Ok hear me out, I like long Remilia, it has the most charisma of the Remilia's . Also, Tewi was my 1st fumo. I got her because the lucky bunny was one of my favorite Touhou girls, I also always pick her in PoFV. Before every job interview and project meeting with contractor I would go to I would always ask Tewi to wish me luck, and low and behold they would call me back. She my lucky fumo so among the fumo family I have now, she will never be sold.
Clicked on this video because someone shared a GIF of touhou plushies going "fumos? yes ok yep" and provided absolutely 0 context. I genuinely did not expect my google search to hit anything but here we are. I did already collect touhou CD's, i guess it's time to start on these now. Cheers.
Wow, you just made me feel really lucky about buying Tewi back in 2016. I had to hug her and shake her little hand right away. I just remember thinking, "oh look it's one of those Fumo dolls, and it's at a more reasonable 40-50 dollars. I like Tewi, alright I'm buying." All I have is Patchy and Tewi fumos. What I've really wanted for a long while now is the Inu Sakuya fumo and Nendoroid Cirno plush. Whenever I try looking for them I get nothing. Guess I'll have to take the popularity of these things more seriously if I ever see another that I must have. If they ever do a Koakuma fumo, I will not miss it!

When I first got into Touhou merch and didn't know where to look, I wanted a Mokou Fumo because she was(and still is) my favorite Character... so I went on Amazon. Every listing was at, bare minimum, 1000 USD. I decided to go with a Marisa instead.
Gift released new deka fumos of Reimu and Marisa a few days ago. The **retail price** is around 460 US dollars each. This would probably double once they go out of production and begin reselling as collectibles. So, the hardcore fumo collectors out there should snag the new dekas ASAP, because they likely won't ever find them for less. All others need not apply. Edit: apparently they're taking orders only till 8 June. So if you want to buy the dolls for the retail price, you better do it quickly.
Wanted to come back to this video because honestly it was so helpful in getting me into Fumos. Now that I've started making my own Fumo videos, I hope I can make something that helps someone years later like you have. Even thought this video is 4 years old now, thank you for making this. Btw I will say the bit at the end about making your own helped me so much.

I would utilize something like fromjapan (a proxy service), and just search up something like ふもふも東方 (fumofumo touhou). Fromjapan has a search aggregate function which allows you to search a large variety of sites which is nice. The problem with finding a tewi is that if it's a buy it now listing, you're oftentimes competing with native japanese people, who do not have to go through a proxy. But regardless, I would say the best way to go about it, is utilize something that has a search aggregate function for japanese selling sites, like fromjapan, bookmark the page, and then just periodically check up on the link to see if theres new listings.
Damn, I must have really lucked out. I got a Tewi fumo a couple years ago for a little over $50. It's the only fumo that I own but it is a precious part of my collection. Complete with butt-tag and a lovingly detailed seam.
For TOM and AmiAmi, they usually rely on Gift to supply them with fumos directly. Usually how it goes is, Reitaisai happens, fumos are released then, soon after Gifts online orders ship out, after that, then Gift provides excess stock to places like Akiba Hobby, and marketplaces like TOM and AmiAmi. If you use TOM or AmiAmi you have to wait until just after reitaisai, and check in periodically to see whats available. However, AmiAmi specifically has not had any new fumos released for quite a while, as it seems that they may have stopped carrying them all together. Another option if you want cheaper fumos, is to use Mercari, think of it almost as a japanese ebay, where everything is buy it now. You can usually find very good deals there, as every couple of days someone lists a fumo for 3000-4000 yen (27-37 usd). However you gotta use a proxy to order, I would suggest Dejapan, solely due to them not having commission fees. If you wanna search up fumos on mercari, just use "ふもふも 東方" without the quotation marks, and youll get all fumo merch on there. Theres also of course yahoo auctions japan and surugaya, which can also be used to find good deals, however still, you have to go through a proxy, which can raises costs due to international shipping. tl;dr, TOM and AmiAmi get stock after reitaisai (amiami seemingly doesnt anymore) there are other options but they usually are a bit more expensive.

