing on higher difficulties. Plenty of characters were changed in ways that make them feel inferior to their counterparts in PW3, specifically since they don’t have unique actions anymore. Law was awesome in PW3 because you could set up a Room, run to the other side of the map, and teleport to it from wherever. But now you can’t manually set up Rooms in this game, so there’s an entire aspect of his character that’s just gone. Character movesets were gutted and turned into individual specials that you have to equip before a battle, which sounds like it gives you more options but really just takes them away since there are objectively good and bad choices.
I definitely fell into the "Not enough reason to go back" category with the DLC. I platinumed the game, had a fantastic time doing it (VERY long-time Musou player), but even though the characters looked rad, the thought of replaying old stages which had already lost their challenge by the end didn't do it for me. Plus like you said, the new characters wouldn't even be integrated into the old stages making them feel super tacked on. I honestly didn't know that there were new stages on the docket for the DLC. If there's enough of them, and they provide enough challenge to justify playing them, I might wait until the new character packs wrap up, then download both groups at once. The huge content infusion would basically make it feel like a full-fledged expansion pack.
I personally feel like invincibility and defense abilities in general were vastly overrated in your ranking. I haven't been in a mission yet where Undying wasn't the only defensive measure I needed to get an S rank, and using counter specials in place of directly offensive one is usually kind of a waste. Characters going up an entire tier based on the fact that they have an invincible FFB just feels really drastic to me. But my experience is also totally invested in DPS tier lists, which tend to be the most significant ones to determine the strength of characters in a warriors game. It's just bizarre seeing some characters with vastly higher damage output ranked right next to ones who don't die easily
Kaido in base with the 2nd string combo will sometimes carry me through entire levels. Also his special i believe it’s called pandemonium shreds through armour; as well as the 2nd string combo if you position well
I'm legitimately surprised someone has put just as much time into this game as I have. While I agree with the placement of the top 3 and s+ characters, I find it hard to believe that post time skip Luffy is worse than Robin or Usopp. I have played this version Luffy nearly a hundred times more than you have, respectfully. Outside of his gear 4 forms, Luffy's four-star pre-time skip moves excel in killing logia users. Not to mention, the armor break potential in his jet gatling combo 2 during full force burst is perfect for setting up gg cannon and giant gg cannon. Which can kill logia users before they burst with ease. I also think you were a bit too harsh on his gear four forms, because snake man in particular is very underrated. I'm sure you know that hitting cinematic special moves while the enemy is in a juggle state extends the length of time before they can burst, while simultaneously pausing their stun gauge. Using this strategy, Luffy's snake man dragon culverin is very solid damage, while stampede is broken for armor break. I feel he deserves to be at least s tier with these points in mind. One more thing I'd like to say, is that carrot should be s+ tier because the shocked state is extremely broken with lineage factor skill, it even works on bosses during full force burst. Her electric ground combos also deal more damage to strong enemies the more small enemies are around them. I recommend testing it out because it is very bugged, but when it works you can delete giant enemies' health bars instantly. All in all, the guide is very well put together, and I love how we have the same feelings on crocodile lol. They did him and Fujitora so dirty in this game compared to pw3! Enjoy the new dlc characters, and I would love to see a guide once they are all out!!!
