The original Carver (with the petrol engine, did 180 km/h), was tested by the Topgear crew, they said it could only be developed and made by the Dutch who had a lot of pot smoked and where in higher spheres when they came up with the idea.
Well, I know the guy, Chris, who invented the system and founded the Carver factory (Van den Brink), he was a friend and we used to do a lot of weird things, and he came always with crazy ideas. When we both went to university we lost each other out of sight, but when he came with the Carver I wasn’t surprised.

But Too over priced. In India also we have got a 2 seeter Car variant from company called EaS-E but it failed miserably because of it's high price. Projects like this will succeed if they bring it affordable price section like Tata brought "Nano"

My daily driver is a S+ Carver. Very practical and just fast enough. I would upgrade to a more refined and more powerful one if possible, but have to settle for the Sub woofer upgrade that drowns some other noice and makes the ride even more enjoyable

If its performance could be increased by one order of magnitude, it would have been a winner. As it is, it remains a glorified mobility scooter. Still, that's a lot more interesting than most product in this world. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

defo needs to be able to do at least 80 and have a range of 300miles for me to even consider one. hot swappable batteries would be good too so a spare can be carried.

@@richjohnson7362Good idea, carry around an extra 30 kilogram battery. You might as well just permanently wire it in, unless you're really that interested in lugging heavy batteries around. You'd be better off pulling that electric nonsense out and putting a small two cylinder petrol engine and a ten gallon tank so you could actually travel 200 plus miles at a time.

  • @flitsies

I've been looking at these for quite some time, I wanted a carver 1 but they have always been way too expensive, these are cheaper but consider the performance and range are still very expensive.
Perhaps if they only had certain parts made in china with the most important tilt mechanism and such made by a better engineering place the price would fall.
But it's just a very expensive slow vehicle, that has slow charge times for such a small battery.
If you had someone who was a bit on the heavy side that battery would drain very quickly, and because it drained quickly would need to be charged more often thus a shorter battery life would end up being the end result.
So though the idea is fantastic and I'm glad to see they actually added two doors instead of the original one door they were going to go with, it still lacks certain things that would make it a really good vehicle to buy.
11 grand is not a snip, make this 8 grand and they might sell more of them much quicker, and as they become more popular then raise the price to 11 grand once they hit a target but adding extra features.

It's a nice piece of transportation.. fantastically thought thru.... beautiful and technical design....but much too expensive
.Even in Germany I bought a second hand Dahatsu Copen for 11,000 € which had 70,000....I drove thru all eastern Europe on a couple of tanks of gas.. there are great city AND long distance cars out there. I do believe if you can get the CARVER ( the more expensive model) under 10,000. €..more people will be buying..and more will consider...also if you sold a solar panel to charge at home where one lives..that would be a great package deal......

If the battery was removable I would want one. There would of course need to be several smaller batteries, to not be too heavy to carry, let's say 4 batteries of 2 kWh each would be perfect, I think. They would weigh a little more than 10 kg each, making it easy to carry two up the stairs at once, then the third one, then park it and carry the last one back to my flat.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  ปีที่แล้ว

It could, but you'll need the specific plug for your mobility scooter - equally, not sure how that'll work with the onboard charger you have (don't want to blow it), and on top of that, it won't be secure as anyone could steal your charger - granted if you're with it, that's not going to be an issue.

The Carver tilting system is the reason I asked for a test drive and the reason I never want a Carver after the experience. The leaning is electronically controlled with pumps. It does NOT feel like natural leaning at all. It feels artificial and with that not nice at all. That aside the chairs are cheap plastic and the suspension makes you feel you are riding a cart. If launched in south/south asian market for sub £6k, this thing will disrupt the entire automobile market in those countries.

It is what we need to reduce traffic, but paying 16k for a glorified e-scooter is ridiculous. Maybe if it was priced for 6K it would have the potential to penetrate the market.
