Porsche GT4 RS Review: The Best Cayman Ever. You Need to Hear it Rev

  • In order to stuff the 911 GT3’s flat-six into the back of its mid-engine Cayman, Porsche leveraged some truly creative engineering. One of the biggest problems Porsche’s engineers faced was getting air to the engine, letting it breathe. Porsche’s solution, which in turn allowed the Cayman GT4 RS as a whole to breathe to life, is unorthodox.

Watched several reviews now and one thing is absolutely consistent- the smile on the drivers face from ear to ear.

“This might be the Porsche to buy” … sadly only a tiny percentage of people who want one and can afford it will actually be able to get an allocation. happy for my GT4 allocation, but will definitely love seeing these on track soon(?)

Now we just need the convertible version

This iteration probably would never have been released if it weren't for the the future fully electric Cayman confirmed for 2025. A "swan song" for the current Cayman.

Good luck to actually being able to buy. 2 year waiting for delivery or insane dealer markups.

Tough “market conditions” but I still would have one of these over exotics costing double the money…

Is it as fast as a GT3?

0-62 exactly same. A few seconds slower around NBR. Bigger smiles than in the GT3

Finally, a Cayman with the GT3 engine! I love the small size, and personally, the better looks of these over the new GT3. The dealer markup is crazy right now, though.

It’s a beauty!!! In all aspects. Another giant slayer underdog.
      A modern day 914/6 GT.

The signature Porsche !! The purist form of design.
Porsche is and was the master/designer/engineer of the mid mounted powertrain.
The war years intervened and killed off the old guy.
The company’s marketing Dept has always been scared to admit to their “loyal uninformed purists “ that the king is a mid engined Porsche.
The all conquering 991 RSR comes to mind.
The weak excuse was ‘it’s for aero purposes’ , but the ones in the know, know different.
All hyper/super cars are mid engined, hence the reason the 992’s continued attempts at moving the drive train forward.
Had the very expensive at $14000 and ultimate and fastest of road going Porsches in 1972, the Porsche’s 916 not been killed off, the 911 would have remained in second place. And dont get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t like the 911)
      My 2cents of opinion.

      I have both a 914/6 (2.5) and a 914 V8, two very different beasts.
The Chev V8 sets your heart beating, the 6 is like a Presicion instrument.
The GT4 RS must be the king, and the RS Clubsport controls the Kings purse strings...

If that’s your desire, but Mustang should not be spoken in the same breath as this car. It’s slower and will never come close to handling like a GT4RS.

    • @fan-tastic2803
      @fan-tastic2803 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rdadams7507 Agree on that one!
The two certainly can’t be compared. One a large 4-seater V8 the other a small two-seater, high powered mid engined flat-6.
The early 70’s saw small 6-cyl aircooled 911’s ran a few rings around V8’s.
      Nimble and eager they were.