- Yeah, I mentioned that I'm very indecisive on Robin since she has incredible damage output but weird hitboxes and don't feel great about where to put her but I think she does deserve to be high up. - Usopp's consistent insta-armour break from Flash Dial, Armour refill pause and constant special gauge refill with Net and Good Special Damage put him above or at least close to Luffy imo. - I agree that I was a bit harsh on TS Luffy and he should be higher. I get caught up on G4 forms and forget how good he is even without them sometimes. Snakeman has good specials but King Cobra interrupts the stun you mentioned and gives enemies a free burst. Pre-TS is good too but Gear 3 Penalty limits his options due to ending FFB/Gear 2 early. - Have been testing Carrot recently and once again agree that I was too harsh. I try to take the worst case scenario into account when ranking characters because I feel that a character having good damage is nice but if they can't handle Logia/Law while invincible then then that needs to be acknowledged. Carrot doesn't have the best armour break without her shock and struggles if an enemy is immune, if you don't let them burst then that's not a problem but in the case where you might mess up then it is a problem. Will need to look a bit more into the small enemies thing you mentioned but she's definitely going up the list. Great comment, I agree it's nice to talk with others who are as obsessed with a game as I am. Thanks for providing your thoughts and being polite about it as well. :)
@demonmechon8524 No problem, man. Like I said, your tierlist was very well made, and I was surprised to find out about Cracker's infinite biscuit form. I admit Usopp isn't someone I've given much playtime, so I just assumed he wasn't that good. Might play him and cracker way more now Carrot's exploit is a bit finicky, but I've narrowed it down to this: The strong opponent you're trying to damage must be surrounded by minor enemies. Particularly, behind a group of them. This goes for most bosses, baring the ones with health gates or shields. You need to line them up so that the electricity travels through them and explodes into the strong enemy. It makes an interesting sound when you do it correctly. I recommend using ground combo 2 or 3, which yield the best results since you can do them quickly. Her Moon Rabbit special also seems to follow this to similar effect as well. I agree she does struggle with isolated logia users, but that comes with any character without invulnerability stuff. Her shocked state with lineage factor and great pirate's ire is best for dealing with them before they transform. She definitely would be better with her sulong transformation. Lmk, if you have any more questions about it. :) P.S. Yamato is pretty much a better carrot with ice anyways:/
you can make any Character basically invincible when in FFB if you take captain's wisdom and indomitable spirit. Indomitable spirit will keep you at full HP constantly and captain's wisdom means you rarely dont have FFB. not the most damage set but i dont feel like i've ever needed to take increased damage during my road to getting the platinum trophy and i played the entire game on hard/ultra hard. Overall really great video!
It's good to finally see a vid that really digs into every character, with some interesting info. I never knew Ivankov's buff was tiered, so that's very cool. An excellent watch. PS: For Hawkins's FFB (55:32), I did a bit of experimenting and I think I know what it does. It makes it so his curses stun enemies on top of dealing damage.
Interesting that you have so many hours in the game but still use On Land/Air/Special buff skills. People have run the math and for two skill slots they are super not worth it. Great video with that aside, very comprehensive!
Great video loved the whole thing The only issue was me being agitated watching you be at like 5% health during the entire video with every character, while AVOIDING ALL THE HEALTH ON THE MAP😊
Great video learned which characters to use and not to use, I agree with top 3, one of the best teir lists I've seen, although I think shanks should've been in at least top of c
I'm honestly gonna have to disagree with Shanks. He's my most played character, and I've absolutely loved my time with him. I found that instead of using his charged attacks immediately to power up his specials, just save it for when you absolutely need to use it. Like for big enemies or groups of enemies. I noticed a big difference with his basic combo damage and armor break potential with and without his charge. Using his charge to wipe out a group of enemies and then immediately using another special to get it back is a great way to constantly maintain it while still doing insane amounts of damage. Also you can taunt twice with him to put on sunglasses which makes him an immediate S tier for me.
Yeah, Shanks and Nami have been brought up the most by people in the comments as characters I underrated and I'm definitely starting to see it for Shanks. He's gonna move up but I'm not sure how much because it's hard to test characters fairly now with Soul Maps making everyone over leveled. Thanks for being polite and explaining your points thoroughly.
I play Mihawk and that's the reason I keep wanting to play Shanks. I want to be able ro store my charges and he can do that. I just didn't like being locked out of all heavy attack ya know?
Oh! One more thing! With shanks, you can just frame lanching attack if you want to maintain your combo after charging your haki. As the lingo suggests, the timing if VERY tight but it's good to know.
so like you i am obsessed with these games. and its been installed ever since i bought it back in 2020. its a musou game with quick hop and in out mechanics. with most things being able to be fininshed in less then 30 minutes its fun even when you only haven a half houre to play. i just love it. i must admit that the strawhats are some of my least favorite characters in this game whilein PW3 they where some of my favorites i also miss the dreamlog.
I have followed the series since PW2 yet I did not hear about the new DLC until now! It's nice to see that Captain Mid translates into gameplay as well, great vid!
