Cocytus actually had so much respect for Brain, that he preserved his body in ice just as a monument, and he circled around him because Brain tried to defend that street, so Cocytus decided to go around instead of through him to respect the area that Brain tried to protect.
Also it's later explained that cocytus just keeps brain's sword and it's not even enchanted or special in the slightest. He just keeps it because he genuinely believes it's a trophy of a true warrior that he feld in battle.
If we take a step back and think about it, Cocytus is the best opponent he could've faced. He respected his warrior spirit, his resolve and honored his sacrifice. He gave up his life to save that road, and Cocytus went around it to show him that respect.
Yo, imagine wanting to learn one of the strongest techniques as a swordsman and then finding out that the best one is named "True Nail Clipper". That would make me worried xDD
It's not about author not knowing what to do with brain, he actually wrote the best ending for him, brain was part of kingdom, just like lakyus, he wanted to defend his country till last breath, it's the best end for a character who ran away from shalltear and was scared to even live, here we saw him laugh after dying, he completed his journey, he made cocytus recognize his skills as a warrior. Remember how the first time he said "whatever we do, it won't be much compared to real monsters like shalltear" , and cocytus who is shalltear's equal, actually recognized his worth as a warrior.
Author only wrote the webnovel, i believe other forces are behind the light novel. Since most of the characters do not exist in the original story "webnovel"
@@SilverGunner what the heck are you talking about! Author wrote both web novel and light novel. Light novel is just author refining whatever he wrote in web novel.
18:50 "However - Brain squinted and looked towards his slowly approaching yet still far away opponent. This was the street where he was picked up, forcefully pulled along by Gazef. This was the street he ran down with Climb to raid the Eight Finger’s facility, where he met Sebas. This was the street he led the children destined to become the next warrior captains down. This road was now being stomped upon carelessly by a monster. The road Brain had walked down with everyone he held dear was being stomped on. Unforgivable. Brain changed his mind. He no longer gave a damn about the Sorcerer King. Right here, right now, this monster in front of him- -he swore to make it pay."
but he didn't 😂 (he earned respect from the "monster" -which by the way, is kinda discriminatory, seeing as so far in the anime, it looks like humans discriminate against non-humans-, but there is no payment to speak of)
Brain surpassed gazef in this scene, he stepped into the hero realm(level 31+) and by putting his life on the line, he was able to do an attack equal to level 40, that is one of the highest attack power among all humans and even most monsters.
Which, compared to what he was up against, doesn’t measure up, but becomes him striking far outside of his weight class (which is legitimately the best we’ve seen of humanity thus far, or so I’m repeating based on another comment), as opposed to suicidal overconfidence based on having no idea what they’re getting into.
@@alecLogan new worlders have no concept of how strong Players actually are. Saying that its suicidal overconfidence when many characters who we’ve seen like that were near the limkt new world himans can reach.
@@tekdaystar345 Brain’s previous encounter with Shalltear, Clementine’s with ‘Momon,’ and I’m sure a number of other encounters fall well within the bounds of “Meh, I can take you, easy mode” in comparison to fully acknowledging “I’m going to die. Bring it.”
He froze the guy to memorialize his body in honour of his attempt to defend the area. Furthermore, he walked around to leave some area unfrozen so that it looked as if Brain successfully defended a small piece of the kingdom.
I just thought it was a sign of respect since, Samurai don’t really walk over the path of enemies that they respected. It was an old tradition, if you were acknowledged by your opponent even in death you would be honored.
Some noticeable scenes this episodes: 1. Princess Reiner casually wielding the Empire's sword. (Took Brain a lot of training to wield it.) 2. Aura heading into the Mage's Guild. 3. Cocytus going around the block to not to freeze the road that Brain is protecting to show respect. Not a spoiler, but imagine if Brain was resurrected and see Sebas, Shaltear and Cocytus in the throne room together.
1. Brain only had it on him, he never intended to use it. 3. Not so much as to not freeze it, bot not to step on his resolve to guard that street with his life
Well, Renner is a genius at everything. She literally has a special class at level max(5) called Genius that allows to to convert any number of its levels into any other class and give that class the Genius modifier.
@@TakonoTakoUwU yeah, kinda. The only other Genius classes we've seen in the anime so far are Brain with Fighter(Genius) and Nfirea with Pharmacist(Genius and Alchemist(Genius). Just from that it can be seen how insanely strong the Genius modifier is considering the gap between non-genius and genius. We don't know yet if Renner can choose to become a genius at different things at the same time of if the choice becomes permanent once she makes a choice, but if she's able to choose, or at least to try different things and choose to get serious about several different ones... Then she could potential end up with 5 different classes that have the Genius modifier.
I know they don't hate Brain but I mean, he was still incredibly strong for a HUMAN, give him at least some credit. He doesn't have to hurt Cocytus, just standing his ground meant so much. Idk I really like Brain as a character.
actually in the novel it says that at that point will the porions he drank and the bost habilities he was the strongest human in the world, he surpass gaseft for far much even surpass the natural limit humans have in that world, that's why he was bleading ecause his body couln't resist that amount of level power.
Bro is a Samurai.. Fleeing the battle against Shalltear was a HUGE dishonor! They're supposed to die in battle.. So yeah, he did what he could and got his honor back at least...
