Never understood people’s issues with 6th Camaro visibility. It always seems to be the one thing everyone goes back to when they look for issues with the car. Literally just adjust your mirrors and you will be perfectly fine. I came from a four door sedan when I got my Camaro and it took me all of 3 days to get used to the new visibility and all I did was properly adjust my mirrors outward enough to see behind/next to me at the same time.
I had to post this. I'm 5'11", just over 300 lbs. and 74 years old. Once I got used to it, I was comfortable and could see just fine. I'm amazed at all the people that gripe about visibility. I have a convertible and in good weather there's no issues at all. Getting in is a little different because I'm too fat but everything else is just as you would expect a sports car to be. I'm having the time of my life with it!
Yeah about same height here and just test drived one from a dealership. Just adjusted seat and mirrors and it's literally like any sedan unless you're forcing yourself not to see because you like to gripe.
Glad this video has been able to shine some light on this issue. I was always under this same influence and when I test drove my uncles 6th gen, was pleasantly surprised how bad it wasn't.
Just got my black 2018 1lt Camaro and you hit all of the points that I was in fear of. When I test drove it at the dealership it wasn't enough time to truly get used to the vehicle! Now after having it for a few days, I'm completely used to the visibility. All it took was proper adjustments. Now I know what to tell others who I let drive. Make sure your adjustments are correct. Its like configuring video games settings to your advantage lol. I absolutely love my Camaro.
Exactly my point, when I first drove off the dealerships lot in my 2019 camaro my first reaction was the visibility is pretty bad. As soon as got home I readjusted the driver seat to my liking and the mirrors and took her back out on the road and it was like night and day visibility isn't the issue here it's your adjustments. 5 to 10 minutes was all it took to find that comfort zone.
I don’t have the camera in my rear view and I have zero issues with visibility. I flare my side mirrors out a little wider than you. Just kinda the way I like it because it eliminates all the blind spots. If I want to see who’s behind me I use the rear view. But that’s all personal preference. Love your videos though sir. I’ve been watching you for a while now and all of them are extremely well put together and you hit topics that are everyday issues with life as a Camaro owner. Very honest and fair reviews of all your topics.
Since I don't have my car yet, I don't really have firsthand experience with this, but I remember sitting in a Camaro in an auto show and I didn't think the visibility was an issue. I also had a 5th gen Camaro for a bit as a demo when I worked at an auto dealership and I don't remember having any issues. Reading the forums, and accounts from people that own the car, one common complaint seems to be the ability to see curbs, such as when in a parking lot. It seems like the height of the side windows makes seeing things on the ground like this a bit tricky. But as you said, it just takes being more aware of your surroundings and learning and understanding the car's dimensions to make it a non issue. Still looking forward to (someday) getting my car, although I will admit one of the biggest reasons I went with a 2SS over a 1SS was to get the rearview camera!
This issue pisses me off too. If you don’t like the visibility get use to it. I have Camaros since the 2010’s all the way to a 2021 visibility has never been an issue. If you don’t like it just like you said get a fracking mini van. Amen brotha nicely said great video.
In any car adjusting the seats and mirrors is very important like you said These cars are performance oriented not so much for creature comfort , but in my opinion the Challenger has the better visibility at least the front it also has acceptable comfort . Therefore is the overall the most daily drivable out of the three American muscle/sport cars
I have a 1SS, so I don't have the rear camera and I don't have any problems with visibility. Too many people want a sports car with the space and visibility of a minivan....that's never going to happen.
I just got approved for a loan on a 2023 2SS and I have never driven a Camaro before. The dealership is 351 miles away from where I live and it's in transport there and will arrive around April 14th. They are going to mail me the paperwork.I only wanted a 2SS because of the rear view mirror camera, and I looked for a few months around my city but couldn't find one. I hope they can drop it off at my credit union because I don't want to drive 5 1/2 hours to pick it up...but I will if I have to.
I felt I was driving a WWII piston fight plane when I test drive Camaro the first time: low profile cabin with tiny window, long engine hood, loud and powerful engine. It was so cool. But after only 2 weeks, I totally get used to it.
Hey thanks for putting it out there, your POV shots really helped me imagine what'd I'd feel like if I was driving. I knew already that it couldn't be as bad as people make it out to be and this video only substantiates it. Visibility is totally fine in the Camaro.