I really dislike how some characters don't have air combos. Like why even have the jump option? They really shat on Tashigi and it feels so bad, I loved playing her in PW3. Great video btw, I had no idea Law had invincibility on his FFB, or even Crocodile being better as a ground fighter (who would've guessed sandman likes being on the ground XD. Power type would've been so much fun)
Did I understand you right, you used almost the same skill set? That explains a lot of your tier list. My characters have each their own invidual skill set! My Nami, for example, is a nearly untouchable one hit wonder(especially for Pacifistas and Franky)! I would say that the most of my character builds are S or A Tier for me, and Nami is a S! Chopper has poor damage and amor break? What? Chopper has natuarlly shieldbreaking talants without any additional skill use. My Chopper is immortal A Tier!Brook just needs FB-Booster for the duration and power and this "status change" thing booster, OPPW3 he was a lot better, but he is still a A Tier. That the Ace Air-Attack against giants is so effective, is new to me.Kings Haki booster + status change booster is a must use for Kaido and Big Mom!Kings Haki booster + basic shieldbraker for Shanks and the enemies can't do anything anymore. If you use the boosters for the basic strong attacks(Playstation Triangle) Blackbeard is even in the story mode a one hit killer. Stubborn is good for Kid, I use his special attack where he creates this metal columns and destroy them with his basic strong attack for huge damage!Bege is good if you use the "stronger allies" for territories booster.Jimbei had the biggest downgrad in OPPW4 he was 1000 times better in OPPW3!With shieldbreaker for basic attacks, hunting and FB-Booster, Crocodile makes a lot damage! I use Crocodile only in the air. ^^'Hancock, status change booster, focus, shieldbreaker, special attack booster + FB-duration booster, she will be untouchable!Tashigi, FB-Booster, shieldbreaker + special attack booster, she will be so fast the enemies can't react anymore so it negates her low strengh!I gave Lucci, FB-Booster, shieldbreaker, stamina booster + basic attack booster, than I only spam basic attacks in the air with his transformation form! ^^' My Top 3 are Franky, Whitebeard and Smoothie
Imagine if insead of Co-Op online we had a 2v2/3v3/4v4 where you control different factions and try and control the island. That would elevate the game above any anime game, it would literally be true to the story and what Oda accomplishes when writing/drawing
@@nwachukwuking4402 It's far more akin to a league of legends style with 2 teams, areas to protect, minions, but with super characters running around. It's like Star Wars Battlefront conquest 2005. onyl real gs know and you aint one
Amazing video, deserves more recognition from PW players 🙏🏽 I personally think nami isn’t TOO bad she’s pretty fun at the very least, a good setup as you said is having servant and weather egg and switching between the two it’s just unfortunate that her damage and armor break isn’t that good and thunder breed tempo’s range isn’t the best either. But at least she’s enjoyable to play
53:58 That's why dashes in mid combos exists. You attack then when you see the Enemies attacking you dodge them. Also, tenacity, ESPECIALLY for kid, is Essential. He is like fujitora, hard for beginners and you would think these characters are trash, but if you learn the tricks with them you can actually destroy stages. Neverthelss, kid lacks range attacks, and needs an Upgrade in combos for the next pirate warriors. Edit: I just uploaded a kid video on true pirate warriors (ULTRAHARD) yesterday.
idk Kid is mid imho, not bad but not good either, Fujitora on the other hand i have no experience with, i dont even think i have played him once in PW4.
I agree to everything you say about my characters (I only play as Akainu, Kizaru, Yamato, Hybrid Kaido, Buggy & Black Beard), though I didn't realize Buggy's potential, you also made me want to try Ace out, and lastly maybe I'd have placed Kizaru right next to Akainu for best 3 but I might be buyest. I am a Yamato main so if you ever need intel on why Yamato is the best character I'm right here, for the record I've engaged in PW4 a week ago and started playing on Ultra difficulty (🔥🔥🔥🔥) on day 3 with maxed out Yamato, so yeah I'd be happy to help just a bit with the amazing job you're doing, can't believe I just woke up to a 2 hours long video, thanks mate 😊
Amazing video, i watched it entirely while also playing PW4. When i first played with Oden i was surprised with how strong he is and makes me excited to see how good Roger will be. I also tried the new 3 characters and all of them are amazing, specially Gear 5 that now is the transformation with more duration in the game wich is amazing. I saw a Leak a month before the first wave came out and it said that alongside Uta and Roger they were also adding Koby, Film Red Shanks, Garp and Rayleigh. Considering they were right about Yamato and Hybrid Kaido being in it might be true so we'll see. Shanks is very down in the Tier and the worst Yonkou in the game by far so maybe a new Moveset can help him out, we'll see.