Hello! I want to ask, do you think there will be another re-release anytime happening this year? There was a re release at January and February, and I think generally rereleases happen around two months per year but I feel like the months were 'too close together' thus making me believe that there will be a re release sometime later during the year. I want to ask a fumo expert if that's the case, because I want to go to Japan sometime during the year and get a fumo, since I don't have any. Do they also release new batches in Comiket?
That's a very good question. Major re-releases typically only happen during spring and fall reitaisais, to coincide with the release of a new fumo, like with shion this passed spring reitaisai or tenshi in the fall one prior. Said re-release really can be any pre-existing fumo. The major re-release that happened at the beginning of this year however, with fumos like satori, yuyuko, and aya getting re-released was more of an anomaly, and was *probably* due to an overabundance of stock for those specific characters. Outside of that however, there *generally* are a few *small* re-releases that aren't advertised throughout the year, usually just of one character at a time however (theres a preorder available right now for aya, and only aya for instance). As for sale during comiket, you may be lucky in finding some, but as for a guaranteed re-release for that time period, it is difficult to say. However, do not fret, I myself just went over to Japan in June, and thus can provide to you all the info you would need for buying fumos while there. Within Akihabara there are several stores that you should check out, Akiba hobby is almost entirely dedicated to touhou, and will almost ALWAYS have the most recent re-release and is guaranteed to have at least some fumos, with almost all being retail price (3700 yen or so) (also dont worry about finding them, the store itself is rather small, and the fumos are quite easy to find). Alongside newer characters there is the potential to find older, rarer ones (when there I found and bought a blazer Reisen). Outside of Akiba Hobby there aren't really any stores where there is a 100% chance of finding a fumo. Surugaya is probably your next best bet however, there are several surugayas that could have fumos, including the Surugaya by Akihabara station, and the 7 story complex (there is a floor solely for plushies, should be floor 6, found and bought a Suwako there for retail price) which is located next to Mandarake complex, there is also the surugaya in shinjuku (its on the 4th floor of a big mall) which has a big wall of secondhand plushies. Furthermore, one of the surugayas in Osaka had a large amount of v1 fumos when I went there. As just previously mentioned, Manadarake complex is also another place that could have fumos for sale, I managed to find a Sanae there, but that was it, and it was overpriced (however still cheaper than it would be to buy from america). Another store that I had luck in was Kbooks, a store located within radio kaikan in Akihabara, it dominates an entire floor and has a load of merchandise, however very little of it was touhou related. The fumos that were there were located by the rear register, by the downward escalator (its also next to one of the entrances to the porn section), however, do note, the fumos there are ALL the same price of 6480 yen, so unless you are lucky and find a rarer, generally more expensive fumo (i found and bought a hatate there) you have better options. Finally within Akihabara you have lashingbang, a thrift store near radio kaikan, I had no luck in finding fumos there, however, Yumemey, told me that he has had luck in the past with regards to finding fumos there, within the store in the back corner there is a big bin full of plushies, so if any are there, they would be in that corner. Finally, I must say, that you WILL KNOW if there are fumos within comiket prior to you going to it, as when you acquire the catalog for comiket, you will be able to see not only if gift is there, but also if any official reseller of fumos are there as well (however I would not bet on it). If you have ANY other questions, or want me to clear up ANYTHING regarding what I've said, please do not hesitate to ask, and I will be more than glad to answer it!

I am happy that there are at least some fumos in Akiba hobby because the only listing they had in their website was Aya (which I want to get, she is so cute) and I thought she was the only one available. I am also looking forward to surugaya, because not only there are fumos but also figurines that I want to get of Touhou as well. Also, how do I get a catalog for comiket when it ever comes? I want to see what re released Touhou fumos there are (if they ever come to comiket), and other stores like akiba hobby might sell the fumos after the event ends. Ill also wait for the autumn reitaisai to see if there are any more releases.
@@reversed_wheel_of_fortune For most major conventions (which comiket most certainly is) catalogs are sold all throughout akihabara, furthermore, you can order it through a proxy service if you want it before your arrival. Stores that sell them vary, but usually surugaya, and mandarake alike have it, but plenty of other stores will have them too, and will probably have some sort of signage advertising such. Also yeah, akiba hobbys website says they only have aya, because thats the only one that is currently up for pre-order, whence the pre-order period for her is over, then she'll be off the website. When I went there was no fumos listed on their website, however they had in stock several cirnos, tan cirnos, mokous, ayas, satoris, and yuyukos, as well as a few yukaris, and the blazer reisen. They always have fumos in stock, just really depends on what, but you should be able to find aya, due to her relatively common nature. Also for touhou figurines and statues within surugaya the same rules really apply, your best bets are the akihabara station, and 7 story complex (floor 5 has touhou stuff, its on the directory, dont worry), as well as the shinjuku one, however the touhou section there is pretty small. Another place you should go for touhou merchandise is Akibaoo store 3, its squirreled away in a basement in akihabara, but alongside akiba hobby, its really the only other touhou centered store in akihabara, and really all of tokyo (the un owen bar doesnt really count seeing as its a bar, but i would highly recommend going there as its a very cozy bar), most big time stores might have a little bit of touhou merchandise, but outside of the stores that i pointed out in the first post and this post, theres not a whole lot of places that have touhou stuff regrettably

