This is one of the best if not THE best guitar lesson among the hundreds I’ve watched. Sean Daniels has an innate ability to teach, and is funny while doing it.
I played pro Blues harp for many years & picked up guitar some years ago. I've written & performed plenty of songs but found Blues guitar somewhat illusive. Ok so I balked at the vid's title, it seems an outlandish gimmicky claim, but must say Sean you're truly a brilliant & masterful instructor. Thanks so much, this is gold!
After more than 50 years playing the guitar and 35 or more on banjo, that little blue diagram you placed on the fret board is the best thing I've ever seen for teaching. Great job.
I’ve been playing guitar for 20yrs and this is absolutely the best guitar lesson video I’ve seen. Thank you for sharing. I understand people learn in different ways, and the way you teach makes sense to me.
Normally when someone with 'the knowledge' fast fires a lesson, I just end up bewildered, knowing there was valuable information in there somewhere but unable to unravel it. Sean you have the ability to pour out pure gold at a fast rate and my brain just soaked it up, this is great stuff, it's sold like a cheat sheet but it's real music theory in a blues tone. My brain got it all, it's my fingers that are just trying to keep up. Great stuff, thanks.
Why do people have to hate on the clickbait? The only people mad about it are people who already know enough shit about the blues to know it's a baity title anyway, not the kind of people who would actually learn something from it. The man has content and needs to draw attention to his videos. I support it.
This channel is the only one where I can watch your videos and understand what you're talking about off the bat. I graduated TH-cam academy in guitar, and I've suffered through the too easy and the too hard lessons. What I love about yours is that anybody could learn from it. Keep it up and never ever ever ever stop lest my guitar strings oxidize.
Thanks! For a guy like me, this beginners lesson allows me to play a sound that is good to listen to and fun to play. It keeps me interested in learning more.
A lot of videos "play" their explanation and expect you to understand the theory by hearing THEM play. The "I played it for you and now you should know" type videos. Your video actually used spoken words on why, not just how.. You're a great communicator. Thank you.
Well, the first line of the blues is the same as the second line I said the first line of the blues is the same as the second line The third line’s slightly different And the fourth line has to rhyme

You are right .i taught about 3 people to play guitar , just starting with AD and E.then maybe one of the pentatonic scales .BUT i had a buddy who ( to put it his way ) wanted to learn properly with music reading .I told him he would find it hard .In the end he gave up.All he really wanted to do was learn to play blues with a little bit of lead thrown in.

I'm sorry did Joe Bonamassa grow up in the delta being treated like shit all his life because he was black? oh no I didn't think so. did he work on a plantation plowing fields and picking cotton? oh no I didn't think so. Did Joe Bonamassa watch his friends and family get lynched? oh no I didn't think so. that's what makes real blues so special, when it's none right by a real blues man it conveys those feelings and experiences. that's the feeling in the blues. Wow, this is lesson is like a translation between musicians and beginners. You taught not only how to practice but how to create a pattern of how music works and how to communicate it. Thank you!
I've dabbled with guitar for over 20 years, and I've recently released my rhythm sucks, I spend to much time on lead stuff. This video is gold to me! Thank you 👍🏻
That my man was a great lesson of basics!! Every teacher should take a lesson from you in sensible ways to relay a message. Much appreciated and sincere thanks. Deano
Looking at the comments I see a lot of light bulbs went off so I’m not alone. Only been playing a year and have been through 1000’s of TH-cam’s. This one short lesson allows me to make music plus (understand it!) and experiment changing it up with ease. Many thanks!
On the third time around, something clicked. Melody created in a pattern of 1, 4, 5 is Blues. I am a perennial beginner and cannot play Chords other than E and A and here it is you can make blues in whichever way your Heart pleases and your limitations matter the least. Your unstructured self learning makes way for an uncluttered teaching approach. Un-seemingly almost like stealth you introduced 1 4 5 and a turnaround emphasising their Origin from a scale and then showing how only those notes too are enough to make your “blues” go away. A poor-middle-aged-beginner-since-forever can also have something to do. Much appreciated Sir 🙏🙏🙏
Dude sounds like Kevin Spacey... Nice to see I'm not the only one thinking in shapes, shame I don't know all the theory behind it all though! Thanks for the vid!
Hey Sean, maybe you can help me to find out what is the name or how do you call it when a blues get stuck all the time on 1st chord, not evolving to 4th and 5th, no progression. Thx in advance!
You know I'm not sure if there's a name for that, I think you'd just call it however many bars of 1? Not sure but if I hear something I'll let you know!
Sean Daniel Now, it's an Epiphone group, so if you could do a video with an Epi I could post it on the main page and a metric shit-ton of folks would see it...
Excellent lesson!!!!!!! You made that very cool pattern so easy with just a touch of theory so I don’t have to just memorize it. We all watch a lot of these guitar 'how to’s’ online and every now and then you find one that’s really really helpful and this one was a real pearl….. thanks
martyisabeliever the point is you can move that same shape to E or A or G it doesn’t matter the shape works in any key. You should listen to what the man says more carefully
I think all you guys who are bitching over the title are acting like losers. No one in their right mind would take that title literally. Not because it's about the blues - "learn every in 8 minutes" is just not a literal title. Lighten up and learn to have some fun without having to be the center of attention. Or, even better - before you start tearing down what others are trying to do, get your own videos out here. Maybe you're right - maybe you can do it way better. And then you *will* get to be the center of attention. But put up or shut up. Sean, I'm enjoying the videos quite a lot. Learning some stuff here and there, but also just enjoying the entertainment. Keep it up, man.
Sean. Reading through the comments I was rather surprised at all the negativity (guess I shouldn't be - this is TH-cam after all). I for one appreciate what you are doing... and do not feel duped (did I really think I'd get all the blues in 8 minutes - no - just a tip or two to get me thinking - and that I got!) This video made clear the 1-4-5 etc. Well worth the 8 minutes for most people. Thank you. Keep posting!
thanks a bunch Sean!!! a sign of a great teacher is KISS ... you kept it simple... for my old skool mind,,,LOL i... after 50 years, i am finally learning to play!! thank YOU !!!
Sketch the 12 bars out onto staff paper (12 bars) and you can cut and paste the I, IV, and V chords to hear how simple blues progressions can become works of art. Use a rhythm source (a drum machine or a friend who can keep rhythm), then create melodies etc. Wow! Try telling a story about your condition. Got blues?
Sean, you're a great player, good tutor and we need people like you. I'm glad you let the fools go by without getting to you. You win, they lose every time.