The budget was not for you to see Brain kick some ass, was to make his last resolve as a warrior respectable. This is like One Punch Man, you are not gonna see someone just go one on one against Ainz or the floor guardians. Brain had, in my opinion, the best death in the whole series: He faced Cocytus who gave him the death of an honorable warrior, keeping his sword as a reminder of that one warrior that faced the Sorceress Kingdom's forces all by himself, Brain was preserved in ice, not for resurrection but for respect, and then Cocytus take a detour so he wouldn't walk over the street that Brain gave his life protecting.
It’s not like One Punch Man because Class S heroes still go up and get challenged within the story ALL the time. Overlord is just Nazrik all being Saitama and then everyone else just being King.
If you recall Season 2, that's the same sword Cocytus told the lizardmen he wouldn't use on them because they weren't strong enough to warrant it. It's the final, and greatest weapon crafted by Cocytus's creator, Warrior Takemikazuchi, before he quit the game. So it speaks volumes how much respect Cocytus had for Brain to use that on him, let alone to preserve his body and keep his sword as a trophy.
I think you might of been misremembering the lizard battle quote. I am almost certain that Cocytus had said to the lizardmen that they aren't strong enough to warrant him using a weapon in every hand which is his default move set but other than that everything else is spot on! ( edit: just rewatched part from season 2 episode 5, 13:20, Coctyus did say they arent strong enough to make him fight them with a weapon in each hand.)
Wait, didn't he say that the lizardmen weren't strong enough for him to quad-wield like he would usually in a duel? He used a single one of the God Slaying Emperor Blade in his fight with the lizardmen too.
if I'm not mistaken, he said that they were not strong enough for him to use both of his weapons, because usually, he will fight with weapons on both of his arms, he did use the god slaying emperor blade. And about the god slaying emperor blade I dont really know if it is the last weapon created by warrior takemikazuchi because of the Takemikazuchi MK 8. This is what read from the wiki "According to Bujin Takemikazuchi's character sheet, it was revealed that this sword is the most updated version in the series of weapons he created in an attempt to beat the World Champion warrior and fellow guildmate Touch Me in battle; however, he was never able to test its strength because Touch Me retired before he had the opportunity to do so"
As a reminder, Pandora's Actor has the ability to copy the appearance and abilities of all the 41 Supreme Beings. But, he can only mimic till 80% of their abilities. Ainz also ordered PA to stall the battle as long as possible with PDL to gain more info info about him. That's why he doesn't have any world items with him or any other super powerful equipment Notice that PA as Ainz doesn't have his glowing Red orb inside of him?
The orb itself is a world item, if he'd only had that on him, he could've gotten out of the barrier PDL made. Obviously he never parts with it, but *if* he had it. And Albedo having her own world item was what let her break through.
@@-Apoptos- yeah, and it’s also worth noting that 80% of the power doesn’t equate to level 80. With the way the power scaling as you level works, Pandora’s Actor would be using a level 100 character’s abilities at around level 95.
What makes this better, is the fact that before the fight started he said he will fulfil his "role" to albedo. They gave us the hint, including the orb in the chest missing, that it was PA long before the reveal.
So, the last scene with Cocytus has ALOT going on that's implied and not stuff that you'd pick up on without knowing a bunch of random historical trivia. First, trading names is a way of setting down the rules for a duel, as each participant introduces who is going to fight on their side. Once Brain said his name, Cocytus stopped his minions from attacking and likewise responded with his own, basically accepting the challenge as a one on one duel with no outside interference. Second, Cocytus pulled out the God Slaying Emperor Blade, a sword that he's only used once before in the show, with the Lizardmen earlier on, as a sign of respect for the warrior's resolve to fight even when they knew they would lose. Cocytus only used one hand on the sword back then, but he opted for two hands this time to maximize his strike's power, as he most likely sensed that Brain was going all out for the duel in a bid to actually win. Third, Cocytus took a trophy from the kill in the form of Brain's sword, forever marking that blade as Very Important to Cocytus and a way for him to remember the duel. Fourth, Cocytus froze Brain's body and walked around him in an effort to preserve Brain and the ground that he fought to protect from the army's advance. So, in total, Cocytus gave him a warrior's respect by trading names, a warrior's death by matching Brain's strongest strike with the strongest strike he had, and a warrior's honor in death by not sullying the ground he just died for. IMO, this is probably the best fight in terms of overall meaning to any character in Overlord.
It's a shame the anime didn't point out the fact that brain actually at that time was the stongest human in the world, and at the moment he make that attack he broke 2 times the natural limir humans have in that world. cocyutus has so much respect not only for his warrior resolution, ut because he witness for the first time a human surpassing the hero realm, that's something that gazefl himself wasn't even able to do with all his equipment. that's how awesome brain was
The amount of respect Cocytus showed Brain is satisfying 👍Unlike Blue Rose who ran away to save themselves Brain did not run, he was courageous enough to stay and fight for the temple like a true warrior which is very admirable 🙏✌ he will be remembered as one of the bravest characters of Overlord.
to be honest everyone that ran was all in there right mind cuz remember ainz super tier spell wiped out like 70k at the start then like 50k-60k more with the dark young weird things.
There was no reason for them to sacrifice their lives for an obvious lost cause that they themselves have no ties with. They are adventurers therefore really just mercenaries, they are not obligated to defend the kingdom. Brain is just stupid and too full of pride and all that nonsense of loyalty to the kingdom. It would've been smarter for him to raise a new generation of warriors with what he knows then to throw his life away and lose out on any techniques and experience he could've passed on.
While I can get people liking blue Rose for what they did for their friend you gotta admit that wasn't very ride or die. Like *they knew* that Lakyus loved her country, knows how good of a person she is and knows that being sent away would absolutely destroy her as well as forever taint their friendship.
