  • In this video I will be showing what my hair looks like after wearing it straight for over a month. I tend to get a lot of questions about how I maintain/stop my hair from reverting. I don't do anything to stop my scalp from reverting but I wanted to show a close up of what my scalp looks like when it does happen.
    Thanks for watching! 😊
    Hair FAQs
    How long have you been natural?
    All my life. I have never used any chemicals on my hair.
    How long did it take you to grow your hair?
    Hard to say. My hair has pretty much always been around bra strap length. Within the past 2-3 year I have been able to grow my hair to about tailbone length.
    What heat setting do you use on your flat iron?
    Hard to tell. My flat iron only shows the highest heat setting. Not sure the exact temperature.
    How often do you straighten my hair?
    One to two times a year
    How often do you wash you hair?
    Straightened: After about 4-6 weeks. It depends on how oily my hair is and if there is a lot of dandruff. I add little to no product to my hair so I don't have much build up.
    -Mini twist: Every 2-4 weeks
    How ofter do you cut/trim your hair?
    -Maybe 1-2 times a year. I only/mainly do it when my hair is straight and I only straighten my hair about 1-2 times a year.
    Do you have a Instagram? (Not a hair question)
    Nope.

    Don't apologize for talking too much or for being yourself, if people have an issue with that ...that's their issue, not yours. For those of us that love you, that's perfectly acceptable.... talk on!

    No worries 👍🏽 it's expected to see some dandruff. You have been able to preserve your style for approximately 6 weeks. When I visit my stylist and get a silk press mine lasts on avg 2 months. I use dry shampoo to dry up any extra moisture my hair has and the dry shampoo 🙃 smells so good . I use Aussie 👍🏽👊🏽🤛🏽 it's great

      A few people believe it to be new growth but I don’t think so. It only happens in certain places. Also I take pretty hot showers so it almost like I’ve sweat out my hair.

    this type of hair is very prone to lots of dandruff. sometime refered to as "stick me tite" dandruff. it is what makes the hair grow so long. my grandaughter has this hair, lots of it.

    LOL, my roots look like yours at 6 weeks after 1 day. And no, I don't exercise beyond walking the dog. But it's really humid here in general, so all my hair starts reverting as soon as I go outside.

    You have my dream hair 🥹. Did you use any added hair to grow your hair out (box braids, passion twist etc) or did you mostly use no added hair? I find that my hair thins with added hair no matter if I do it tight or not :/

    • @milami.
      @milami.  ปีที่แล้ว +12

      No I didn’t use any added hair. I rarely add hair to my hair. I feel like the style last longer with added hair but sometimes it just too much hair.

    • @milami.

      I have no idea. I feel like it is a mixture of all type 4. It’s pretty tight on the sides but the top is probably the loosest.

    How do you moisturize your hair when it is straightened to prevent reversion ?

    • @milami.
      @milami.  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don’t add anything. I just let my natural oils come in.

    • @Mskyraelise
      @Mskyraelise 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Moisturizing will actually cause reversion because most moisturizers are water based. When your hair is straight natural oils are able to travel down the hair shaft so there is no need to moisturize if your hair is generally healthy

    How do you wear your hair daily do you take the braids down everyday?

    • @milami.
      @milami.  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Both, It really depends on how I feel. I don’t feel like I do one more than the other. This time around I would braid my hair before I went to sleep. If they still looked good the next day I would wear them.
