Wow. Pretty complicated stuff - clearly explained. Thank you, Barb! 🥰 To be honest, I even did not know the fill-function yet - I always did that much more complicated (copy cell, jump to the bottom, mark the according column and paste the cell... OMG - it can be so easy! 😂)
I saw your video today. And I actually copied the list then paste it in a different column then removed the duplicates from there, then I referenced the original list and used the new column as the criteria and boom you will have each # once and know how many times it has came up in the original list.
Can someone please explan how we also can the get the number of repeats for each unique value? Similar to Countif to ge the total number of each value within a coulumn? Let's say the first coulmn shows the Exact Unique Values and the second column shows the number of existing Unique Values next to its name. Thank you

if we apply formula and we type manual numbers its warning as double entry. but if we copy past same number its showing double and now warning for double entry
@@BarbHendersonconsultingcool. Yeah both ways work pivot tables are done automatically and is a way to clean up the list so you only have one of each number plus the count next to it. Put account in “rows” and also “values” and select “count of” and then you can sort how you want and copy it wherever you need it. If you don’t want to mess with the original data but you want a kind of summary or something you may want pivot tables. If you want to have data with a reference for each data point your way works best. Otherwise it’s preference.
This counting process takes too many click and thinking. Its way easier to watch auto macro videos, I could do this whole process with 5 second macro record and press play button and it moves all my data even to the other system that wants this data. Allways use macros before you start Math calculations to save any unneccesary clicks with mouse and waste time on your computer + eyes.

my list has 120, 1120, 3210. When i use countif for 120, it says 3 ( taking the other two as well). any solution for this please.
You could try putting 120 in a cell and referencing that in a formula rather than typing in the 120
Can this be done for numbers that are in any order or does this formula only work if the digits are exactly the same? Ex: 1234, 3412.
they have to be numerical

Kind of a weird way of doing this. Just create a pivot table and put whateverr you want to tally in the values area and choose "count of"
why make a pivot table when you can do it this way?