After Cocytus introduced himself, Brain was sorta surprised cause he didn't expect an answer and felt that he heard that name before but can't remember (it was when he first met Shalltear). He also thought if the situation were reversed, Brain would not do the same and just cut down his opponent and continue walking. So he is thankful that a being as powerful as Cocytus gave him some attention.
I loved reading Brains last stand in the LN and the Anime did a great job with it by not rushing it. And captured Cocytus's reserved respect for Brain as a warrior very well.
cool thing to know Brain became more powerful than Stronoff right at the end. when he started bleeding it was because he enter in what is called "the realms of heroes" or something like that, it means that he as gone over the limit of a simple human thus becoming a "hero" and becoming more powerful than Stronoff, and it's pretty rare so yeah Cocytus respected this dude a lot
i think the anime dont do a good job in showing that normal this dudes with special skills are not the norm... brain literally supassed a hero... this was like the winning move but that is only level 40 LOL.
Someone said the double Ability Boosts are what made his nose bleed like that, it was something that was supposed to be impossible for a human to do. Glad he went out with honor, liked the character.
@@barryg.5224 Yeah, only those who are in the realm of heroes are able to do that. If I can recall, Clementine used the double Ability Boosts without as much straining as Brain was, showing her capability as a Black Scripture member.
So since I'm pretty sure this is the first time the *Six Great Gods* and the *8 Greed Kings* have been mentioned to be players I thought I'd give some exposition: The *6 Great Gods* were a group of 6 players that arrived to the New World around *600* years ago, they founded the *Slaine Theocracy,* saved humanity from the brink of extinction and introduced Tier magic to the world, the strongest one of them was an undead called *Surshana.* The *godkin* that were mentioned before are mainly descendants from them. The *8 Greed Kings* were another group of players that appeared roughly *500* years before Ainz, they conquered the known world and drove the *Dragon Lords* to near extinction, they also used a world item so that language was automatically translated to the ears of the receptors but if one was to pay close attention to the lips of whoever is speaking they'd see that what they are saying and the way their mouths move is not in sync. Ultimately they died a couple of times fighting the dragons and then died for good due to infighting between themselves. There have been a couple of other known and suspected players after those 2 but they were arguably the most influential to the New World's history.
what happened to the 6 great gods? Also, does that means Ainz won't actually find any new player? that's kinda sad, for him and for the story since no one would ever be able to pose a real threat to him
@@Ricardo_Rick All but Surshana died of old age, he however was killed by the Greed Kings, and with no one to revive him, he'll likely stay dead. As far as for the other question, we don't know ANYTHING about the players who arrived 400 and 100 years before Ainz so I suppose it's possible they are still alive assuming they were heteromorphs. Furthermore someone new might pop-up after another century so it's not completely hopeless
@@Ricardo_Rick The games timeline is irrelevant. You need to learn more about time travel and time paradoxes. Two people could land in two different points in time but come from the same reference point in time. The greed kings and the great gods could've all came from the point in time that the server shut down. There are theories on this if you watch Overlord lore videos people make. Some say they came from different points within the games development(patches) but nothing has been proven out. 10 years of the game being released spanning over 600 years in the new world for players coming to it. New people can still show up. It's "magic" after all. Also to add when you have time travel in the mix with magic, anything is possible.
It's here! Was glad to see the level of respect Cocytus had for Brain as a warrior. I think some folks said that with the potions he took the level of Brain's attack was similar to a Lv. 40 which is especially impressive for a human.
It’s beyond human. That strike probably would’ve taken out a death knight. Obviously it wouldn’t have even damaged Cocytus, but with that strike, Brain was one of the strongest humans in that world.
I´m very surprised most people did not get how much respect Cocytus is showing Brain. He died as a hero. For us he did nothing, but he at least tried to protect the kingdom.
@@esaualfaro3447 Yeah and when I saw it was Cocytus he was going to fight I said to myself this was the best person he could've asked for. Cocytus is all about respecting a warriors heart and it puts him in the best position to possibly get resurrected.
Notice that instead of walking right past Brain after the duel Cocytus instead took a detour going around Brain out of respect for he defended the road behind with him his life. Cocytus in multiple ways showed the respect he had for Brain as a warrior.
Actually sleeping on Brain. 1. Do you remember that Cocytus refused to use that sword on the lizard men because they were not WORTHY to be slain by it? It is the finest weapon his creator ever made. Brain was worthy. 2. Cocytus went around him to show his respect, the enemy did not walk through this warrior. 3. Cocytus respected Brain as a warrior. 4. That attack Brain used was roughly a level 40 attack, that is the cap of any human and the majority of monsters. It passed Gazef in full armor.
11:40 Yeah! That is the same dragon from episode 1 of Season 2. He's the one who talked to an old ex-adventurer to go digging for any recent info or rumors of World Items, cause he sent that armor of his to fight Shalltear when she was brainwashed, and got beaten pretty quickly, so he figured that new "puh-layers" had appeared.
Yall dont even know how bad ass Brain was at this moment. They did a really good job with this scene especially for non LN readers. I wish they had added a voiceover while he was activating all those skills and explaining what was happening. They explained Brains talent, which he himself didnt fully understand, how many skills he actually activated and how despite being at this limit for the amount of skills he can use he kept activating skills despite being depleted of focus . [Brains talent: its an increase in his focus capacity/ basically fp instead of mp. If you're not sure what fp is its basically focus power it works smiliar to magic power [mp] that powers magic casters spells. Fp is used for martial arts)
Cocytus, although he was ordered to advance, made sure to go the long way around, as his ice path would show to anyone that passed by that Brain did in fact halt Cocytus’ advance, even if only for a moment. That Cocytus also slew Brain with his most prized sword, preserved his body where he stood, AND took his sword as a trophy, speaks _volumes_ about how much he respected this man as a warrior.