I get you like this game but... an hour and a half? Really stretching that 10 minute mark to get this vid out huh? Unironically I got into the game a year before this DLC and I'm so glad I've seen people talk about it so much more after this DLC is getting hyped up. Great video.
I still remember a skill of another Warriors game Every 100 KOs increase attack sufice to say, its broken, there is a point where the attack gain overcome the tankiest mofos
I remember when I first started playing and had a lot of fun, but lost the spark in the Wano arc. I always wanted a DLC for Wano when I saw Yamato in the manga. I remember seeing the wano pack with Kin'emon, Kiku and Oden and thought, surely my boy Yamato will come, which unfortunately didn't seem to happen. Then I looked at the game a little while ago and saw that there was a new pack available which had my boy, and I have never felt so much joy getting a character I wanted, I love him and he's a bunch of fun to play
To clarify the air combo strategy with Mihawk, when you get good at executing it, let's Mihawk more or less trivialize the game, as air combo 2 does insane amounts of damage, and shreds armor gets even dumber when you add full force burst, which Mihawk can almost always be in because of how efficiently air combo 2 fills the gauge. It's also how I got my first 10,000 KO mission with an S rank in time still. It's legit busted and why I would personally put Mihawk in S+
@@YeahTheDuckweed The skill in the soul map the refills stamina on a launching attack and the 1,2 plunge air attack. You can chain it with a launching attack. Dash cancel to your heart's content. He maintains his blade charge during air attacks and it will remain until you drop the combo. If you can input the commands you can literally chain level 3 heavies at infinite. Assuming you don't flinch but his ground 1,1,2 has CRAZY range so, not even a problem if you avoid being swarmed.
Respect for the work put in to this. I really don't like the armor mechanic in this game. It feels like my hits aren't connecting. I want the power fantasy.
I absolutely love this game. For me Ace and Whitebeard are the ol' reliables. Whenever I had trouble S ranking something, I would just bust them out. I haven't used Oden or Cracker that much. I had no idea they were that good.
I'm honestly a little surprised you didn't mention the skill that increases break gauge damage (Herculean Strength I think it's called?) because goddamn that skill just shreds through boss break gauges like butter. Also, as someone who has spent plenty of time playing with Ace, although the hitbox on Flame Pillars can be a bit odd it just lasts so long after the cinematic animation that it can be used to extend combos if you act fast enough and catch them in the air. Overall, great video. Originally when I got PW4 when it came out I was a bit skeptical on the quality of the game due to the perceived lack of content and weird reworks to some characters I enjoyed, but now coming back to it and giving it more of a fair shake I've loved my time with the game. Feels like it fits more of a niche that focuses on the latter half of the series while PW3 is a more cohesive walkthrough of all portions of the story (up until Dressrosa).
As someone who picked up the game (and all dlc) one month befor they announced character pass 2...yeah this video is relevant since i only play smoothie luffy ( mostly to unlock his gears and still need to unlock snakeman since i thought the forms were in the luffy map not tied to story...yup im dumb)
Don't know if this happens to anyone else but I've noticed that the knife slashes in Mihawk's third combo deal a LOT more damage with lvl 1 charge compared to lvl 2.
One important aspect of Dragon Form Kaido you may have missed is: If you dash after using the Ice Special the ice will still fall as normal but will now charge his special meters including itself which turns him into a unstoppable sky god that can easily kill anything in the game.
