I've been following you for a year now because I think you are a great communicator, I wish there were many more people like you, you transmit passion for what you do. Thank you for teaching, sharing and making our learning so comfortable. For the record, I'm not a toady !!

Love your videos! The only matter in this one would be that the background music it’s a little too loud.

Hello Sandra! Glad you found it useful despite the 🎵 music.

Me encantan los vídeos!!son magníficos! Si puedo dar una recomendación sería bajar la.musica de fondo o quitarlos porque a veces el volumen es bastante alto para concentrarse en la explicación. Muchas gracias

Hi Mónica, thaks for this video, in my last C1 exam, the reading exam was an article about "low cost" education in UK, from The Guardian webpage. It is a huge important topic. Thanks.

Seño, instead of "flattering" I use the phrasal verb "butter up" which its means algo así como diríamos "hacer la cama" o "dorar la píldora" in order to achieve something you wish. I guess it´s rather colloquial term so probably doesn´t suit to any formal texts, but it sounds kinda funny and sticky coz "butter up" sounds like "moisturing/oiling the situation"...
Another Idioms which are quite handy are "to bite the bullet" and " to pull your socks up" when we are refering to make an extra effort to attain some goal. Thanks a lot for the amusing vid.

Hi Salva, yes, that's right, to butter someone up is to act friendly in order to get something in return ;-) Good list of vocabulary you prepared from the video. Super job!

The problem I have today is remembering how to spell the words and say them are when conversating the word it self . In stead of saying I walk the distance of 8 miles I just learned(" traverse") what it means and I can now shorten my sentence cause traverse mean to travel across are though a distance. It's finding a way to say it . (I walked, traveled a distance of 8 miles . ) How do I say it like this with traverse being used ? To shorten all these words with traverse it's meaning to travel across are though. If I'm right here I go (travers 8 miles through trees 🌴 ). Is this right this is what I believe we been trying to do and how the Bible was written books cause if we don't shorten sentences and word use then how big a book would be with all those words and how we got so many other words to shorten a sentence. We could never explain this to students kids are are self cause we got so many other things going on in our minds .

Hola Mónica, gracias por tus videos, son grandiosos. Con este me surgió una duda con respecto al término equivalente a selectividad. Me desconcierta un poco la palabra Spanish al principio del término, ya que no comprendo si se refiere a un examen de español o a un examen en una universidad española. ¿Cómo lo diríamos si fuera un examen de otra materia o de otra universidad?
Espero puedas explicarme a qué se refiere y algún otro ejemplo. Muchas gracias!!!

Ive heard as a "teacher's pet" as another term as "pelotilla de la clase". Is that so?
Ups, actually I look like just that....

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hahahah, well, the teacher’s pet has more to do with the teacher and not with the student. That student might be the teacher’s pet but perhaps he or she is not doing anything in particular. On the flip side, el pelota is the student who is constantly trying to get on the teacher’s good side…
Really, are you a swot in real life? Interesting! 😉

    • @jonyer1980
      @jonyer1980 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@ all right, now I got the picture... After all, we have to confess as human beings that every single teacher loves to be bribed & has his/her own pet hidden in some place of their heard.... don't you? Hahaha
Btw, don't assume that I'm a swot by any means...but also a diligent student with your lessons! I really wish to sign in to your EOI for my C1 this incoming season, but I'm sadly into breeding stage right now and I'm getting throw a lot this past two years :(
      Take it easy colleague!

Headmaster/headmister is not the same as headteacher

    •  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi! Yes, headteacher is a general term, while headmaster is a term for a male headteacher, and headmistress is a term for a female headteacher. A woman can be a headteacher but not a headmaster. Headteacher is non gender specific. Cheers!
