  • After 93 years in business, Tony's Ybor Restaurant will be closing next month. The third-generation owner, Larry Scaglione, said he would miss his loyal customers.

    Some of the commenters here suggesting he's not being honest about why he's closing. Seems to me he's worked a long time at this generational passed down business.
    I believe his reason. As I myself had a deli in Clearwater and Largo. Food business is a LOT of hours, ESPECIALLY when it's your OWN business. No one can run it like ourselves PERSONALLY 😉

    Why would you not sell your restaurant? Don’t just close the doors and walk away.

    Doesnt sound straight, when all he would need to do is to pull in a successor and gradually hand-over or simply get staff. Something doesnt quite add up here.

      I don't get it either. Sounds like publicity stunt combined with lack of interest (no successors or enough customers). Why the news story if he's not closing due to robberies, dash and dine, covid, inflation etc? I'm guessing he wants to try to salvage some business by posting this news story as advertising.