Wow this is really good stuff Would it be possible if you could do one for PW3 as well? I know it’s kind of outdated but I still play it quite a lot hehe
Cavendish,Reijju and Kid were the only new characters i really enjoyed. Everyone else was fine but i didnt really enjoy them. So basically the combat mechancs of speed types are just Normal attack focused moveset like Samurai Warriors 4 and beyond?( never played the ones before so...), I didnt even realize that until you spoke about movesets. No wonder it felt slightly samey to me. Gear 5 is actually what put me off one piece personally. Its such a nonsensical change and form in function that i cant really take it seriously personally. Yamato is a cool choice though, nice to get more of her and she seems like she fits. The removal of characters like Garp is a CRIME and i will die on that hill. 4 was fun but idk, it felt too streamlined and the dream log being just a list instead of something like the islands of 3 felt lazy. I completed everything in 3 and 4, and in 4 i used and maxed out maybe... 5,6 characters? Going back to 3, ive maxed out over half the cast and still enjoy playing while after 100%' ing 4 i only really went back to it because of the free updates, saw it wasnt really all that much and stopped again. Glad people like 4 honestly, but idk i think im kinda done with one piece for a while. Form changes were also cool but if i remember correctly they still made choppers (and carrot) transforming ability into SPECIALS ONLY. That really felt like a waste to me. Tldr: i liked 3 and 4, have my issues with both but dont feel as invested in 4 as 3 and feel like 4 made some very weird design choices that didnt pay off. And if you like the game its cool. Enjoy the new content. Great video btw. Sorry for the rant in a probably unrelated vid.
- Yeah, the more I researched Speed Types the more they felt like normal attack spammers waiting to throw in a special after armour break. Some have good charge attacks but not all. - Haven't played the Dynasty/Samurai warriors games but definitely keen to try them out some day (maybe eventually every warriors game in existence if I can). - I can understand your take on Gear 5 but to me it was really refreshing and returned the series to its comedic roots while still having cool attacks. Much better than some boring edgy hakiman powerup or tree sap like some people were predicting. - The cut characters definitely suck but Garp is coming back in Pack 6 so maybe more will be back later? Still a bit late but oh well. - Dream Log was cool but I'll take quickly scrolling through a list over slowly walking from island to island any day. - Chopper, Franky and Carrot not having Form Changes is a definite travesty. Hawkins and Cracker also only change in specials but at least you can control them for the duration. Thanks for the comment, nice to read and not unrelated lol. :)
@@weewer3369 Which of us are you talking to with this comment? I mean..i 100%'d both 3 and 4 (except for characters because i didnt find the grind fun). Except i go back to 3 for fun while 4 i only go on when theres an update . So not sure how that constitutes giving up on it is all
15:00 which is exactly why i never use the skills, u should alway be at or near full health imo especiall in the later levels where enemies will destroy ur health bar if u get hit which is almost always going to happen on those levels.
This is amazingly in-depth content! Only asking because I feel like you'd know if anyone, do you know what the specific criteria for getting an s-tier is on a mission? I can't find any resources online.
The requirements change depending on the mission, but the usual amount of KOs needed is around ~2500-3000 depending on the mission, with True Pirate Warriors requiring 5000KOs. Time is pretty forgiving and you probably won't need to worry about it. True Pirate Warriors used to have a strict S rank time limit of about 13 minutes which made it hard to get 5000KOs in time for most characters so they increased it to somewhere around 18-20 minutes? (give or take a few). I wish this game had a menu option to check rank progress like PW3 did.
I loved playing Nami, if u play full offence her specials do insane damage, but shes takes soo much damage, so u use cheat on death, to do more damage.😍
damn someone who actually plays the game with more than 1 character did a proper tier list and review. Props to you. New update breaks everything you said in this video tho as the new Skills are OP and basically get run on everyone.
So, a couple of things. 1. Katakuri is without question the strongest character in this game. He's just got everything going for him. S++ is literally broken in the best way. 2. Blackbeard is best with a full special spam build. Ignore the counter, but the FFB is fine as an in-between while going from fight to fight or while waiting for your specials to fill. Also and this is a huge boost, using the skill Deadly Cadence (give invulnerability after special) makes him tank all damage while you suck up more fodder to instantly fill all your specials again. He's truly a monster when built properly. I use him a lot in the highest difficulty with zero issue. He's S+ tier minimum in every game he's in. 3. Crocodile was done so dirty in this game coming from PW3, where he was godly if played correctly. It's so sad to see all these uneedee mechanical changes unintentionally nerf otherwise perfect characters. 4. And this is a big one. Boa is one of the most busted characters in this game, only being beaten by Katakuri. If you utilize dash canceling to never use the final hits of her combos (Square string is pretty strong on its own on her) and play around her FFB she can literally stun lock EVERY SINGLE EMEMY IN THE GAME, while also fully bypassing armor. She's easily S++, go try it out, just like Teach, I've never had this pkaystyle fail on any difficulty level.