It took me maybe a week at the most to get used to the visibility once I bought my first 6gen Camaro 2 years ago. Adjust your side mirrors properly and you’re fine. 🤷🏽♀️
I 100% agree with your opinion on Camaro visibility. Once you live with the car for a little while, you get used to it and it seems natural. If you properly adjust your mirrors and PAY ATTENTION when you’re driving, it’s not a problem. And my car is a 1LT. I am completely comfortable and have no anxiety when driving.
Another great video, When I bought mine everyone said good luck being able to see out of that car. My response is learn how to set your mirrors. You shouldn’t be looking over your shoulder to look if there is a car in another lane, thats what your side mirrors are for not to look at your cars quaterpanel. I learned how to set my mirrors when i took my CDL because you can’t look over your shoulder in a big truck.
I think it was more of a complaint that came from 5th gens due to lack of technology to assist. No sensors, no backup camera mirror, etc. I only have 1 issue with visibility on my 5th gen, and it's where the mirrors can't see -- up front. The belt line is so high it's hard to tell where exactly the front wheels are. It's a weird feeling.
What visibility issues? I have owned my 2022 Camaro 2ss 1le for about a month and have had no problems. Only thing for me is when pulling in a parking spot with a curb. It has the pdr so not front sensor. But I’ll get use to it once owning it for awhile!
i was concerned about visibility on the camaro, always heard bad rep about it. honestly its not even bad after getting in one and driving one for like 10 minutes its fine, especially with the tech it has like the mirror camera and the sensors. I drive a miata 95 miata right now and that thing feels worse! and it doesnt have the tech to help it either. the poor visibility stigma for camaro's is a bit blown out of proportion . one thing i will say is that it does feel idk small/cramped inside because the door's windows are pretty small lol
Grant It I'm A Different Size That The Owners, But I Work In A Shop And You Wouldn't Believe How Many People Have 95% Of The Side Mirrors Showing The Car!
@@Me-eb3wv As OP mentions... adjust your mirrors and not an issue. I've owned my SS 1LE for close to 5 years and am under 5'8" and have experienced zero issues with the car including visibility.

I agree 💯 percent.. 2018 ZL1 and have NO ISSUES with visibility.. I adjust my seat and mirrors properly and have NO ISSUES.. Bitchin and Complaining because you don’t know how to drive a sports car..
Excellent video. My personal experience is that the visibility in the Camaro isn't great, but you get used to it. There are cars that are even worse (talking about you, 370Z). Yes, you have mirrors and a backup camera, and I did make use of them, but I also like turning my head and looking with my eyes because mirrors and cameras don't see everything. Besides, the main feature I make use of is the Backup Sensors like my Mustang has. Those are the real helpers. Every vehicle has its weak points and strong points. You get used to it. Challengers are hard to squeeze and maneuver into tight spots. You get used to driving them after a while and adjust to their dimensions. The Mustang has an issue up front that no one talks about: You can't see the nose because of the slope of the hood. You get used to it.
Definitely something new for me, considering you said you raise the height of the seat 🤔🤔 because that's exactly what stopped me from buying a ZL1 I felt to low and looking forward from that position I couldn't correctly judge the front end cause I literally could not see it, and the sales rep said the seats only go back not up, he said there is no way to raise the height at which you sit, so is this only true in the ZL1? Or did the salesman know nothing about the car?? Cause if I can raise the height of the seat, I'm going back to try it out again
Your salesman was/is uninformed. ZL1 as well as SS 1LE (1SS and 2SS) with Recaro seats do in fact have height adjustments. Might be time to visit another dealership with knowledgeable sales people.
Hell yea man, the Challenger window is taller but seems shorter because of the big ass B pillar... and the trying to use the quarter window is impossible....lol
At first i thought there is no visibility at all. But after 1 week of driving it i adjusted my way of driving. Today i got inside a 2018 chrysler 300 at it felt like i was driving a semi truck. Weird to be honest, but i love the way my 2017 2.0t camaro drives. Thanks for the video. I though i was the only one recognizing things were not that bad inside the cabin, but i found this video today 😂😅
It goes back to why are you considering the car. Daily driving? Get the 2SS so you have a safety net if you're concerned and be done with it. If it's your weekend car or track car, I gotta think visibility changing lanes has to be about at the bottom of your considerations LOL. Or at least is should be. Loved the intro btw!
