I have relatives who appeared in this film, which was filmed partly in Crosby, North Dakota. Whenever the film gets shown locally, I gather friends and family and we watch it together.

why cant fumos be mass produced in the west? 1. find the buyers 2. make the fumos 3. sell the fumos ez (get the rights to mass produce touhou fumos)

It's important to note that this video was made prior to Gift partnering with AmiAmi which made getting fumos in the west much easier and cheaper.

I have been trying to contact the people who made this wonderful film (most old friends of mine from the San Francisco Film Workers Union) to let them know there is a reprisal of it on TH-cam, but so far no luck.

Thank you so much for posting this wonderful film. I was friends with the Cine Manifest people (who made the film) in San Francisco in the '60s-'70s. Before Cine Manifest, we started a film union there, the San Francisco Film Workers Union (FWU), which later became a NABET chapter. Most of the people who worked on Nothern Lights went on to become important filmmakers. I'm sure that any of them that are still alive will be delighted that their film is available on TH-cam.

Wanted to come back to this video because honestly it was so helpful in getting me into Fumos. Now that I've started making my own Fumo videos, I hope I can make something that helps someone years later like you have. Even thought this video is 4 years old now, thank you for making this. Btw I will say the bit at the end about making your own helped me so much.

Thanks for posting this! My dad Robert Behling was the star of this film, and I had a bit part in the breakfast scene starting at 10:59 . I was 17. Most of the film was shot in North Dakota, but many of the interior shots were filmed in San Francisco. ❤

Saw this on PBS, probably in the early 80's. Loved it (I have degrees in political science and history, go figure). Also my wife's grandmother homesteaded in South Dakota around 1900. I happened to think of this and found to my delight it was on YT. Thank you very much for posting this.

Got my first fumo for 60 bucks today. Best part is that it's brand new in the bag and everything still. I wanted reimu but couldn't find one so I settled on a miko (she has one of my favorite boss themes so it's fine). Can't wait for it to arrive

Damn, I must have really lucked out. I got a Tewi fumo a couple years ago for a little over $50. It's the only fumo that I own but it is a precious part of my collection. Complete with butt-tag and a lovingly detailed seam.

Have you seen the latest announcement for the latest fumo plushies, where they are bringing in medium sized plushies? Seems like you might need to make an update when that one comes out later this year or next. Not mistaken, that’s the size of the Nendoroid Plus Plushies. I’m glad to be able to own two non-Touhou fumos. One from FGO and another from Demon Slayer. Those weren’t as mad as every sale for Touhou ones, that usually sell out within 10 minutes, instead of lasting a week. Seems like the previous sale (most recent, half a month ago, early May 2022 for anyone asking “in future”) was announced nearly barely, but the sale is swifter than the Idolmaster ones that kept spamming my feed on Twitter.