@@demonmechon8524 I did watch the full video. I just noticed some oversights with a few characters. This coming from me also playing a ridiculous amount of PW3 and PW4 as well. Other than those few characters and your top 3, I'd say I agree with you on most other points you made. Katakuri is top 1, Boa is the best stun lock character, and Teach is even better with Deadly Cadence.
@nwachukwuking4402 Ya, you don't know what you're talking about. In the manga sure, or if you're talking, just attack power. But they don't have all the things Katakuri has at his disposal. He's got terrific speed and power, with long combos. Armor breaks, the best heal in the game. 2 combo strings that his crazy AOE damage while also applying his Mochi status, which can be used to stun lock every character in the game while fully bypassing armor (Boa can also do this). Teach has hard CC gathering, high attack power, and can effortlessly nuke with specials endlessly. Please think before you post stuff you clearly don't know anything about, beyond "big guy do large damage." The mechanics in the game matter more than big number.
good tier list, but I do have an issue with the extremely high placement of some characters like Blackbeard and Usopp. Usopp isn’t terrible but not an S tier character at all. Blackbeard on the other hand is striaght up bad. You described him as only working in some situations, and then proceed to put in him S with characters that work in every situation. Doesn’t make much sense to me
that's some insane noob take my guy. blackbeard is S tier and up with the best, his specials can one shot normal enemies and he has instant special fill up and gets 2x damage on darkness.
Doflamingo surprised me the most because of my personal experience with him. Maybe there's something wrong with me or my game, but I swear it feels like he takes more damage than most other characters, and it drives me nuts because of how strong he's supposed to be. So I was expecting him somewhere in the mid-tier and was surprised to see him in S tier. And speaking of weird things in the game, I'm guessing you don't have a similar problem with Kid's Repel charge attack on the ground? For whatever reason, if I use it in certain spots on the map, the invisible boundaries between certain floor tiles or territories with make the metal arms explode prematurely. So it's been forcing me to use Repel in midair if I want any hope of using Kid to his full potential. So if it were up to me, I'd probably have put Doffy somewhere in B tier maybe, and Kid possibly in C. That's just how rough it gets for me sometimes. Though on the bright side, I had no idea about some of these tricks you could pull with certain characters, or that Law's Full-Force Burst makes him invincible. I want to play the game right away to test these things for myself. Like, I thought I knew everything I had found in the game, but I guess not. Though the infinite Cracker biscuit armor is something I only knew about because I pulled it off by accident and thought I broke the game somehow. Now that you explained the process, I wanna try to do it on purpose and test it as well.
The best skill is indomitable spirit no matter what you think.basically makes you invincible, especially with characters like luffy who have 3 transforms available
it's only the best skill when it comes to wanting to survive. if you're comfortable enough to not need it then Cheat Death would obviously be the best, giving you a 500% damage increase when in full effect
I started reading One Piece just before the new DLC was announced and got the game yesterday, so this is perfect timing! Excited to see more, subbed! :)

I just realized how long this video is
Respect your hardwork
Wow for someone that been playing this game from day one and seen a few tier list this is the most interesting one by far.
dude you deserve so much more recognition. you give so much information in a way thats so easy to understand and have so much game knowledge
Thanks, even as Pirate warriors veteran, I learned a few tricks like the joker parasyte trick.
This is THE Pirate Warriors 4 video, great job, keep em coming!
I'm so glad you and this video exists. Seriously I appreciate all this work so much.
This is such a good video I’ve been looking for more pw content with commentary and it’s so well made too awesome job!
I bought the game months ago but never played it yet. This video convinced me to start playing it
Thank you for spending so much time to make this!
Just tested and wow, this changes everything lol. Thanks so much for letting me know.
I wish they'd update pw3 too,even though it's older,it's because of the content
@@blackcat09tails55 i meant that an in depth tier list like this one would be interesting for pw3, especially since many characters there would be in completely different spots.
PW3 Tier List:
SSSSSS Tier: Whitebeard.
A Tier: Rest.
