  • My wedding ring is 2 spoons made very much the same way as this ring. I was in an elevator and a doctor asked me what arm/leg I had to sell in order to buy the ring. I then explained... well, I bought the spoons which is the base for $50.00 and the top pieces came off of a watch that my grandmother owned. His jaw dropped... he asked for a card and said he was going to show his wife a picture he took of the ring.
    Why not make your spoon rings unique? Here's how I do.

    I loved the way you designed this spoon ring… I’m a jewelry designer and silversmith instructor. I loved how you really explained the process you use to break down the the design to turn this spoon into a ring. I’m hoping you made the second ring. Anyway, I loved your video… thank you, Autumn Michelle

    We actually use silver cutlery for every occasion that is not ordinary. I believe everyone at my age, unlesss they are poor, have 12-24 sets of silver. We also have plates and crystal that we only use at fine occasions.
    As silver was used as gifts for christenings, weddings and confirmations, a lot of people have only one or two and they are just collecting dust, so I think it’s cool to make them into something you can actually use.
    I have inherited, I kid you not, two huge cardboard boxes of silver cutlery from gazillion ancestors. They just sit there, so I need to get ideas how to reuse them.

    This is so beautiful....I love it. I'm afraid my soldering skills would make this difficult, but I want to try it!!

      Give it a try! You never know! And you can start using silver plate spoons or other various materials first to work on soldering... then go to a sterling piece.

    Really wish you would like to slow it down so we can see your craftsmanship. We just my soul fast forward to the end of the video and you see the end result because the whole idea of watching you do this is the watch you do this.

      I'll keep this in mind for future videos for sure. I guess I think fast forwarding certain parts will help with some monotony but I also feel showing the full clip would be helpful.. maybe I'll do a shortened version and then a full one along with it. thank you for your insight.

    Nice job I hate when the torches go out like that.Happens all the time and a fish tank Genius.
    Why Didi think of that? No more getting covered with polish or metal Flakes.

    On a sterling silver ring, I think you would have done a authentic sterling silver stone.

    Can I ask what you used to connect the 2 halves together? Is it just a normal solder or some special type for these type of metals ?

  • @NinaGordoncrain-mh6rk
    @NinaGordoncrain-mh6rk 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    As for soldering here…I use tiny cut pieces. Much more tedious. What is that rounded tool you have wonder on?? Pls explain. Looks like far better way. Do you melt solder on a tool…then heat and melt it off where you need a dab? Great videos.

    • @TwoManyProjects
      @TwoManyProjects  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The tool I use is a pick from Harbor Freight. I bought some other dental picks off of Amazon and Ebay also, (Ebay because you can get the actual dental picks that are long and do not stick to the solder). The flux helps the solder sitck to the pick and thats what I uses. I hope this helps and thank you...

    Thank you for your video. May I ask...? Would it hurt or help wrapping a somewhat thick piece of leather around the ring sizer you are hammering on as to not scratch the inside of the ring? Thank you, kindly.

    • @TwoManyProjects
      @TwoManyProjects  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the Shank sizer or ring sizer is smooth and not scuffed up itself, then it should cause any scuffs. The leather might actually cause sizings to be a hair off. But if your ring sizer is causing scuffs, then try it there is no harm.

    This ring is very very nice 👍 Would you mind telling me what kind of solder you used? And what metal was around the crystal stone ? I’m so curious

    • @TwoManyProjects
      @TwoManyProjects  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, sorry for the late reply, I am using a silver solder (called easy silver solder, so I believe it's a 56% silver content....). Also the bezel for the stone is also sterling silver. I learned along the way mixing metals doesn't work out too well (in regards to soldering, it's always easier to use similar metals, unless it's brass/copper/silver since they all have similar heating capabilities (based on thickness though).

    New here, i can't get my souldering down!How do you clean it up after soldering?

    • @TwoManyProjects
      @TwoManyProjects  ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean by cleaning up? Pickle will clean the flux off the piece, after you've soldered... I hope that is what you mean.

      Sorry for a late reply... hhmmm... wood. I'm not sure! Honesty, I've never used used a wood one, it might work the same as leather.

    Are you using regular sober, or is it sterling as well?

    • @TwoManyProjects
      @TwoManyProjects  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, I think you mean solder? It is a sterling solder, I use medium there is also an easy flow and a hard solder (it's all measured based on the flow rate, and the amount of silver in it). I hope this helps.

    • @TwoManyProjects

      You don't need to use sterling silver spoons to make a spoon ring like this. But I will be very careful with my titles (and always have tried to be).

    Do you have to anneal silver plated pieces when making rings out of those?

    • @TwoManyProjects
      @TwoManyProjects  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So, annealing silver plated pieces can be interesting. For some, the top coating might burn off an 'blister' ... but then when you buff the ring, you don't see the blistering. So... I anneal none silver rings all the time and I think I did a video of doing some... but if not, I will soon!

    Can you anneal stainless steel? Would love to know! Thanks so much for your videos!!

    • @TwoManyProjects
      @TwoManyProjects  ปีที่แล้ว

      You know.. I've never tired, but I would think you'd be able to because a lot of jewelry is made of stainless (it's the new 'silver'.. a lot of people now are working with this metal).
