    I lived in Pattaya for a while and walked around many areas at night and never felt any fear of being robbed or assaulted. The biggest problem is some of the soi dogs barking at you but even that was rare. Compared to Angeles City in the Philippines which I only visited 3 days and came back to Pattaya because of how unsafe I felt. Take care Phil.

      Thanks Darren. I've never been to the Philippines so couldn't comment, but you are right, a very rare occurrence in Pattaya.

      That's true, I am a longtime visitor to Pattaya since 1996 and I never felt any fear at night. Most troubles in Pattaya are made by drank foreigners not by Thai people.

    The tales of death and just bizarre criminal incidents in Pattaya are way more than such a relatively small place population wise merits.
    I remember about 15 years ago, maybe more, there was a story in I think the Pattaya mail about this alcoholic Scottish guy in his late 40's who'd gone broke and lost his like 2k a month baht 'home' and was homeless living rough.
    Anyway, he had a deckchair on the beach and would just sit there with like a 12 pack in his sunnies, baseball cap and t shirt. A tourist noticed he was getting really badly sunburned and thought he'd fallen asleep as he wouldn't respond. Turned out when the police and ambulance arrived he was dead and had been for over 24 hours as rigomortis had set in.
    So all these people and kids etc enjoying their day at the beach and there's this dead guy in a deckchair that no one even notices.
    According to the article they were trying to identify him but seemed no one really knew him except as the homeless drunk falang.
    I feel Pattaya can be hella cold if you lose your way.

    I walked past while the ambulance and police were there, and there was a huge crowd. Not being a "rubber-necker" I didn't stop, and only knew what had gone on from social media later.
    It's sadly typical for Thais to crowd around and take photos, and even often callously ask "jeb mai?"

    • @LePubPattaya
      @LePubPattaya  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was pretty shocking. I took one photo from a distance and you couldn’t even see the victim, just the crowds. It’s sad that, as you say, some Thais offer no privacy, although it’s their country I suppose.

    • @MrMairu555
      @MrMairu555 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LePubPattaya Yeah, wasn't calling you a rubber-necker, Phil, it was just the hoards of people crowding round taking photos and videos. See it at RTAs there all the time... even seen videos shared in Thailand of people trapped in wreckage. Thais are very macabre.

    I remember this tragic murder. I was there a while after it happened. The body was gone but the blood was there and the 7-11 staff were washing the blood away.
    I was a Met officer at the time and dealt with many murders and I
    remember being absolutely shocked that there was no crime scene after a murder.
    Another time, I walked past a scene where a girl had just been shot and killed by an ex boyfriend on beach road. The crime scene was two chairs placed around the blood just after the body was taken away.
    RIP both girls.

      Fatty, it was part of my life here and this channel documents my life and experiences. I think it was worth pointing out my reaction as a bar manager at the time and also the speed at which the scene was cleaned up, contrasting that with a similar incident in the West.

    Yes, it seems that the Thais in general seem to have a more casual attitude towards violent death than we farangs; I may have witnessed a murder myself one Songkhran in Soi Cowboy which was packed with people at the time - two groups of Thais got into it and I saw a fellow get bashed very hard in the head with a beer bottle - he went down like a rock and was stomped further when he hit the ground. Someone managed to break it up and the inert Thai was tossed into the back of a car which then left - I read about this incident on social media the next day and the fellow had apparently died in hospital.

    It sickens me that thai's and the media would rather video the incident that help the victim, I was walking along Jomiten beach one day and i noted a crowd of people looking over a young boy who was lifeless and had been dragged onto the shore. Only thing that they were doing was taking photos and videos. By the time the ambulance arrived , He was dead. maybe if someone had tried to stop the blood flow from the lady outside of the 7/11, Then maybe the lady would still be around. Even when people kills themselves, People are taking photos and posting on Facebook, Remember a lad hung himself from the tree over the road from my wife's family shop, Photos were all over facebook and like you say , They just clean up the area like nothing has happened. Now their are facebook reporters riding shot gun in the ambulance and live streaming horrific accidents. ......... Anyways , Keep safe Phil