@@_ANDRE. Well actually, fujitora just uses R1 and takes a whole territory
@@yahazugiri7 I know. His meteor was broken, but Whitebeard does the same dmg and way bigger AOE with all his combos. Especially the 4 N 1 S.
Looking forward to you ranking the new ones as well. Good work
I’m gonna say this is most effort teir list I have seen for this game.
And Crocodile and Doffy lack moves that do that unfortunately.
@@ShadowknightEXNah that's fine. He was on the right idea when he said they should be built for the ground, I bet that's what the devs intended. It makes sense if only for the sake of variety.
Huge props to this video mate, awesome stuff! 100% agree with most choices
Love the analysis. Can't wait to hear what you think of the DLC Pass 2 units.
I also love to see that you included something like logia-invincibility, armor-break-time and stuff like that it's realy awesome
wow, surprisingly good.
Very well put together video!
to add: hancock's FFB animation also petrifies enemies, and for some reason they deal massive damage to armor broken enemies, almost comparable to her 4* special.
This creates a very stupid combo loop where you beat on a poor sod without your FFB, stunlocking them with chain petrifies, then finish them off by entering FFB, killing them by literally looking down on them.
Interesting, I'll be sure to test this for myself. Thanks!
Rad to learn about the different mechanics and good on you for labeling each of the characters. Wish Technique units were a lot more viable tbh
Thanks for this I've been meaning to get back in since the dlc drop its a good rundown of the characters I don't use
Franky's hair resets to the default buzzcut whenever he uses the General Franky and those are most of his specials. D tier.
Same with Smoothie being forced to put her hat back on after Form Changing, lol.
This was a great video, thx for the effort and boy am I gonna abuse that Cracker bug😂
This is a great video and very informative in learning how to ply each character. Thank you for doing this!
Bartolomeo's gimmick is also pretty useful for charging his meters from what I remember.
I remember doing meme setups where I would just spam one of his cinematic specials over and over again.
Really great video hope you do this for the dlc as well
thank you so much for this video, i love this game but don't feel like i know much about it, it's really fun to learn more
I usually play with the skills that increase resource gain, X/Y enhancement depending on the character, and the one that gives healing during FFB, which has been a lifesaver
but I might try this build! I've definitely started struggling in the last few treasure logs
I wanted to make a video myself about how we really need PW5 with Gear 5 front and center to make up for the incomplete nature of PW4, but now with the character pack AND gameplay updates im truly content
Also good on you for actually making the video you were planning (unlike me lol), great stuff here 👍🏽🎉
Why do people keep saying that pw4 is incomplete because they removed some characters? The game is not incomplete😑
@@nwachukwuking4402it is incomplete
Absolutly amazing video!
They're very hard, but that's only because you have to do them solo.
Strict time limit and objectives that make you run around the map, you see.
Also his special i believe it’s called pandemonium shreds through armour; as well as the 2nd string combo if you position well
Thanks for the vid! 👍
Might play him and cracker way more now
Carrot's exploit is a bit finicky, but I've narrowed it down to this:
The strong opponent you're trying to damage must be surrounded by minor enemies.

Thank you very much for showing me how disgusting Usopp is the net and flash dial are some of the most fun I've ever had playing this game
Great video, I wish PW3 had a video like this.
I feel that they oversimplyfied some things in PW4, like how you're no able to cancel dash/dodge offset.
@@Juanpvcool I miss the dodge cancel so much, also some characters (like Mihawk & Shanks) suffer heavily from the loss of their unique actions.
Interesting that you have so many hours in the game but still use On Land/Air/Special buff skills. People have run the math and for two skill slots they are super not worth it. Great video with that aside, very comprehensive!
Rage of lion is funny tho (I like 100% unconditional damage)
Funny enough, I enjoy playing Nami and Tashigi, but I don't enjoy playing Robin. But then again, I'm just playing casually.
Great video loved the whole thing The only issue was me being agitated watching you be at like 5% health during the entire video with every character, while AVOIDING ALL THE HEALTH ON THE MAP😊
He might be using the Cheat Death passive ability, which increases attack by how much HP is missing up to 500% when at or below 5% health
Personal bias.
so like you i am obsessed with these games. and its been installed ever since i bought it back in 2020. its a musou game with quick hop and in out mechanics. with most things being able to be fininshed in less then 30 minutes its fun even when you only haven a half houre to play. i just love it. i must admit that the strawhats are some of my least favorite characters in this game whilein PW3 they where some of my favorites i also miss the dreamlog.