Canonically Brain at that instant surpassed the heroes of legend, he became someone with the strength of a 40th lvl. Meaning he would have been one of the most powerfull humans in all of the New World, if he were to fight Death Knights he would have kill them all with relative ease. But of course thats not enough against an upper member of Nazarick
??? He made an attack equivalent to a level 40’s, he didn’t reach that. Even if he were a level 40, he’d have a very hard time against even 2 death knights
Brain isn't the strongest human. the strongest human is in black scripture (big guy with a big axe in previous ep). it stated that guy is less-around evileye level even though he's merely human. therefore, he is known as the "strongest human".
@@akbargunawan1984 never said strongest. I said one of the strongest. But maybe I just dont know enough if there are way more stronger humans from the New World othet than Brain in that instant he used True Nail Clipper.
definitely not multiple gang he had one attack on par wit a lvl 40 sword strike. he could maybe take down one death knight but realistically, what would that do
I mean, you cant REALLY complain about them spending the budget on Brain, even if he doesnt really do anything, its a powerfull scene, and that's why they gave it the "special treatment"...enjoy the budget regardless of the scenes its used in 🙏♥️
Brain manage to surpassed gazef and reach the realm of hero. Cocytus said that if they based him in lvl, he's in lvl 40 in which a lvl that no human can reach.. and their duel are based in Japanese duel( which mean all out where 1hit/move is needed to end it) attack cuz both of them are both attack type character. The reason they circle it out to respect him, they don't want to damage the place where he's trying to protect.. remember that place is where he met gazef, climb, and sebas
I'm sad that you totally missed the point of Brain's death and how much respect Cocytus showed him. Put Brain's weapon next to his master's, preserved his body for all eternity & walked around around him to show that he managed to protect that one street.
What people don't realize is that in the light novel as brain was walking through the capital, he notices why it was so quiet, he mentions that most if the houses were boarded up from the inside with families that couldn't escape group suiciding in their homes. On that day the capital was the site of a mass suicide.
The dragon was a part of the 13 heroes. He knew players but wasn't one. Which is why he pronounces NPC and "player" a little strangely. And as for Brain: I think he knew he was going to die, which is why he gave the sword up.
I personally wouldn't label this as a spoiler, but just in case so nobody can flag me for it, SPOILER WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!! This has probably been addressed already and you might know at this point, but no, platinum dragon lord is not a player. They're from the new world but worked in a guild called the 13 heroes, which had 2 players (this also is why he knows of "puh-layers" and "en-pii-cees" ) That came to the new world 200 years before Ainz. Also PDL controls the suit remotely, although that's fairly obvious. Also to give some info on 11:16 about "all the players going around doing evil shit", The first players 600 years ago were the 6 Great Gods, who actually sought to help the world and defend humans from monsters. They're also worshipped by the Theocracy, also why they have 6 scriptures (black scripture, sunlit scripture etc). 200 years later the 8 Greed Kings came to the new world, and decided to conquer it. They were also the ones responsible for killing Surshana, one of the 6 Great Gods, and possibly more of them. They eventually succumbed to in-fighting amongst themselves, killing eachother in the process. 200 more years after that, 2 more players were brought to the new world and joined PDL, Rigrit (watch s2 ep1 timestamp 2:10 if you forgot who that is) and the rest of the 13 heroes to fight of an increasing horde of evil monsters, with killing their final opponent, the God Dragon, marking the end of the 13 heroes era.
Someone prolly already said this, but the Dragon Lord and his armor were shown twice in previous seasons, once in the flashback when Shalltear got mind controlled, and another time afterwards
My favorite detail in this couple episodes was the honor that Cocytus gave, but also after some digging learning that Brain in that moment was the strongest he's ever been in his life. The potions pushed his body beyond it's limits, the area martial art was perfected and supplemented with the six fold slash that Gazef mastered, and he could have been deemed a hero for the strength he possessed in that moment above other adamantite level adventurers. A feat he couldn't achieve on his own, but only after meeting learning and helping others around him who guided him to become the best version of himself. That was what Cocytus honored in that moment to basically acknowledged he was "moved" from his intended path. DAMN I LOVE THAT SAMURAI ICE BUG!!
Brain is the first human we see who performed a physical attack powerful enough to get through Cocytus' Physical damage nullification barrier and at least touch him, although not hurt him (the true nail clipper, an upgraded version of what he used to cut Shalltear's nail).
When Brain activated True Nail Clipper, he was around level 35-40, so he probably would’ve been able to take on a death knight solo. In other words, he was one of the strongest humans in the world. Cocytus recognized Brain’s strength and courage, and froze his body and took his sword out of sheer respect.
Albedo was given her World Level Item by Tabula, her creator. Also, all the other players either died of old age (because they picked human or demi-human as their race), or were killed by each other. I think the last player before Ainz was a minotaur that was transported alone, and died of old age.