+Simão Samouco Yeah for sure, I'll get working on it!
This is GOLD
+Anthony Verduzco Happy to help, thanks for watching!
Wow, that one was a clear explanation. Subbed :)
Welcome to the party!
I've dabbled with guitar for over 20 years, and I've recently released my rhythm sucks, I spend to much time on lead stuff.
This video is gold to me! Thank you 👍🏻
I've spent months watching theory and this video just put it together for me. I need practice but things make much more sense. Thank you
Less is more..Thank you,amazing lesson!!
Right on Peter!
brillant lesson thank you
+martin evans Thanks for watching!
Sean Daniel
it was great lesson thank you again
You don't learn the blues by just playing it, you have to feel it in your soul to learn it.
Preach!
I thought blues players sold their souls to the devil?
That my man was a great lesson of basics!! Every teacher should take a lesson from you in sensible ways to relay a message. Much appreciated and sincere thanks. Deano
Oh my goodness. I've been waiting for this lesson since I've learned how to play. ..you made it so easy thank you! !!
Bro!! Great tip, no bullshits, interesting tips 😂😀
Nice, I'm an instant subscriber
Welcome to the party Steve!

Nope, you are not alone. Ever heard of the CAGED system?
Happy to help! I prefer Keyser Soze though :)
One of my favourite movies!
6:19 always a good advice for girls.

you bunch of haters! I would have loved to have these video's available when I started out.
Thanks for watching Klaas!
Thank you Soooooo
much. This is by far one of the easiest lessons to follow.
You have really opened up my guitar playing to a new level.
Cheers again.
So cool to hear!
Just came across your channel. Been a player for 20 years. Appreciate your powerfully simplistic approach to teaching. Thanks!
@@seandaniel23 modal?
Yet another sub, and I will be posting in my 6000+ member Facebook guitar group about you. At least some should be as impressed as I am.
So cool! I appreciate you spreading the word!
Sean Daniel Now, it's an Epiphone group, so if you could do a video with an Epi I could post it on the main page and a metric shit-ton of folks would see it...
Why U at the end of every sentenceU ? PlumsU?
It's my signature quirk.
Sean Daniel
You mean “quirkU”
Excellent lesson!!!!!!! You made that very cool pattern so easy with just a touch of theory so I don’t have to just memorize it. We all watch a lot of these guitar 'how to’s’ online
and every now and then you find one that’s really really helpful and this one was a real pearl….. thanks
Thanks so much for reaching out! I'll keep em coming!
A well explained and easy to understand lesson. Thanks Sean. I like your style!
+chordstrummer guitar2017 Great to hear it helped! Thanks for reaching out!
Blues, not 12-bar: John Lee Hooker - Boom Boom. 12-bar, not Blues: The Twist - Chubby Checker. Categories are a deep hole. :-)
"12 bar Blues in A I-IV-V
martyisabeliever the point is you can move that same shape to E or A or G it doesn’t matter the shape works in any key.
Thanks so much man, I'll keep it up!
KipIngram na its a bullshit title
Thanks so much for reaching out :) I'll keep it up!
thanks a bunch Sean!!! a sign of a great teacher is KISS ... you kept it simple... for my old skool mind,,,LOL i... after 50 years, i am finally learning to play!! thank YOU !!!
So great to hear Ken!
Sir are you canadian or french? i notice you end with a vowel sound on your words a lot. lol just curious.
Nope! Born in Chicago, the vowel sound thing is just something I've always done for whatever reason :)
Ya hes sounds like a French Canadian such as myself haha
Sketch the 12 bars out onto staff paper (12 bars) and you can cut and paste the I, IV, and V chords to hear how simple blues progressions can become works of art. Use a rhythm source (a drum machine or a friend who can keep rhythm), then create melodies etc. Wow! Try telling a story about your condition. Got blues?
Right on Rick, great idea and thanks for watching.
Ubetcha!
I tried playing “Sitting on Top of the World” with this. Didnt work.
Must not be a blues song.
It's a actually a bluegrass song

Sean, you're a great player, good tutor and we need people like you. I'm glad you let the fools go by without getting to you. You win, they lose every time.
Can't keep a good man down :)
Keep on truckin
Best lesson I've seen in a while. First time I've been click baited and not felt dirty.
Nothing says blues music like an african american in linen shirt
omg, I just learned the blues
You liar! I watched this video, but still can't play any Hendrix
Then you're gonna have to watch this! th-cam.com/video/mg7qSO5DwjM/w-d-xo.html
oh my gosh this is the clearest guitar video i have ever seen, thank you so much
