I forgot to add, another reason there is so much traffic in Pattaya is the motorcycles delivering 7/Eleven and takeaway food orders. Thais used to walk to the shops, not any more.

Bolt is the go , that’s why not many taxis left … on app you get choice , taxis, bikes , lady drivers for those ladies travelling, about 6 options , all diff prices, now if price 87 b just round up to 100 it’s cheap enough…. Pratumnak before covid to central festival used to be 200 b in air con car now 90 bolt 5 years later so have a heart guys if slow traffic give 120 but please don’t ask for small change back they are a good service and better then old taxis mafia so support system

I have had some bad experiences with Bolt, not arriving, arriving at the wrong place or arguing over price. And then, stuck in a traffic jam. I just prefer the simplicity of the bike.

Why do so many people buy bulky pickups (light trucks, 2 and a half door)? Because they are cheaper with lower sales tax. You get more bulk for the buck. And they run Diesel engines with low standard for exhaust cleaning. Ridicolous policy. Originally meant for the farmers, layman, delivery they now clog small cities all over. Clog parking garages with those. They are ugly and combined with excessive import tax Thailand has some of the most boring/dull car scenery on the roads.
You have to go to the rich hot spots to see nice fancy cars.
Most of those 4x4 are modfied from the pickup. Have rigid rear axle with leaf springs!!

Called a girl to Soi Buakhao (Treetown) on a rainy Saturday evening. She then told me that she is on Phratumnak Soi 5!. First she waited long to get a Bolt and in total took about 40 minutes for 3.5 km!! Next point on the checklist: ask beforehand where she is and how she wants to come :>)
Don't believe you can easily get a BOLT when it's rainy and/or traffic is clogged.

On topic of face Phil is correct again , my drivers from airport I use all have massive ford Everest, I used to say great for me but too much in fuel for driving business… illogical, of course I never said that but their answer always is ohhhh comfort for driver etc , basically excuse to drive massive car with just me in it , I pay 1500 but I have regular driver as couple times per month yearly, u can book online for 1000 it’s cruel give more than that tolls petrol have a heart , the reason it’s that cheap it’s supposed to be a one off deal then when u say I like your service they will say can use all the time 1500 etc near enough, poor work model because most farang will abuse that system, I fly enough and sit next to enough people in airports to hear their stories that get pleasure in telling me about their homes in Sydney worth 3 mil and how they screw over the Thais , I find it sickening I’ve heard it all , their good people Thais they can be treated appropriately on my standards

I use motorbike taxis most of the time, and over 73 holidays since 1988 have never been involved in an accident. Mostly it's the girl or girls in tow who want to use Bolt. Another aspect of "face"; arriving somewhere in a car instead of walking or taking a motorbike taxi. One exception was visiting Paul Patterson's restaurant in Soi Yensabai by car because that soi was always clogged with Kuwaiti motorbike racers.