Fun fact the person who Shalltear fought against that brainwashed her was the same dragon lord seen in this ep 11, in season 1 you can see a flashback of shalltear fighting him as well I think in the last or 2nd to last ep, also you can even see the scratch mark on his left shoulder from when the fought shalltear, ALSO also, Pandora actor can copy 70-80% of the power of the person they are copying and some skills, so Riku only fought about 80% of ainz, I could be wrong with the percentage though.
Also for the Brain vs Cocytus fight, cocytus wanted to take the hit and gain a battle scar from Brain and immortalize him as a genuine warrior but decided that it would be a disgrace to Ainz if he got a scar from someone "low level" and froze him instead of getting a hit, I believe.
Not for his summons though that’s the same as Ainz. Also remember Platinum’s armour isn’t him. He’s even stronger .As a dragonlord he’s got racial traits and abilities that don’t factor into his armour
Platinum dragon lord did appear Season 2 Episode 1. Good job remembering. The armor appeared there too, as Rigrit said that the armor was her friend, not the dragon.
albedos world item was given to her in secret by her creator Tabula (the person the PD turned into when they met, since he read her surface thoughts). Ainz's world item is the red orb that he has in his abdomen.
18:53- No, unlike you the writer understood how to write a character that changes from a coward that easily abandoned his men to someone that stood his ground to try and protect something important to him.
Brain had completed his character arc but most people didn't get it. He went up against Shalltear first, someone without honor, someone he can't even scratch, so he went and bolted fearing for his life, having an identity crisis. He was found by Gazef in the same streets he died defending. He found Sebas and Climb in those same streets, and found that true strength meant that he has someone to die for. Now the enemy is at his country's doorstep, one with honor, yet is desecrating the very streets he gained his second life on. This time, now at the level of Gazef and Clementine or even better, he's trying his best knowing he's going to die, but at the hands of someone honorable. He died smiling and with fulfillment, unfortunately not cutting through Cocytus with the power of friendship and plot armor asspull. He at this point is lvl 35-40, he literally is a top .01% human at this point, and that's amazing considering he had no mobs to farm in an RPG story, nor any special equipment like that power mech bullshit.
Whenever Ainz is acting a little too extra, that's how you know it is Pandora's Actor. :) Brain encountered 4 beings that are basically gods in that world (Shalltear, Sebas, Ainz, Cocytus). Poor guy got no chance since the beginning. lol
Brain and cocytus fought in the same street that gazef found brain and stopped him from killing himself, cocytus circled around brain to show respect to him and don't destroy the street that this warrior was trying to defend. Btw cocytus was walking straight all the way from the gate, brain made him to go back and use anther road.
Fun fact: pandora actor still not serious cause his mision to gain info and observe calmly He smart to make people think ainz weak Pandora actor was smart and strong even he comparable to albedo and demiurge some npc in nazarick was OP just like every floor guardian = raid boss in game Pandora actor was treasur guardian and he a lv 100 npc the most flexible NPC in nazarick
Season 1 dude, that's where you saw Platinum Dragon Lord, they talked about the other powerful characters, the dude that brainwashed the vampire chic and the black and white haired lady that wanted a baby by Ainz
Instead of walking over/thru brain cocytus walked back and walked around the block to show respect. Cocytus sees humans as worms and he literally went out of his way for Brain.
In that point Brain is surpass Gazef ,he is one of the most powerful human, just like the 13 hero , the final move of Brain ,he named nail clippers because he cut Shalltear nail in S2 and cocytus don’t walk right though him because he show him respect and don’t want to insult him as a Warrior
The Platinum Dragon Lord has fought and killed players in the past which is why he knows about them and their world items as well as NPC...we don't know how strong or optimized those players were so he's using them as benchmarks for Ainz but was surprised at Pandoras Actors strength...also the Magic he uses is called Wild magic which originates with the Dragons of the new world which is why Ainz isn't aware of it yet...it uses dragons massive HP pools instead of mana
Brain Unglaus in this Chapter managed to overcome Gazef Stronoff who was the strongest human in the entire kingdom (he is the one with the blue sword that could kill Ainz in the third season) 😅 Brain Unglaus managed to be in the kingdom of the heroes, which is supposed to be unattainable for humans, something that Gazef Stronoff, very prepared, barely managed to touch, that's why Cocytus said "I'm surprised that there is someone of this level here" and that "it would be a good acquisition for Nazarik" since it was the first time they saw a human with that level that was supposed to be unreachable👍 that's why Cocytus showed his respect towards Brain Unglaus as a warrior and decided to preserve his body in ice and even rhodium to avoid crossing to his side like sign of maximum respect, as such he was a worthy opponent to admire.
I love how hyped they got someone was actually giving Ainz a real fight, only to see it was pandora actor, and as it is his role, he was just acting to gather information and give the enemy false sense of power, round 2, won't be so easy
When i saw how Cocytus treated Brain i was so moved because he was just so respectful especially when he went around the street to show how much he respected him as a warrior. I love this show for things like this because he didn't have to, yet he did because that is a testimate of how his character is and i'm glad everyone has a way of showing themselves in different ways.
It's important to keep in mind that in this world the humans have a hard species level cap around 30. Ainz has said he is level 100, and some guardians are stronger than him.
Here's a neat lil' detail: The world item ainz always has on him is the little red ball that sits in his ribcage. If you watch the fight with riku, you'll notice pandora's actor is missing it.
19:10 Author actually added this scene to show Brain's growth. He was always strong but when he faced a truly powerful enemy,(shalltear) his spirit broke and he ran away and broke down completely. Now after everything he went through with Sebas and Climb, he faces another enemy of similar caliber knowingly, determined despite knowing he's not going to survive it, but he doesnt accept running away as an option as he mentioned earlier.