To be honest it was a little bad to me when I drove a 2018 but part of it was was that I was nervous driving a car that wasn’t mine and I was in a place I have never been before also didn’t have the safety features. I have been researching this topic a bunch because I have dreamed of owning one since I was like 7 years old. At the end I feel the getting used to it will be worth it for an amazing car.
The visibility issue is BS driven by media and utube heros that have nothing better to do... and might not like GM/Camaros to begin with. In almost 5 years of ownership (SS 1LE) I've had zero issues... including visibility. As the OP stated learn how to adjust your mirrors. I guess like other things today this is also a lost art?
I hear that argument a lot and its annoying as hell, after owning my Challenger and now my Camaro... I see just fine, the visibility isn't any worse than that Mopar..infact for my its better because of how I sit in the car, I don't have the sharkfin cam and I reverse just fine.... I think folks that complain about it just want to something to say to make their car of choice seem superior....
I got the same exact car in manual couple of weeks ago and you do get used to the visibility. However my car didn’t come with the backup sensor chip and I believe it affects the rear cross traffic alert too. On a car like this with limited visibility, GM should have bumped the chip priority level. Ohh well it suppose to be available late summer so we shall see.
As we've discussed, I do think the visibility is poor. But, it's not very good in most sports cars - so there's that. Trying to look over your right shoulder to look for traffic in the right lane - you can't see anything. Not an ideal way to drive a car. That said, blind spot monitoring will help a lot. Plus, the car overall is far more like sitting in a dark bunker (as compared to say a Mustang). All that said, I will give you the point that most enthusiasts could get used to it (like most things in life that aren't ideal) with time. I think it's the broader market that is just sort-of willing to consider a pony car for fun that is more likely to be turned off I suspect.
What a shame,Chevy should have hired you or maybe they should sponsor you because this is exactly what people need to know about this car it is so awesome looking but scary because of what has been said about the visibility. You have made me think more about owning one I've always loved the car but didn't like the visibility when looking out of it you really did a great job showing that it isn't as bad as they say and that vis what I thing tanked the sales and future of this car along with Chevy inability to market it and address the visibility issues or the lake there of !!!
What is really sad is people can't think for themselves and make these types of purchasing decisions based on the word of a total stranger on a public media platform.
Your exactly right!! Before i bought my 1le i drove a new challenger scat pack and a new mustang gt..both cars were fast! But then i went and drove a 2021 A10 1le and i was like " this is the car for me!"..i love the tight fighter jet feeling cockpit and the go gart feel!! I like to feel the road! , i had a 89 corvette z51 and i loved that car and my 1le feels more capable than that car was!! Now im just trying to decide if i need a Zl1 1le? My car is plenty fast and makes me smile the whole time im in it but a Zl1 is 200 more hp! 🤔...great video thanks for putting this out there!! I hear it alot as well, especially from mustang guys!! They hate the Maro!! Lol. But to each is their own! 🙂
Compared to 99% of other cars the blind spots behind your shoulders are the worst. This is a car you have to rely completely on your side mirrors when changing lanes.
Only problem I have with mine is judging the size of the hood and tires in relation to the FREAKIN TIGHT DRIVE-THRU!!! around me 😩 #curbrash already.. wanted to cry.. other than that yeah it’s a sports car! Have to be extra attentive with what’s around you. Back to that curb rash.. fml. Lol
Austin ! I watched this last night bro 😎 ! And I couldn’t agree with you more !If you don’t know how to drive and use your mirror’s then of course your not going to see ! Good review Austin 👍
You don't need the technology. Buy a sedan if you want technology. Also the sunroof is not quite elegant. The blind spot monitor is good but I have a sedan for that kind of technology. I like the 1SS 1LE a lot more.

On a car like this with limited visibility, GM should have bumped the chip priority level. Ohh well it suppose to be available late summer so we shall see.
Got it so because of the chip shortage they didn’t get you one for those technologies. Yeah that’s crazy
I've driven many Challengers and Miatas, a couple Mustangs, but have never driven a Camaro. I'd love to see how it handles in corners.
It's better than mustang in my opinion
Come to UT!