This was a great video. I wonder if you'd want to do more videos on other musou games after this like pw3 or many of the other games
My Top 3 are Franky, Whitebeard and Smoothie

I am a Yamato main so if you ever need intel on why Yamato is the best character I'm right here, for the record I've engaged in PW4 a week ago and started playing on Ultra difficulty (🔥🔥🔥🔥) on day 3 with maxed out Yamato, so yeah I'd be happy to help just a bit with the amazing job you're doing, can't believe I just woke up to a 2 hours long video, thanks mate 😊
Love this so much
Insanely datelied video,well done!!
Akainu tries not to be a topi tier in a one piece game challenge Impossible
Excellent video. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the DLC when its all out!
Ive been hooked this update
I still remember a skill of another Warriors game
Every 100 KOs increase attack
sufice to say, its broken, there is a point where the attack gain overcome the tankiest mofos
You don't live in a strict samurai society that will kill you for suggestimg a woman can be in a position of power. Cut that out.
@@iBloodxHunterstatements dreamt up by the utterly insane
@@d00styTV I literally don't trust your judgement with the way zoomers lost their education.
She
i haven’t played this game in like 2 years me and my friend used to run around all the levels as big mom and kaido
Would be cool to see you rank more Warriors games.
Like Age Of Calamity, where i imagine Impa would be S.
Ah yes, the best sky type in the game in the game. Mihawk
But don't forget the second best sky type in the game...ace
Mihawk has an infinite charge 3 combo with the skill that refills stamina on launch attacks now!
@@iBloodxHunter OH, NO SHOT?!
@@YeahTheDuckweed Turns out burning resolve has been in the game the whole time. So he's had the infinite the whole time.
Respect for the work put in to this. I really don't like the armor mechanic in this game. It feels like my hits aren't connecting. I want the power fantasy.
my friend, the new shatter skill from the $4 dlc pack is for you
I absolutely love this game.
If you upgrade Mihawk you can find a skill that does the same thing but for one slot!
One important aspect of Dragon Form Kaido you may have missed is:
If you dash after using the Ice Special the ice will still fall as normal but will now charge his special meters including itself which turns him into a unstoppable sky god that can easily kill anything in the game.
The Dash is what refills the gauges, not the Ice.
I guess thats possible, but I meant a quick dash cancel not the continuous dash@@demonmechon8524
Wow this is really good stuff
Would it be possible if you could do one for PW3 as well?
Seems like you gave up on the game early and didn't really give it a fair shot
Thanks so much! At least now I don't have to trial and error it myself.
Why did they make sky types even have GROUND ONLY specials?! Literally what were they even thinking?!
I loved playing Nami, if u play full offence her specials do insane damage, but shes takes soo much damage, so u use cheat on death, to do more damage.😍
1:04:17 is jinbei t posing
damn someone who actually plays the game with more than 1 character did a proper tier list and review. Props to you. New update breaks everything you said in this video tho as the new Skills are OP and basically get run on everyone.
I've been looking for a video like this since the game came out, thank you so much❤
You didn’t emphasize that Whitebeard has ludicrous travel speed. Considering its top 5 if not 1 or 2 it’s worth mentioning
I'm researching Boa more currently but everyone else's placements are explained in the video. Next Tier List will shake things up a lot though.
No the strongest characters in the game are kaido, big mom and white beard period everyone is under them and I mean everyone no one is on they level
Katakuri is indeed #1 in this game. Having him as number 11 is crazy talk.
I just found about Cracker glitch. Imma rock him out now.
good tier list, but I do have an issue with the extremely high placement of some characters like Blackbeard and Usopp.
I tried doflamingo for the *second* time last night while I was farming souls and he's actually a MONSTER
My girl tashigi got killed. She was my favorite in pw3 😢
Back then ive seen shanks in s tier not in D? This is confussing
I miss playable characters like enel kuma and magellan. I whish that the would take them instead of sanjis brothers
Skipped to the tier list segment. As soon as I saw oden *AND* akainu in the top tier, I knew I had to watch the whole video