The sword Cocytus pulled out was one ultimate creation of Takemikazuchi, he wanted to create a weapon that could defeat Touch Me the leader of the supreme beings, when Cocytus pulled that sword, was game over ;-;
in the Novel, Brain remembered that Street, the one he and Gazeff met after his defeat, the Same street he met Sebas and saw Climb overcome his Fear, where he fought against Demiurges attack with the others Cocytus saw his resolve and invitation to a duel when Brain gave stated his name, so he replied as respect and a sign he accepted the duel, Brain didn't expect that, and thanked the ice giant, Cocytus used the sword given by his Supreme Being, Takemikazuchi (the same used against the lizard man) , he used two hands, another sign of respect. Brain had mastered the same martial arts as Gazeff, using SIX slashes, surpassing his rival, having evolved to its true form, "True Nail Clipper", using everything he learned from Shalltear, Sebas and Gazeff, and at the moment he striked, he was the strongest human in the kingdom, strong as a Hero-Level in Yggdrasil As a collector, he would take Brains sword and his preserved body as a trophy to the Ice Floor. He also act independent for a second, choosing to respect the warrior istead of taking Brain's body to Ainz. Brain was protecting that path, not wanting to freeze the road (at least that small part), he walked around instead. this is the last time we see Brain as off now (he could be revived, but that didn't happen yet, and probably won't happen).
The reason Hilda and the other Eight Fingers members look so thin and sick is because when they where made to serve Nazarick they where mmm “baptized” meaning that the cockroach monster Kyouhukou tortured them making cockroaches go inside their mouth and eat them inside then they where healed and this was done over and over again until they submit and swear allegiance to Nazarick. That’s the reason why Hilda just take blended/liquid food, because the trauma is so powerful she can’t eat anything solid or won’t eat anything solid anymore. Also about the True Nail Clipper technique, that’s because the first time he fought Shaltear que could not break her nail, the second time after training he was good enough to cut her nails, and after that achievement, as small as it may seem, being able to cut the nail of someone he knew was basically way bayones his level make him so proud he named his ultimate technique as True Nail Clipper.
i just realized that the dragon has no idea what players or npcs are hence the weird spellings. he thinks those are like terms used to categorize them by strength from what he probably heard/learned from actual players. but it means that he actually knows or has connections with players since he has the info
Unironically, the beating Lakyus took from her teammates was a legitimate demonstration of the power of friendship in this series. 🤣 Fun fact: the street Brain protected was the same one where Gazef found him, the same one where he met Sebas and Climb, where he was saved and where he reborn, which makes his last stand there so significant. Cocytus noticed and honored him by taking a detour. 🥲
The way he says player ("puh-layer") and npc ("En-Pee-Zee") is because apparently is foreign word in this World and somehow he heard it from Ygdrassil players before Ainz.
Apparently no human has ever double stacked Ability Boost and Greater Ability Boost before without dying That, combined with the potions, and him upgrading his Fourfold Flash of Light to Gazef's Sixfold Flash of Light (you can count the slashes) and his Field, means that one attack was stronger than anything else in the world except, well, a Nazarick Floor Guardian. If it were anyone other than Cocytus or Aura they would have been liquified; he certainly would have been able to destroy the crowd of Ice Wraiths in one shot.
Yes, Platinum Dragon Lord (PDL) was seen before in S2E1, talking to Rigrit and remembering using the armor to fight Shalltear. Their conversation suggested he knows about Players from Ydrassil arriving in the new world and that they generally appear every 100 years (we also got hints then and now that he knows _why_ Players appear). So he has some knowledge of Ygdrassil and players, but "player" and "NPC" are things he only knows in the context of the new world (and not in the game context), hence the "puh-layer" and "en-pii-see" like someone repeating foreign words they only sorta know.
Just to be clear the" platinum dragon" was the mysterious warrior in session 2 that defeated shalltear and mind controlled her to fight Lord Ainz Let me know if I'm wrong but that's what I remembered
Well the Author wanted the Blue Roses to die in this battle but his editor told him no, he asked about it on twitter and the fans of Japan didn't want it either so they escaped as seen in this chapter, as for Brain in the novel They narrate and say that when he faced Cocytus he was already stronger than Gazet and that without realizing it he performed a miracle that broke human limits by breaking Shalter's nail and now when he empowered himself at the end he performed a miracle again breaking the human limit but the charge was so strong that he would have died in the end, Cocytus is amazed and says that he was level 40 after his duel, his death in the novel is very epic
If I remember correctly the princess can use the diamond sword because of her "genius" class which allows her to change her class to whatever she wants for a short time
Brain actually really strong for normal human, he is a genius in sword fighting when he was young. After the duel with Gazef in the Kingdoms tournament he and Gazef is revered among the gangs of Eight Fingers. When level 35 up is considering among the heros realm, True Nail Clipper that Brain pulled is compared to a level 40 attack. He truely a great warrior.
Cocytus actually had so much respect for Brain, that he preserved his body in ice just as a monument, and he circled around him because Brain tried to defend that street, so Cocytus decided to go around instead of through him to respect the area that Brain tried to protect.
and apparently that street is the one where Gazef found him after he ran from Shalltear, and the same street where he met Sebas

Also it's later explained that cocytus just keeps brain's sword and it's not even enchanted or special in the slightest. He just keeps it because he genuinely believes it's a trophy of a true warrior that he feld in battle.