I bought my first fumo, and it's a bootleg reimu. However, I really love it! Not only is it smaller than I expected, which is a little cute, but it's a smiling reimu- the first one I have ever seen. I really love my fumo, and I treasure it already.
What are conventions which happen in the summer where i can buy a fumo? I go to japan sometimes for the summer holiday and planning to 2022 i would be really greatful to know where to go to buy a fumo in japan even as another option to the shops.

I've seen a dozen amount of them in the internet. And I can safely say that there are indeed some top quality bootlegs, starting from Reimu and Koishi being the most identical with Gift's variant. Others are just plain bootlegs, and I mean BOOTLEGS. They are Marisa, Flandre, Alice, Patchy, and Meiling being the worst out of them.

That's a very good deal, overall the price for tewi didn't really skyrocket until the past year and a half or so, but even in 2017 that is a pretty damn good deal. Also I don't think I've ever even SEEN a bootleg tewi, at all, or reisen for that matter. Probably due to the ears being too much for the bootleggers to make... Have you seen the latest announcement for the latest fumo plushies, where they are bringing in medium sized plushies? Seems like you might need to make an update when that one comes out later this year or next. Not mistaken, that’s the size of the Nendoroid Plus Plushies. I’m glad to be able to own two non-Touhou fumos. One from FGO and another from Demon Slayer. Those weren’t as mad as every sale for Touhou ones, that usually sell out within 10 minutes, instead of lasting a week. Seems like the previous sale (most recent, half a month ago, early May 2022 for anyone asking “in future”) was announced nearly barely, but the sale is swifter than the Idolmaster ones that kept spamming my feed on Twitter.

Another option if you want cheaper fumos, is to use Mercari, think of it almost as a japanese ebay, where everything is buy it now. You can usually find very good deals there, as every couple of days someone lists a fumo for 3000-4000 yen (27-37 usd). However you gotta use a proxy to order, I would suggest Dejapan, solely due to them not having commission fees. If you wanna search up fumos on mercari, just use "ふもふも 東方" without the quotation marks, and youll get all fumo merch on there.
Theres also of course yahoo auctions japan and surugaya, which can also be used to find good deals, however still, you have to go through a proxy, which can raises costs due to international shipping.
tl;dr, TOM and AmiAmi get stock after reitaisai (amiami seemingly doesnt anymore) there are other options but they usually are a bit more expensive.