@@kattdaddy9131I agree. I haven't had any visibility issues with my Camaro. My twin prefers the Mustang. It's shaped like an egg, but she likes it.
The 1LE handles like a dream.
I've always wanted a Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang and a Camaro.
I had the same issue in my challenger looking over my shoulder. The car is darker for sure.
I'm thinking about getting this vehicle. May I ask, how tall are you?
5’11
@@Gonin60 Thanks!
I have a 2021 3lt , have had it for a little over a year now, visibility is not an issue , with all the technology and mirrors,
The 3lt does have the rear view mirror camera in mine anyway
Nice!!
Thank you Rob! I appreciate your kind words!
What is really sad is people can't think for themselves and make these types of purchasing decisions based on the word of a total stranger on a public media platform.
Anyone remember those cargo cans with no windows??? Those were fine
Lol
Haha I always had the same thought. I love this car but could always use more power haha
On the other hand the one i drove was only a 2LT😞
Got it.
I love my 2020 Camaro SS .. an I can see just fine.
Going for my 2022 SS if next Thursday isn't too late to order .
I hope it works out!
Hey @Gonin60 ... Can your dealership buy a car in transit from another dealership? Thanks man .. keep up the videos !
@@Gonin60 can my dealership buy from another dealership if the vehicle is in transit?
@@kattdaddy9131 my experience on this has been no but I could be wrong. I would call and see. Thanks for watching!
@@Gonin60 thanks so much for the reply !
Compared to 99% of other cars the blind spots behind your shoulders are the worst. This is a car you have to rely completely on your side mirrors when changing lanes.
With all the tech no
Only problem I have with mine is judging the size of the hood and tires in relation to the FREAKIN TIGHT DRIVE-THRU!!! around me 😩 #curbrash already.. wanted to cry.. other than that yeah it’s a sports car! Have to be extra attentive with what’s around you. Back to that curb rash.. fml. Lol
Yeah I could see that. Sorry bro!!
Get a R53 Mini Cooper with a supercharger. Street legal go-kart.
Nice!!
Austin ! I watched this last night bro 😎 ! And I couldn’t agree with you more !If you don’t know how to drive and use your mirror’s then of course your not going to see ! I had no trouble In my 2022 Camaro driving it ! And I. only had 3 hours when i had the chance to drive it b4 it snowed here ! ! But nothing but fun and good ! Can’t wait till summer !! Good review Austin 👍
Thanks Michael!!
The visibility id say is probably the back window when i drove one it looked far 😮
That’s fair without the rear view camera IMO
Hey bro. Ironically you are who talked me out of an LT1 since no blind spot monitoring. Can’t afford a 2SS!
I think that’s a good call. Without the technology my opinion changes
You don't need the technology. Buy a sedan if you want technology. Also the sunroof is not quite elegant. The blind spot monitor is good but I have a sedan for that kind of technology. I like the 1SS 1LE a lot more.
@@jorgeirizarry5971 no offense dude, but that’s a weird comment.

I’ve been saying this shit for years it’s all bull shit if you can’t see open ya dam EYES ! I can see perfectly fine out of my Camaro no issued what sob Ever
Yep I agree!
If you enjoy a vehicle the size of a boat and the visibility of a tank.. You'll love it.
No
Another good video sir!
Thanks my friend!!
i'm OK WITH THE VISIBILITY ON MY CAMARO. I WISH I HAD THAT CAMERA U HAVE ON YOURS, ILL MANAGE. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO. HAVE A NICE DAY.
Thank you!
Come to think of it there is no visibilty problem here most of the people i seen drive this they are short people like 5foot1 if the short one can see fine why they say the average people cant lol 😛
Hahaha
They need tan minivans!
Not sure I follow
hahaha lets all buy mini vans
Lol
Chop top Chevy!
Lol
Uhhhh the Miata has pretty amazing visibility and it’s a sports car.
Yeah I guess not having a roof helps with visibility. Who would have thought. The RF ND not as much
@@Gonin60 I obliviously meant with the top up
@@capnbeenieweenie5603 it’s not bad. Most sports cars and especially the majority don’t have good vis
💯💯
Thank you!
visibility sucks the doors are too high to see, and visibility is important so you don't crash into people, tf are u talking about lol
I don’t agree
@Gonin60 is what it is
You are wrong. I'm going to guess you are a mustnag owner... sorry.