He stood no chance and still fought. You can call him stupid or brave but he stood by his words, I respect that
If we take a step back and think about it, Cocytus is the best opponent he could've faced. He respected his warrior spirit, his resolve and honored his sacrifice. He gave up his life to save that road, and Cocytus went around it to show him that respect.
Brain really named his move "True Nail Clipper" because of Shalltear😂

It's not about author not knowing what to do with brain, he actually wrote the best ending for him, brain was part of kingdom, just like lakyus, he wanted to defend his country till last breath, it's the best end for a character who ran away from shalltear and was scared to even live, here we saw him laugh after dying, he completed his journey, he made cocytus recognize his skills as a warrior. Remember how the first time he said "whatever we do, it won't be much compared to real monsters like shalltear" , and cocytus who is shalltear's equal, actually recognized his worth as a warrior.

Wow, a fodder character surpassed another fodder character.
He froze the guy to memorialize his body in honour of his attempt to defend the area. Furthermore, he walked around to leave some area unfrozen so that it looked as if Brain successfully defended a small piece of the kingdom.

@@mattersondoom and he was gonna die anyways because of the effort he pulled.

However the execution of how it happend still shallow that his duel is misunderstood huh..
It’s not like One Punch Man because Class S heroes still go up and get challenged within the story ALL the time.
Overlord is just Nazrik all being Saitama and then everyone else just being King.
@@han-df9mw Naw the others in overlord are capable of a little power. They are mumen rider with his bike power up. =3
Most of season 2 and 3 was about other people having a challenge.
edit: just rewatched part from season 2 episode 5, 13:20, Coctyus did say they arent strong enough to make him fight them with a weapon in each hand.)
Wait, didn't he say that the lizardmen weren't strong enough for him to quad-wield like he would usually in a duel? He used a single one of the God Slaying Emperor Blade in his fight with the lizardmen too.
Copy paste
I mean that would be cool if it were correct, but that's not what he said at all, as people already said
if I'm not mistaken, he said that they were not strong enough for him to use both of his weapons, because usually, he will fight with weapons on both of his arms, he did use the god slaying emperor blade.
That's why he doesn't have any world items with him or any other super powerful equipment
Notice that PA as Ainz doesn't have his glowing Red orb inside of him?
The orb itself is a world item, if he'd only had that on him, he could've gotten out of the barrier PDL made. Obviously he never parts with it, but *if* he had it. And Albedo having her own world item was what let her break through.
It’s more appropriate to say he can mimic the original forms of others and their abilites albeit at only 80% potency
@@thehauntedscarecrow3184 another really big tell, is that his inner voice is still Ainz, and not his player's voice.
I think he walked around him as a sign of respect, that Brain stood his ground, too.
That's a lots of words for saying brain was stupid and died for absolutely nothing.
to be honest everyone that ran was all in there right mind cuz remember ainz super tier spell wiped out like 70k at the start then like 50k-60k more with the dark young weird things.
Lol you want blue rose to die for nothing too? Brain is so lucky that he met Cocytus in his final moments if not, you wouldn't be praising him now 🤣
After Cocytus introduced himself, Brain was sorta surprised cause he didn't expect an answer and felt that he heard that name before but can't remember (it was when he first met Shalltear).

Fun reminder ; The dragon is thinking in terms of "worst case scenario" and assumes Ainz may have 2 world items.
Ainz has 11.
So since I'm pretty sure this is the first time the *Six Great Gods* and the *8 Greed Kings* have been mentioned to be players I thought I'd give some exposition:
The *6 Great Gods* were a group of 6 players that arrived to the New World around *600* years ago, they founded the *Slaine Theocracy,* saved humanity from the brink of extinction and introduced Tier magic to the world, the strongest one of them was an undead called *Surshana.* The *godkin* that were mentioned before are mainly descendants from them.

Yall dont even know how bad ass Brain was at this moment. They did a really good job with this scene especially for non LN readers. [Brains talent: its an increase in his focus capacity/ basically fp instead of mp. If you're not sure what fp is its basically focus power it works smiliar to magic power [mp] that powers magic casters spells. Fp is used for martial arts)
Cocytus walking around Brain instead of past him was to show respect btw.

On that day the capital was the site of a mass suicide.
The dragon was a part of the 13 heroes. He knew players but wasn't one. Which is why he pronounces NPC and "player" a little strangely. And as for Brain: I think he knew he was going to die, which is why he gave the sword up.

The reason why Renner could swing the sword is because she has 5 levels in genius job class.
FINALLY omg I could barely wait any longer for your great reaction to this episode!!!
Much love
Anyone knows if they´re planing to react to Isekai Quartet now that they´ve watched all the shows that are involved?
The way PDL and Cocytus say "madou heika" is always so satisfying
17:26 renner actually signaled her shadow demon that she got from Ainz in that scene
4:50 “Ma’am!?! Ma’am?!? This man about to hurt you!”
😂🤭😹😆😂🤭😹😆
Platinum dragon lord did appear Season 2 Episode 1. Good job remembering. The armor appeared there too, as Rigrit said that the armor was her friend, not the dragon.
albedos world item was given to her in secret by her creator Tabula (the person the PD turned into when they met, since he read her surface thoughts). Ainz's world item is the red orb that he has in his abdomen.
Man was waiting for this Moment since this show it getting crazy
And he's the first human using normal weapon that can give damage to lv100 being , even tho it just damaging nail
Homies: Dude lets watch Overlord
Me: Nah fam, shits too dark
Homies: **surrounded me "Here have some tea"
YOSHA I'm hype to see all your reaction to this series.