Hello! I want to ask, do you think there will be another re-release anytime happening this year? There was a re release at January and February, and I think generally rereleases happen around two months per year but I feel like the months were 'too close together' thus making me believe that there will be a re release sometime later during the year. I want to ask a fumo expert if that's the case, because I want to go to Japan sometime during the year and get a fumo, since I don't have any. Do they also release new batches in Comiket?
That's a very good question. Major re-releases typically only happen during spring and fall reitaisais, to coincide with the release of a new fumo, like with shion this passed spring reitaisai or tenshi in the fall one prior. Said re-release really can be any pre-existing fumo. The major re-release that happened at the beginning of this year however, with fumos like satori, yuyuko, and aya getting re-released was more of an anomaly, and was *probably* due to an overabundance of stock for those specific characters. Outside of that however, there *generally* are a few *small* re-releases that aren't advertised throughout the year, usually just of one character at a time however (theres a preorder available right now for aya, and only aya for instance). As for sale during comiket, you may be lucky in finding some, but as for a guaranteed re-release for that time period, it is difficult to say. However, do not fret, I myself just went over to Japan in June, and thus can provide to you all the info you would need for buying fumos while there. Within Akihabara there are several stores that you should check out, Akiba hobby is almost entirely dedicated to touhou, and will almost ALWAYS have the most recent re-release and is guaranteed to have at least some fumos, with almost all being retail price (3700 yen or so) (also dont worry about finding them, the store itself is rather small, and the fumos are quite easy to find). Alongside newer characters there is the potential to find older, rarer ones (when there I found and bought a blazer Reisen). Outside of Akiba Hobby there aren't really any stores where there is a 100% chance of finding a fumo. Surugaya is probably your next best bet however, there are several surugayas that could have fumos, including the Surugaya by Akihabara station, and the 7 story complex (there is a floor solely for plushies, should be floor 6, found and bought a Suwako there for retail price) which is located next to Mandarake complex, there is also the surugaya in shinjuku (its on the 4th floor of a big mall) which has a big wall of secondhand plushies. Furthermore, one of the surugayas in Osaka had a large amount of v1 fumos when I went there. As just previously mentioned, Manadarake complex is also another place that could have fumos for sale, I managed to find a Sanae there, but that was it, and it was overpriced (however still cheaper than it would be to buy from america). Another store that I had luck in was Kbooks, a store located within radio kaikan in Akihabara, it dominates an entire floor and has a load of merchandise, however very little of it was touhou related. The fumos that were there were located by the rear register, by the downward escalator (its also next to one of the entrances to the porn section), however, do note, the fumos there are ALL the same price of 6480 yen, so unless you are lucky and find a rarer, generally more expensive fumo (i found and bought a hatate there) you have better options. Finally within Akihabara you have lashingbang, a thrift store near radio kaikan, I had no luck in finding fumos there, however, Yumemey, told me that he has had luck in the past with regards to finding fumos there, within the store in the back corner there is a big bin full of plushies, so if any are there, they would be in that corner. Finally, I must say, that you WILL KNOW if there are fumos within comiket prior to you going to it, as when you acquire the catalog for comiket, you will be able to see not only if gift is there, but also if any official reseller of fumos are there as well (however I would not bet on it). If you have ANY other questions, or want me to clear up ANYTHING regarding what I've said, please do not hesitate to ask, and I will be more than glad to answer it!

I am happy that there are at least some fumos in Akiba hobby because the only listing they had in their website was Aya (which I want to get, she is so cute) and I thought she was the only one available. I am also looking forward to surugaya, because not only there are fumos but also figurines that I want to get of Touhou as well. Also, how do I get a catalog for comiket when it ever comes? I want to see what re released Touhou fumos there are (if they ever come to comiket), and other stores like akiba hobby might sell the fumos after the event ends. Ill also wait for the autumn reitaisai to see if there are any more releases.
@@reversed_wheel_of_fortune For most major conventions (which comiket most certainly is) catalogs are sold all throughout akihabara, furthermore, you can order it through a proxy service if you want it before your arrival. Stores that sell them vary, but usually surugaya, and mandarake alike have it, but plenty of other stores will have them too, and will probably have some sort of signage advertising such. Also yeah, akiba hobbys website says they only have aya, because thats the only one that is currently up for pre-order, whence the pre-order period for her is over, then she'll be off the website. When I went there was no fumos listed on their website, however they had in stock several cirnos, tan cirnos, mokous, ayas, satoris, and yuyukos, as well as a few yukaris, and the blazer reisen. They always have fumos in stock, just really depends on what, but you should be able to find aya, due to her relatively common nature. Also for touhou figurines and statues within surugaya the same rules really apply, your best bets are the akihabara station, and 7 story complex (floor 5 has touhou stuff, its on the directory, dont worry), as well as the shinjuku one, however the touhou section there is pretty small. Another place you should go for touhou merchandise is Akibaoo store 3, its squirreled away in a basement in akihabara, but alongside akiba hobby, its really the only other touhou centered store in akihabara, and really all of tokyo (the un owen bar doesnt really count seeing as its a bar, but i would highly recommend going there as its a very cozy bar), most big time stores might have a little bit of touhou merchandise, but outside of the stores that i pointed out in the first post and this post, theres not a whole lot of places that have touhou stuff regrettably

I've seen a dozen amount of them in the internet. And I can safely say that there are indeed some top quality bootlegs, starting from Reimu and Koishi being the most identical with Gift's variant. Others are just plain bootlegs, and I mean BOOTLEGS. They are Marisa, Flandre, Alice, Patchy, and Meiling being the worst out of them.

That's a very good deal, overall the price for tewi didn't really skyrocket until the past year and a half or so, but even in 2017 that is a pretty damn good deal. Also I don't think I've ever even SEEN a bootleg tewi, at all, or reisen for that matter. Probably due to the ears being too much for the bootleggers to make... I’m glad to be able to own two non-Touhou fumos. One from FGO and another from Demon Slayer. Those weren’t as mad as every sale for Touhou ones, that usually sell out within 10 minutes, instead of lasting a week.