Whenever Ainz is acting a little too extra, that's how you know it is Pandora's Actor. :)
Brain encountered 4 beings that are basically gods in that world (Shalltear, Sebas, Ainz, Cocytus). Poor guy got no chance since the beginning. lol
Brain's arc was amazing.
His death made me cry
Brain and cocytus fought in the same street that gazef found brain and stopped him from killing himself, cocytus circled around brain to show respect to him and don't destroy the street that this warrior was trying to defend. Btw cocytus was walking straight all the way from the gate, brain made him to go back and use anther road.
Fun fact: pandora actor still not serious cause his mision to gain info and observe calmly
He smart to make people think ainz weak
Pandora actor was smart and strong even he comparable to albedo and demiurge some npc in nazarick was OP just like every floor guardian = raid boss in game
Pandora actor was treasur guardian and he a lv 100 npc the most flexible NPC in nazarick
Season 1 dude, that's where you saw Platinum Dragon Lord, they talked about the other powerful characters, the dude that brainwashed the vampire chic and the black and white haired lady that wanted a baby by Ainz
Episode 1 of season 2
Oh my lord!! I’ve been waiting for so long, much love and support for ya boi roshi.
"Brain, the man without one." That's hilarious. 😂
Glad for the reaction! Thank you and excited to hear your thoughts in this double episode reaction.
LoL, the Pdl is worried whether Ainz have 2 world items or not. Imagine his reaction when he learns that he has 11 of them XD
Rip Brain he went out a hero
When i saw how Cocytus treated Brain i was so moved because he was just so respectful especially when he went around the street to show how much he respected him as a warrior. I love this show for things like this because he didn't have to, yet he did because that is a testimate of how his character is and i'm glad everyone has a way of showing themselves in different ways.
Eight greed kings and the six great gods remember those names
It's important to keep in mind that in this world the humans have a hard species level cap around 30. Ainz has said he is level 100, and some guardians are stronger than him.
Here's a neat lil' detail:
The world item ainz always has on him is the little red ball that sits in his ribcage.
The sword Cocytus pulled out was one ultimate creation of Takemikazuchi, he wanted to create a weapon that could defeat Touch Me the leader of the supreme beings, when Cocytus pulled that sword, was game over ;-;
Honestly, Brain got the best possible end in this situation.
in the Novel, Brain remembered that Street, the one he and Gazeff met after his defeat, the Same street he met Sebas and saw Climb overcome his Fear, where he fought against Demiurges attack with the others
Cocytus saw his resolve and invitation to a duel when Brain gave stated his name, so he replied as respect and a sign he accepted the duel, Brain didn't expect that, and thanked the ice giant, Cocytus used the sword given by his Supreme Being, Takemikazuchi (the same used against the lizard man) , he used two hands, another sign of respect.
Brain had mastered the same martial arts as Gazeff, using SIX slashes, surpassing his rival, having evolved to its true form, "True Nail Clipper", using everything he learned from Shalltear, Sebas and Gazeff, and at the moment he striked, he was the strongest human in the kingdom, strong as a Hero-Level in Yggdrasil
As a collector, he would take Brains sword and his preserved body as a trophy to the Ice Floor.
Finally. Thanks for the upload. Been waiting for your reaction guys. Very excited for your reactions.
Well, with the time stop spell, technically Gazef died in 0 seconds.
Finally a new overlord reactions,
Great videos as always you guys !!!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t these the only major Overlord rectors to think Azuth (red gundam guy) was a very serious threat to Albedo?
Cocytus actually circled around as a form as respect instead of just walking past Brain's body
Unironically, the beating Lakyus took from her teammates was a legitimate demonstration of the power of friendship in this series. 🤣
Fun fact: the street Brain protected was the same one where Gazef found him, the same one where he met Sebas and Climb, where he was saved and where he reborn, which makes his last stand there so significant. Cocytus noticed and honored him by taking a detour. 🥲
"Brain, the man without one" maaaan i was wheezing lmaooo
One of those ironic names.
The way he says player ("puh-layer") and npc ("En-Pee-Zee") is because apparently is foreign word in this World and somehow he heard it from Ygdrassil players before Ainz.
I love how you could tell who was on the battlefield just based on the interactions and after you could get clues just based on the skill names
Apparently no human has ever double stacked Ability Boost and Greater Ability Boost before without dying
That, combined with the potions, and him upgrading his Fourfold Flash of Light to Gazef's Sixfold Flash of Light (you can count the slashes) and his Field, means that one attack was stronger than anything else in the world except, well, a Nazarick Floor Guardian.
Just to be clear the" platinum dragon" was the mysterious warrior in session 2 that defeated shalltear and mind controlled her to fight Lord Ainz
Let me know if I'm wrong but that's what I remembered
wrong
@@richard971 so explain
Yaaaay! Glad you guys are back! 😃👌👍
If I remember correctly the princess can use the diamond sword because of her "genius" class which allows her to change her class to whatever she wants for a short time
Yea
Brain actually really strong for normal human, he is a genius in sword fighting when he was young. After the duel with Gazef in the Kingdoms tournament he and Gazef is revered among the gangs of Eight Fingers. When level 35 up is considering among the heros realm, True Nail Clipper that Brain pulled is compared to a level 40 attack. He truely a great warrior.
Would love to mention that was pandoras actor not even trying at all but trying his hardest not to hurt or kill him
